Simmy As Hell Sunday
Dec. 8th, 2019 11:03 pmWe watched Sims, we played Sims, we watched Sims some more -- yeah, today definitely focused around the Sims. No regrets, as that's what I said I would do, soooo. . . :p
YouTube portion of the day consisted mainly of:
-->A bunch of Plumbella videos, including her history of woohoo across the Sims series (with the first Sims game somehow managing to be the raunchiest despite not having pregnancy -- do you think they could get away with two Sims getting into bed naked to "play" these days?); her attempt to make the smallest house eight Sims could live in (parents, two teenagers, two children, two toddlers -- she came up with a tiny modern design that looked pretty decent and did work as intended, though DAMN I always think those kinds of houses look terrifyingly cramped); and her first foray into The Sims Medieval (her attempt to be a "down to earth Queen" crashed and burned the instant she discovered the standard "motherlode" money cheat worked XD also she's decided to make enemies with a bunch of kids, which is Kevin-style nonsense and I approve)
-->Red Plumbob's comparison video on Plant Sims through the games -- which really highlights just how limited Plant Sims in Sims 4 are. They really suffered as the result of being a challenge, instead of a properly-implemented life state. :( Meeeh -- I need to rewatch the videos on vampires at some point, just to remind myself there's one occult that the Sims 4 did completely RIGHT.
-->GrayStillPlays simulating the terrors of the Florida Sunshine via turning all his Sims into vampires, slowly deleting the roof from their house, and seeing how long it takes everyone to burn to death. XD It was -- longer than expected, given how dumb his Sims are! Also, he somehow managed to turn the CATS into vampires too, meaning that Tonsils was constantly mystically burning after a certain point -- but because pets can't die of anything except old age in this game. . . It was pretty hilarious XD
-->CallMeKevin getting frustrated with Jim's fish-befouled dorm (mostly because he can't do into build mode and do anything about it) and sending him and his roommate to private off-campus housing after selling all the other fish Jim still had in his inventory. And then throwing a Pufferfish Nigiri party to kill off a bunch of people (including Morgyn, noooo). And then making a club called the Tunnel Snakes. XD And then saving his roommate from the Pufferfish Nigiri because he could still be potentially useful. XD Lot going on this episode, is what I'm saying!
-->James's latest episode of "Rags To Enrichment" -- for once, the end of the term didn't mean the end of the current housing situation! James has decided to stick with his current nightmare house for the time being. XD He has also had Bob join a new, full-time career in the military in a desperate attempt to get more money and eventually buy him and Trash laptops. Which may spell the end of Bob's A+ GPA, because James A) has been so focused on that he's forgotten to do homework, and B) has completely misread Bob's schedule and sent him off to work on a day when he has class in the middle of his shift (which wouldn't have been a problem if James had done the "work from home" option). I suspect the next episode is going to be interesting. . .at least Trash is doing well! Got a C+ in her elective class in her first term, but A+s everywhere else, which is good. And she has her own bike now too, so yay faster travel and lots of fun! I really gotta figure out how to do the university thing in Newcrest. It just -- doesn't seem well-adapted for my round robin playstyle in that file? But I don't want to just ignore it either. . .hmmmm. Figure something out.
Speaking of my own game, today was basically a simple "wrapping up my time with Chell, Wheatley, and Geeker" play session. Followed GP Wheatley to work -- got confused when I saw no doctor Sim on the lot, then was like "oh, right, he's the doctor now." Still, having another one on the lot might help get more patients seen. . .at any rate, Wheatley did get a number of people treated -- including Emma Van Dort, Victor and Alice's daughter! She came in with Llama Flu, poor thing. We also had a guy with Burning Belly, which was an ailment requiring surgery -- which is good, in a weird way, as we need to perform three of those to get our next promotion in the career. Dude also was randomly carrying around my CC Vorpal Blade in his gym clothes, which I found hilarious. XD Never ever gonna use anything to stop my NPCs looking ridiculous -- it's one of my main pleasures of the game! XD But yeah, it was mostly "do tests on NPC while looking up symptoms so I can effectively treat them and increase job performance, oop day done time to work on Charisma skill." Nothing special, but given my last couple of sessions have been all about clearing up the StrangerVille story and taking trips to Sulani, it was a nice break. :p AND I got my pictures for the Wednesday update all sorted too, hoorah! So that'll hopefully go smoothly this week.
Other major accomplishment for the day was working some more on "Secundus 2" -- Victor and Alice have just told everyone about their baby's intended middle name, which led to some sweet moments between Victor, Doc, and Marty. And then Richard ruined it by pointing out the cabinetmaker's/undertaker's. XD I'm planning to go into full "gift fic" mode this week, just to get everything done by Christmas, but I want to get Chapter 2 sorted first -- and I'm actually really close to finishing, so maybe I'll just do that and then put things on hold for a bit? I mean, I really do want to continue with this and "Londerland Bloodlines," but the gift fics have a deadline. And I can't give my usual tendencies toward distraction and procrastination any more room. You guys KNOW how I get.
Speaking of which, I do have some comments that need answering still in the inbox, and then I have to get to bed because work tomorrow -- and this one SHOULD be an actual full work week, instead of "snowy day in the middle that we really should have had off, but nooooo, I have to use a personal day because the plows took forever to come up my road." Though there might be an early release on Wednesday because of the Christmas party? That tends to only apply to the people who are actually going, though. . .we'll see. *shrug* Night all!
