Successful Saturday
Jun. 26th, 2021 11:42 pmIn terms of the to-do list, anyway -- not so much car shopping. We were GOING to go out to a few places and look at some cars, but one was in Massachusetts, and Dad brought up that trying to get the car registered, inspected, and all of that in RI on TOP of figuring out insurance would be so much of a hassle it wouldn't be worth it, and the other's website proved they had ridiculous prices. So the actively-driving-around-to-dealerships part of the hunt has been tentatively postponed to next weekend, since I'll have a long weekend anyway around the holiday. I'm down with that -- means even with riding around, I'll have time to do the stuff I wanna do on my days off!
Anyway, let's take a look at my to-dos:
1. Complete the end-of-month Room Clean and Laundry: Check! Room clean started a little after 11, and with lunch break and other sundries, finished up around 2:30. Laundry took longer, but that’s always gonna be the case. Everything’s good for another couple of weeks.
2. Watch Episode 6 of OXBox playing RE8 and catch up on James Turner's videos in YouTube Subs: Check! Didn’t get a chance to watch any other videos, but at least I’m all caught up on the ones I’ve been wanting to get caught up on for ages!
A) Started right after Sims with my little James Turner Marathon –
I. “Rags To Redecoration, Part 11!” This was the big “moving” episode, though before Hazel could move, she had to fix up her old apartment to get the best value for it. In this case, this involved James playing around with the layout and figuring out how to fit a tiny second bathroom and a second bedroom into the place, rearranging the kitchen and whatnot to make everything work. And then, of course, she had to do another renovation job to get enough money TO move – and to James’s delight, there was a Bigwallet renovation available! Turned out to be Banana wanting a walk-in closet on her never-used home lot. She likes mixology and modern furniture, so Hazel gutted the spare bedroom and turned it into a fancy walk-in closet with a shoe rectangle, lots of mirrors, and a bar under the window. Banana and her husband were thrilled, yay. XD With that payday, a bonus from a promotion (Home Decorator), and the money she got from selling the before and after photos from the gig, Hazel left her apartment with the glitchy power and moved into her first house – the “debug” house in Del Sol Valley! Yeah, remember that lot James built that was basically a mini-neighborhood? That’s Hazel’s new place! She made a few upgrades (including, uh, flipping the entire house around because James accidentally put the debug neighbor houses back-to-front – also adding a garage for her stolen items), made it look a little more homey – it’s far from perfect, but it’s coming together! Good stuff!
II. “Rags To Redecoration, Part 12!” A somewhat more low-key episode focused around Hazel going over to Holly Alto’s place in Strangerville and doing a bedroom renovation for her daughter, Carol II! (Carol the first was sadly taken away by glitches.) The house was one James apparently got off the Gallery, and he struggled a bit at first as a) all Carol gave him for things she likes was singing (but not comedy, meaning the standard microphone was out) and b) he actually liked the original room a fair bit. But after a poke around, he made a really nice new bedroom for the kid, changing up the wallpapers, giving her a loft beds with her dresser underneath, a new desk with a new laptop, turning the corner her dollhouse is in into a full little “set” for it (with mossy stones and a blue sky wallpaper), and giving her both an acoustic guitar and a karaoke machine. XD Because reasons. XD As usual, the clients loved it, and Hazel was able to successfully swipe their TV after leveling up her Mischief skill the morning before. XD And she got a TV stand in the mail when she got home thanks to her career, which was convenient timing! Her next gig is going to be adding a photography studio to the Renrut house in Evergreen Harbor (not that James remembers why they’re living there) – James, fully aware of how buggy this pack is, went in and pre-set-up a new room for her to use while his and Deli’s dog snorted his way through playing with his ball in the background. XD This series continues to be enjoyable, and I’m glad to see James’s enthusiasm hasn’t flagged. :)
III. And finally a build video where James built a house after using his self-Sim to ask five random Sims for five random likes – two décor styles, three colors. The decors chosen were “storybook” and “contemporary,” and the colors orange, pink, and brown. James ended up building a house that had a storybook exterior (complete with fake platform turret) and a more contemporary interior – like someone had bought the house and renovated the inside. It was not without its quirks – like a glitchy roof up top meaning the upstairs bedroom can only be played with walls down, and some odd color choices like a very pink contemporary kitchen – but it actually came out really nice! I loved the exterior – guess that means I like storybook builds! I should play more in Windenburg, that world seems to like that style. . .
