Shopping Trip of Shoppingness
Aug. 12th, 2016 11:34 pmTwo of those made up the majority of my afternoon. The first, started right when I got off work, was a Savers trip for me and Mom to get some new clothes (I got three new tops, a new dress, two new capris, and a new skirt; Mom got a new top, new skirt, and new sandals) and a Best Buy trip for Dad to get a new computer (dying hard drive in his old one). After getting the clothes and computer home, we then headed out again to Wal-Mart to pick up some essentials and have dinner at our favorite restaurant, Dunn's Corners. I had a cheeseburger wrap, which was yummy -- particularly when paired with their french fries. Learned an important lesson today, though -- be very very careful when opening the ketchup, and don't turn it cap down on the table! I managed to squirt myself with it when going to make a puddle for the fries, and -- yeah. It was all down my arm, splattered on my dress, I even got a little on my pocketbook. Rather embarrassing. Fortunately Mom's doing laundry tomorrow, so. . .
So yeah, was running around most of the day buying stuff. Fortunately most of this running around was in the air conditioning, as it was fucking hot again today. Heat index above 100F during midday, and thunderstorms moving through at night. Tomorrow's supposed to be more of the same, though a little cooler down here by the coast. I still suspect tomorrow will be largely a "hide in the air conditioning" day nonetheless. Same with Sunday, since the heat wave's supposed to do straight through the weekend. Though I'm thinking sometime this weekend I'm getting a milkshake or even something fancier -- I suggested stopping for ice cream as part of today's activities, but while Mom seemed to think it was a good idea at first, it got shut down in favor of the dinner plan. I can understand not wanting to go while we had Dad's new computer in the car, but we couldn't have combined dinner and dessert while we were out the second time? (Though of course it was looking kinda gloomy by the time we got out of Wal-Mart. . .) Ah well, nothing stopping me from getting it myself.
Despite the afternoon out and about, I did manage to get more writing done, and I just set up my queue for Butterfly Boy, so it hasn't been a total loss regarding productivity. Also watched Zero Punctuation take on some pretty weird games: Headlander and Quadrilateral Cowboy. They both sound interesting but incredibly freaking odd: listen to Yahtzee's opinions and decide for yourself!
Right now, though, I've got stuff to take care of on the personal tumblr and elsewhere, so night all!
