Because I don't think I could have managed to keep my mind on trying to do a Newcrest Adventures update or anything this evening. It is post my first day back at work with my coworkers, and I -- well, I am feeling all sorts of tense and unhappy right now. :( Mostly because:
A) I forgot how TALKATIVE my coworkers are, and how much that sometimes just ground on my last nerve
B) They're obviously out of practice with our work database, so I've got to help them through some tasks
C) Most of their day was of course spent catching up on e-mail and phone messages, which ended up in more work for ME once I had to check over their messages and see which ones had already been taken care of, and which ones I would need to call now as the PCI-compliant person
D) And just generally "There are more people in the office now and my wants-to-stay-away-from-people ass doesn't like that." I mean, we were all wearing our masks and keeping distance as much as possible, but. . . *deep sigh* I dunno. I'm well aware that all the bullshit this year, especially regarding COVID-19 has made me fucking paranoid, but -- I dunno. I didn't like all the office work falling on ME, but so far this is not feeling like an actual improvement. I need to find better ways to cope. Ugh, it's bad enough under NORMAL circumstances when I have a rough day after a long weekend that wipes away any benefit it gave. . .
Well, at least I was able to get some stuff done this afternoon, once I got home and away from it all:
-->Got in a workout, yay me
-->Wrote some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- Lily and E have reunited in a very non-canon way, and it is cute. :) Alice is glad that she was able to do that for them. She's gonna be hitting up Rosa for a hint before she goes to investigate Carson and where he's gone, then stop by Mercurio's to ask if he's seen his neighbor. Deviating from canon again, but -- honestly, it's a bit more fun when I don't have to constantly stop-start an LP to try and get the dialogue just right. It's not like Alice usually gives the canon Malkavian responses anyway (I've had her use a line or two, just because they sounded good, but she's a very rational Malk, so it doesn't make sense for her to use them all). Plus this should be fun -- and might give her some backup when it comes to Gimble. . .
-->Watched mostly Sims-themed YouTube again:
A) Started with the latest episode of The Sims Spark'd – turns out how they're stretching this to four episodes is by doing an extra-long skills challenge for this ep. Everything this time was a head-to-head against the various roles in each team – stylist vs stylist (diversity fashion show), builder vs builder (unconventional mode of transport), storyteller vs storyteller (live-narrate a tour of a ghastly fixer-upper house created by SimGuru Ninja). As usual, my feelings were largely "meh," and I could guess where the game was going (one team completely swept the stylist challenge, the other swept the build challenge (and deserved to, even if the other build was still quite nice), and the storyteller was decided by one vote). Though I didn't guess a surprise substitution – apparently Steph0Sims was having a hard time fighting off her own anxieties and such after the loss of Team Gnome and her friends on it, so she ended up leaving, and The English Simmer from Team Gnome took her place. Which, hey, putting yourself out there on a reality TV competition that is trying so hard to be "drama!" is hard! I don't think I could hack it either. I hope she's doing better back on the YouTubes. *nods* As it stands, we'll see how the teams do in the final – I do want to see who wins at this point.
B) On a happier note, onlyabidoang is now a mod maker! :D He showed off his first-ever mod in a quick video – it lets you change a Sims walkstyle to a huge variety of walks, including the standard CAS walks, emotional walks, and special pack-specific walks (like the vampire creep, or the Servo float). Nothing too complicated, but it's a nice little addition for people who want to do non-standard occults (somebody mentioned making flying fairies in their comment) or need a special walk for a video or whatnot. Great job, onlyabi! :)
C) And, just for fun, another weird animation based on a Call Me Kevin clip – Hagrid leading children down to the Chamber of Secrets, where they – don't stick the landing like he does. XD All he was doing was following the spiders!
-->And then the rest of the evening has been mainly catching up on webcomics and tumblr tags (since New Xkit finally updated those to where I could SEE them! Though only under certain circumstances. . .still, at least I can have SOME way to follow my tracked tags! What the fuck is the point if you don't SHOW THEM ANYWHERE ANYMORE, tumblr. . .
Okay, and now I really do need to wrap things up with my DW comment and then try to get some sleep. Still have the rest of this week to get through. . .like I said, need to find better ways to cope now that things have changed in the office again. I'll figure out something. Night all!