B) And then this evening we had Episode 6 of Resident Evil Village from OXBox! The trio finished up navigating Heisenberg’s absurdly long and twisty factory level, going through his crystal mines and his sucky-fan room and his various drill-Frankenstein production areas all to find a mold for a key so they could open this one particular door on the top level. Along the way, they mused about how zombies work (before getting jumped by TWO upgraded drill-Frankensteins at once); wondered why the factory has some of the rooms it has; and battled Propeller-Face, who DID manage to kill them the first go-round as Andy wasn’t quick enough to drop the mine to blow it up and stop it coming. Of course, by the time they reached the final room, Heisenberg was there and ready for them, turning himself into an off-brand Megatron monster before punching them down a giant mine pit. Where lurked Chris Redfield, who FINALLY actually told Ethan a few things while working on a giant chainsaw tank. Andy, Mike, and Jane had a lot of trouble focusing on anything but the chainsaw tank. XD Anyway, gist of it is, Miranda is a shapeshifter, she impersonated Mia to get to Rose, Chris is trying to stop her, he didn’t want Ethan to get involved, but now that he is Ethan gets to drive the chainsaw tank, which is supposedly resistant to Heisenberg’s off-brand Magneto powers. Ethan happily hopped in said chainsaw tank and proceeded to go head-to-head with Heisenberg, ending in a spectacular sequence where he was flung into the air in a metal whirlwind and had to fly back over to the chainsaw tank (which could TOTALLY be manipulated by Heisenberg) and drove it straight into Heisenberg’s head.
And then Miranda showed up, demonstrated her shapeshifting, gave her big evil speech about making Rose into her own daughter, and – uh – ripped Ethan’s heart out. As Mike said, he kind of needed that. . . So for the time being, we’re playing as Chris, leading his assault team on the village to kill Miranda and save Rose! Which I’m sure he’s going to be TOTALLY COMPETENT at!
3.Either work some more on the HypnoKink notes or work some on the Fallout Of Darkness Notes: Check on the former – finished off the “magic system” section and did a little more fiddling with the story list! Nothing too major, but it makes the notes a little cleaner.
4. Play Sims 4 and get another day of Emmett and Nikal under my belt: Check! Today’s focus was on Nikal, as I had her fix up the broken washing machine downstairs (combination of magic and mopping, as I was worried about her getting overcharged), then followed her to work in hopes of getting her a promotion! It was one of those “gather collectibles” days at the lab, so Nikal downed a Potion of Good Fortune and started breaking up rocks. Got a bunch of capsules (though only one new MySims figurine when I popped them open later – rest were all duplicates), but a bunch of metals and crystals too – between that and a few other tasks, she easily maxed out her performance and got her promotion to Laboratory Leader, yay! So that’s her New Year’s resolution fulfilled! And then Geoffrey Landgraab came over and gave her a cheese pizza in the middle of a thunderstorm. XD Emmett and Julia are doing well too – Emmett has developed a preference for painting, and Julia’s earning skills like a little dynamo. :D I like having a successful family!
Nice to get a check on everything. :) And very nice to finally catch up with James's stuff and that RE8 video, damn! I mean, now I'm behind on Kevin and Gray, but as they generally upload shorter stuff, that's a little easier to catch back up on.
Okay -- currently got a thread going on Valice Multiverse and an ask I need to answer over on Museical Marty, so let's get tomorrow's to-do's sorted and then head out:
1. Work more on the HypnoKink Notes/Fallout of Darkness Notes
2. Watch the final OXBox RE8 episode, Jon's next FO4 YOLO episode, catch up on YouTube Subs
3. Play more Portal Reloaded
4. Get in a workout
Again, keeping it simple in case something comes up where we end up going out after a car or whatnot -- determined to finally finish off this OXBox RE8 stuff, though! And not just because there's a new Hitman 3 thing to enjoy. :P Night all!
