To Do List Done! . . .Mostly
Dec. 7th, 2019 11:38 pmWe didn't end up going to get decorations -- Mom got caught up in another project. Which ended up being fine with me, as it was rather cold out today (not much above freezing for a high!). We might go tomorrow, though the fact that it's supposed to rain Monday and Tuesday might delay the actual "decorating" part. We'll see how it goes! We're not planning on going too overboard -- we just want a garland of greenery and such -- but we also don't want the decorations blowing all over the yard, sooooo. . .
Anyway! As stated above, I got my to-do list sorted -- mostly:
A) Get at least one more gift fic draft done: Moose's draft is in the bag! :D So that's nice. Still leaves me with like four more to do, though. . .eh, maybe I should just switch to "gift fic mode" in full now, just so I can be sure of getting them done. (Or push "Londerland Bloodlines" to the side for a bit so I can at least finish up the second chapter of "Secundus 2" as well. Would like to have it ready for when the story starts posting officially!)
B) Watch the two OXBox/OXtra videos sitting in my queue: Yup! One on video game bosses that got much scarier when the game was remade (mostly due to improved graphics making the giant spider/torso blob monster/nightmare clown genie more realistic/terrifying); one on lines in games that you will hear to the point of throwing something through a window (yes, good old Navi made the list -- come on, she's the overachiever here XD). I also managed to fit in:
-->A riddle video with Gloom and Azzy, showing off mostly survival riddles (like people stuck on desert islands, or kidnapped by maniacs, that sort of thing -- usual goofiness)
-->Another episode of GrayStillPlays Nirvana -- they've added "growing up in a zombie apocalypse" as a possible life! Gray hilariously flirted with becoming a zombie himself, but didn't really manage it until the last life (though the previous life ended up being sent to prison and got addicted to heroin in her 70s, so. . .)
-->And Call Me Kevin playing a very broken game beta of something called Drunken Wrestlers, in which a PS2-era Jim Pickens flailed largely ineffectually at other blocky fighters, generally tripping over his own feet and having his head popped off. XD Also he was called a camper over the in-game chat (because you can actually fight REAL PEOPLE in this broken mess, which is frankly even more hilarious) XD
C) Play some Fallout 4 (I got me an alien to find): Aaaand here's where we come to the "mostly." Because I did play this today -- and made some good progress too! I found out where the alien ship crashed; took on a "save my kidnapped sister" mission at Oberland Station; fought a bunch of raiders; found another Vault (81 -- didn't go inside yet, though, as I already have so many sidequests. . .); had the first "hey I've gained enough affinity with you to unlock my tragic backstory" conversation with Piper (after first thinking she was bugged because she kept saying the first line to trigger the conversation over and over, and was walking everywhere instead of running); found the spaceship, and fended off the alien that crashed it and stole their blaster; and went raider hunting at the location where the kidnapped sister was!
. . .And then found I could not, for no discernible reason, release her. Now, admittedly I turned down the first chance to do so after unlocking the door she was behind, but that was because I wanted to make sure all the raiders were dead first so she didn't suffer any unfortunate fate. But when I went back, the only option I could pick was "I can't let you go." And -- I don't know why? I already asked her about being kidnapped, and told her I'd be back soon, but -- why would "let go" be grayed out? I tried entering and exiting the location, but that didn't help. I tried Googling it, but I couldn't find my specific problem. And when I looked at my saves -- the only one I had from BEFORE I entered the location -- was my save from when I exited the game last time I played. APPARENTLY none of the quicksaves I made BEFORE entering Back Street Apparel counted anymore!
So, long story short, I reloaded the exit save, and then quit the game in a fury. Meaning NOTHING OF WHAT I DID TODAY COUNTED. I mean, technically the saves still exist (maybe; I now no longer know how Fallout 4 saves anything), but I can't DO anything with them because I don't want to pick the one option left to me and leave the poor woman there. *disgusted sigh* It's probably for the best that I alternate this game and Bloodlines -- right now, I don't even want to touch the damn thing. I just -- why? Why would it not let me LET HER GO?? Stupidest thing on the damn planet! And this is why Betheseda will NEVER get another cent of my money.
Fortunately that was the only real blip in my day -- I also got my room cleaned (all before lunch, w000), and I got up another Christmassy Scene From Secundus: Doc having all the trouble with electric lights. XD So that was satisfying. And I'm doing a bit of the RP thing now, so that's good too. :) Time to get queues sorted, methinks -- tomorrow is Sims time! As in, bunch of Sims-themed videos, and some actual game to play. Think I'll go ahead and finish up my week with the Chell/Wheatley/Geeker family, then figure out the logistics of them swapping lots with the McFlys. *nods* Night all!
