A Very Quiet Wednesday
Jul. 21st, 2021 11:13 pmTo the point where the fabled thunderstorms never even arrived -- they went 100 miles below us, apparently. (Sorry New Jersey!) We got a few sprinkles of rain and that was it. They're still SAYING that we're due some nice weather over the next couple of days, but I am suspicious. Hopeful, but suspicious. Ah well, at least maybe we'll get to play beanbags at some point this weekend. For now, the usual updates --
Work – Another super-quiet day, spent most checking on all the things the credit card company hasn’t fixed, then doing obituaries and cleaning up duplicates and such whenever I came across a slew of people with the same name. It did make the day drag a little, but the alternative is chaos – and considering one of my coworkers is off tomorrow for a funeral, I suspect I’ll be at least a little busier then!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check! Another round on the bike, another roughly half-hour with the A:MR speedrun! I have gotten through the rest of the Mysterious East, Cardbridge, Queensland, and Rutledge – mostly because the runner really knows how to a) blaze through things when given have a chance (again, Alice can get some DISTANCE if you know what you’re doing with her quad-jump and dodge), and b) get to places they’re not supposed to be and abuse spawn points to skip vast swathes of levels (Queensland being the best example, where they skipped the vast majority of the whole castle via jumping into the sky and navigating the out-of-bounds areas twice – once falling back into the level right in front of Alice’s memory door!). It’s awesome, really. :) Should wrap it up tomorrow, as we’re right at the beginning of the Dollhouse!
2. Edit some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! Through about half of the Victor section, which has him lying broken on a cot in the clinic, wondering why everyone’s abandoned him after he was hit by a car. Fortunately Alice has shown up to help how she can – and even though she can’t get Dr. St. Martin to actually come treat the poor guy, she’s about to realize there’s another way she could save his life. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check! Again, longer episodes, so just the three in, three out –
A) Started with James Turner and – “Rags To Redecoration!” Yup, seems like we’ve come to the end of James’s Early Access stuff for Cottage Living (just in time for the pack to release tomorrow!), so it’s time to jump back to Hazel and her Dream Home Decorator game pack! Today’s gig was a trip back to Column and Playn Taine Bigwallet, the Realm of Magic Sims, to do a “living room renovation” that in reality was more of a level renovation because their home is essentially a bunch of huge rooms. James did what he could, taking into account their likes and dislikes – a pipe organ got shoved into one of the tower rooms, and there were a bunch of blue modern couches all over the place. He even added in a simple kitchen along one wall so the gang had somewhere to cook! It looks a hell of a lot better with actual furniture, that’s for damn sure. Hazel also took the opportunity to age up baby Reginald into a toddler AT LAST – he’s a cutie and no mistake. The reveal event itself glitched out (James thinks the toddler might have been the problem), but Hazel got Column and Playn’s approval and paid pretty well for the gig. Which is good, as James is adding laundry to her lot and she desperately needs a hamper and a dryer. Tomorrow Chaz apparently returns to the save proper – we’ll see how that goes!
B) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin and Buddy Simulator 1984! I assume that’s the name of the game, at least. . . *Googles* Yup! Anyway, this is a game where you play with your own virtual buddy! Kevin tried to name his “the cheese” but it just came out as “The.” XD In keeping with the year on the title, it starts out with some simple games easily done with 1980s graphics, with your new buddy asking you things like your favorite color, favorite animal, your birthday. . .and then he upgrades the game for you, so you can play a more personalized adventure!
No, seriously, the game actually goes from text adventure, to a simple top-down adventure game where you help a village full of funny animals, and when Kevin ended it, it had gone to pseudo-3D! It’s pretty wild stuff – and that’s before you get into the fact that the game keeps glitching out and showing some rather weird imagery from time to time, like this thing wanting to be even more of Kevin’s friend. . . Yeah, the game has the “psychological horror” tag and is probably one of those titles like Doki Doki Literature Club with a game that wants to be a little TOO close to the player. I totally want to see where it goes next. XD
C) And finally we had GrayStillPlays and more Happy Wheels! Boards today ranged from “I won this without even trying” (a board where a van smashes into you and you have to survive; as Gray’s catchphrase is “I’m still alive!” this was no issue), to “I won but not really?” (the starter board, where you had to stop a ball from going into a goal or get smashed by some logs – he both got smashed but survived, and didn’t actually stop the ball but won), to “Yay I won” (another wacky bottle flip, where he actually TRIED to get the win – and succeeded after dismembering multiple Florida men), to “no the win’s right there" (flutter-kicking a Santa suspended between two harpoons to the win area – took a couple of attempts because the first didn’t QUITE reach; also an “avoid the flappy weapon butterflies” board where a spear-butterfly forced Gray to do it twice), to “WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU CREATE THIS” (a jet JUMP board where the slightest touch of the jet piles would eventually sent rockets careening all over the board – one took Gray straight OFF THE SIDE after it got caught in his crotch; and a pogo-jump board where you had to carefully knock away a guy surrounded by ALL the sharp things in order to reach the win – again, took a few tries because Gray kept getting his character stabbed in all the wrong places). Also Michael Meyers zooming at Nixon with some sort of weird three-spike thing thanks to a rocket up his butt. I love this game. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Went back in after work to reset the queue speed to one post per day, and I have my song for Song Saturday – “Bad Habits” by Ed Sheeran. What, I like the song – and the fact that both the regular music video and the lyrics one feature vampire imagery means it’s just automatically going in the “Londerland Bloodlines” playlist. XD Didn’t quite get to finish its post, but at least it’s there, and I can fix up the text tomorrow!
So that's all good at least. Now here's hoping tomorrow isn't a total clusterfuck! Or, if it is, that it goes by fast. . .night all!
