Boxing Day Surprises
Dec. 26th, 2013 10:43 pmIt was quiet most of the day -- Christmas being over with and all, and my birthday not until tomorrow. I spent the time net-browsing, getting caught up in where I was before in Rythian's LP so I can get back to "Forgetting You" (don't worry, I haven't forgotten putting up "There's Always Tomorrow" and "Boy Genius" either), making more edits to the Pern Crash AU notes I have, and watching my Atop The Fourth Wall DVD. :D Watched the first two reviews included, which were both incredibly goofy and a lot of fun. Apparently Linkara's magic gun was not purchased, but just given to him by a ranting stranger. XD And the idea for the review show would be that Pollo would do it, but when he was first activated, his voice box wasn't working, so Linkara ended up doing it himself. I still need to watch the third and the special features -- I'll probably watch at least one of those tomorrow.
However, the real interesting stuff happened just before my parents went to bed. Mom said that we might as well do my present-opening now, since she'll be out most of the day tomorrow (work -- also the reason why the actual birthday celebration isn't happening until the 30th, when we're going to Dave & Buster's). I was on board with this idea, so I accepted my present from Dad, tore open the wrapping paper --
And saw an Apple logo staring back at me.
They got me an iPad Mini.
I'm -- still kind of in shock. Apparently Mom picked it up at a Target sale (she actually MENTIONED getting a couple, but since one of those was for her client, I figured someone else in that family was getting one too), along with a case/stand for it. We spent a few minutes setting it up, and now -- okay, honestly, right now it's just sitting on my bed, 'cause my brain is still kind of in blue screen mode. I just -- this is not anything I ever expected. Wow. Gonna need a little time to really get used to the idea of owning it.
So -- yeah. Birthday is starting off in a manner I never expected.
I've still got next door's present to open. And I haven't yet seen my Auntie Anne for her present.
Wonder what those will be.
*shakehead* I gotta get back to tumblr, my Victors have stuff going on. . . I'm sure I'll come out of shock sometime.
Maybe next year.
