Which really isn't surprising, given what I'm like on weekends, but still. Almost missed updating today! :P But I am here five minutes before the deadline with my updates --

Work – A fairly quiet day in terms of workload (no failed credit cards to look up today, and I only had two credit card calls plus one parish update), but FUCK were my coworkers loud behind me today. Just yammering on and on and on and – ugh. Really put my teeth on edge, I’m not gonna lie. >( But at least now I’m free of them for three days, so hooray there.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – for my last night on the bike this week, I pedaled my way through “Severance Season 1 Recap (Sort of) | Everything You Need to Remember” by Pete Peppers! This was a video going through all the important stuff we learned in Season 1 of Severance – talking about the basic premise of the show; all the different characters, what we know about them, and their arcs; what we know about Lumon and how fucking creepy it is; and what seems likely to come up in Season 2 (Mark getting reintegrated) and what doesn’t seem likely (Helly getting kicked to the curb, despite what she did at the gala). There was nothing particularly new in regards to information – pretty much all of what he talked about was stuff I’d learned from other videos – but it was a nice summary of all the important bits, and it got me through my workout, so that’s what counts. :)

2. Continue working on “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded”: Check – got another page on this, with the trio having breakfast and discussing the plan to sneak into Houndsditch via the kitchen door and find Bumby’s ledger to expose him. So far they’ve covered the possibility that Bumby may have hired someone to do Alice’s job now that she’s gone missing (so they’ll time their approach to when it seems least likely for someone to be in the kitchen); what to do if they’re spotted by any of the children (Alice will at least TRY to get them to keep their mouths shut); and what about her things (which – Alice hadn’t even thought about getting her personal possessions until Victor and Smiler asked – and Carpenter pointed out her current outfit could definitely use a wash). We’ll continue with the latter discussion tomorrow, and see if I can’t find a way to get Sooty the raven to make an appearance soon...

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Half-check, half-substitution check – I had one really short video by Josh and one fairly long video by Gray in my Subs tonight, and given that it was Game Night (Trivial Pursuit – I won the first game, Dad won the second), that mean I didn’t have a lot of time to watch videos. So I substituted in one of the videos from my Watch Later instead for Gray’s – I’ll see if I can double up on you tomorrow, buddy! In the meantime, here’s what I got to tonight –

A) First up, from the Watch Later, we had “The FORGOTTEN Playable Pet in The Sims History” by onlyabidoang! A video all about an actual, controllable pet animal that most Simmers might not even know about – the orangutans from The Sims 2 Castaway Stories! This is one of the Sims 2 spin-off games (I think one of the ones that was optimized for playing on laptops), where you play as a Sim living as a castaway on an island, either controlling a specific premade Sim through a special Story Mode, or doing the more usual freeplay stuff on a different island. Orangutans can be encountered in both modes, and can be adopted as pets – one specific orangutan in the Story Mode, who you have to befriend to get an idol from her and then can adopt if and when she shows up at your camp later, and any orangutan you can find hanging around the community lots in the Freeplay Mode. They can be controlled like regular Sims by directing them to go places and do things; can get the same “jobs” as human Sims (Hunter, Gather, and Crafter), though their jobs only go up to level 4; can learn three skills, Body, Logic, and Creativity; can groom themselves and adult Sims; can play “Stick-Em-Up” and “Funny Faces” with other Sims; can play the bongos; can chase Sims playfully or intimidate them, and even beat them up in a fight; and can gather bananas to up your food stores, among other things. Their interactions ARE fairly limited (especially with the younger members of the family – they can just play with kids, and can’t interact with toddlers at all), and they can’t interact with each other for some reason, but they are pretty cool virtual pets to have in the game. (“Virtual” being the key word – Abi was very clear that REAL ones should never be kept as pets.) As Abi said, they just add a little something to the whole experience! :) (Also, you can technically adopt hyenas as well in Freeplay Mode, or once the story in Story Mode has completed, but they’re essentially just reskinned dogs, so Abi didn’t spend much time on them. We already know about dogs! There’s also a jaguar, but you can’t adopt her – just give her a special leaf to make her stop guarding a gate you need to get through. Shame. :p)

B) And second up, from the Subs, we had Josh Way and “Fun With Shorts: The Impossible Map!” A previously Patreon-only short about how it’s impossible to accurately represent the round Earth on a flat map, demonstrated by trying various “flattening” methods on grapefruit and turnip globes. No, seriously. XD Josh had fun with this one, cracking “flat earth” jokes and pointing out that all this fruit-and-veg-based nonsense was probably making the whole thing that much more impossible. I mean, it WAS a good way to show how difficult it is to get a properly non-distorted map, but – still. XD We do enjoy an old short with a terrible soundtrack to make fun of around these parts!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – nothing happening over on Valice Multiverse, but on Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler)…welp, right before I left for work this morning, I checked my dash to discover that my friend Newt had reblogged a post showcasing – a new OK Go music video! :D These are the guys who consistently do absolutely WILD music videos – they’re the ones who danced on the treadmills, built that giant Rube Goldberg machine, went up in a plane to fly around in microgravity, and used ultra-slow-motion to film a video in a handful of seconds – so naturally I had to check out their latest, which featured them syncing up various phone videos in increasingly-trippy ways. And naturally, after checking it out this afternoon, I decided I had to showcase it for Song Saturday, so I queued it up and booted the “Jolene but she’s an HP Lovecraft monster” post into the drafts, slightly rewritten so I can post it up NEXT weekend. XD I guess that means I’m at least ahead of the game when it comes to Song Saturdays!

Nothing too exciting, as you can see, though I did come home pretty stressed from all that coworker yammering. *sigh* But I'm feeling better now, and looking forward to the long weekend. Even if tomorrow is a cleaning Saturday. :p Anyway, I gotta wrap things up -- goals for tomorrow are to get my cleaning done (at least the only laundry I'll have is my sheets!); get back to Baldur's Gate III and hopefully get my Tav Smiler at least through the tutorial; work some more on "A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded;" and see if I can catch up on my GSP videos. Depending what he uploads tomorrow, anyway. *nods* Hopefully this shall all be achieved -- night all!
