Nicer Weather For Once
Jul. 22nd, 2021 11:12 pmAKA the humidity has fucked off, so low 80s now feels comfortable instead of like being in a sauna. (Well, during the day -- was slow to cool off tonight, so I've got the AC going to make sure I can sleep.) Though it did really cloud up for a little while this afternoon -- thought it was seriously going to rain! And there's apparently a growing chance of a shower tomorrow. . .we'll see what happens! Have my updates --
Work – Another pretty quiet day, even with one of my coworkers out – I did the GL without much fuss, took a couple of phone calls from donors, and again spent a good portion of the day doing obituaries. *shrug* I guess this week has had a theme, and that theme is “quiet please.” Fine by me – now I just have to hope no major disasters happen NEXT week!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check! Thirty on the bike to close out my rewatch of that old A:MR speedrun! The runner basically jumped around and avoided a lot of the fights in the Dollhouse, but choked slightly at the very end – and I mean the very end; poor bastard had to do the final section of the final boss fight three times because Alice kept getting killed. They managed in the end, though! Final official time is 1 hour, 48 minutes, 5 seconds – not too shabby! :)
2. Write some more on “Learn To Love Again”: Check! The conversation between Victor and Alice is ramping up, with Victor finally getting to unburden himself of some of his complaints regarding his mother’s “marriage-shopping.” Alice has shared a bit of her family history too – nothing too personal, but just stuff to let him know “it’s cool you’re complaining, I heard a lot of this from the other side with my sister.” And now we’re getting into them talking hobbies, and Victor about to geek out about butterflies. Because what better way to bond is there? :)
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check -- only two in the Subs today, so managed to sneak in another video, yay --
A) Started with a quick something out of the Watch Later – “7 Creative Fighting Game Finishers for Violence Connoisseurs” from good old OXBox! As you might imagine, the Mortal Combat series got name-checked a few times (for “Mercy,” “Animalities,” and a “Build-Your-Own-Fatality” system that made it into Armageddon), though other series were featured. I think my favorite is Street Fighter V’s finishers where you can knock your opponent off the stage and into a fun bit of humiliation. Like having a giant hot dog fall on their head. XD Good times. . .
B) Then it was over to James Turner and the Cottage Living LP, now out of Early Access! The adult version of Chaz has been merged back into the main save game and his relationships with his family re-established, and now it’s just a matter of getting used to having all the packs! Such as Seasons, meaning some of his produce – including the nightly mushrooms he went back to his old place to get – are now out of season. So James built Chaz a greenhouse! (After saving up for it via produce sales, of course.) He actually went with a domed roof design to take advantage of some windows he likes, which I think look pretty cool. He also did some canning (because that’s a thing now), got on better terms with his animals, participated in the latest Finchwick fair (Garden – he submitted a perfect-quality strawberry but somehow only got second place) –
And met Hazel! Yup, by sheer coincidence, the first time he went down to Finchwick, she was there, checking out the place! They had a nice chat (all on their own too! James refused to influence it in any way), so now they at least know each other! We’ll see if and when it develops into anything more. . .
C) And then we had Call Me Kevin and Police Simulator: Patrol Officers! A janky simulator game with questionable collision detection and NPC AI, Kevin managed to make a further pig’s ear of it by being the World’s Worst Cop (That Isn’t Actually Real). Mostly by constantly pulling his gun (both taser and regular) on people, arresting civilians seemingly at random (and then just leaving them handcuffed on the street), issuing illegal parking tickets, and calling in as many wreckers to tow cars on one street as humanly possible. XD He DID occasionally try to play the game as it was MEANT to be played, but sometimes the game was very fussy about what counted as a crime/towable offense and what didn’t (like a cracked windshield was fine one day and not the next). All in all, he got fired about five, six times, and managed to make it through two whole shifts before getting his ass kicked to the curb. A cop’s life in the big city for you!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Finished doing the text and tags for my Song Saturday post on Victor Luvs Alice, and got three asks and one thread reply in the queue on Valice Multiverse. Nice and easy (more or less).
So yeah, nothing too horrifying or exciting. Except the "Post +" idiocy starting to ramp up on tumblr. . . *deep sigh* There is probably going to be much bullshit about this, and I am not here for it.
Fortunately I don't have to be tonight -- time to wrap things up and head to bed. Night all!
