crossover_chick: Alice (Wonderland) looking kind of confused (AMA: WTFery?)

I could have SWORN I was just starting to get my period last night, right before I went to bed -- but today has been oddly lacking in blood. Though not lacking in the PMS brain, that's for sure. *grumbles* Hurry up already, you stupid biological process, I've got shit to do! Shit that needs me to be able to CONCENTRATE! *sigh, shake head* Anyway -- my day for you all:

Work – Much quieter day today in the office – had one credit card call, then spent the rest of my time doing roster maintenance, going through the failed credit cards and sending some e-mails/making some calls to people, and doing some reversals that needed doing. *shrug* Little annoyed that nobody got back to me regarding some of the stuff I was questioning yesterday, but whatever. Just glad that we’re almost at the end of the week. Hopefully Friday won’t be a shitshow!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, this time with some Baldur’s Gate III videos I thought might be useful to watch, considering my upcoming respec of Tav!Smiler:

A) “Baldur's Gate 3 Warlock Guide - All Subclasses (Fiend, Great Old One, Archfey)” by Fextralife! An overview of the Warlock class and its original three subclasses, going over how warlocks work, what stats you should concentrate on while playing one, the various goodies they get while leveling up, how the subclasses work, etc. I figured this might be a good thing to watch given I’m planning on making Warlock Smiler’s new “base class,” and I’m pleased to say it was pretty informative! The creators went through just about everything they thought you needed to know, going into decent detail regarding stuff like:

I. the strengths and weaknesses of the class (like the trade-off between having so few “pact magic” spell slots – you spend most of the game with a mere TWO, only going up to three at level ELEVEN (and remember, the vanilla game maxes out your levels at TWELVE) – versus being able to refresh them on a SHORT rest instead of a long one, meaning you get to use your spells a bit more often than other spellcasters)

II. the special features each subclass gets (including going into detail about the extra spells the subclasses offer for Warlocks to learn if they wish – if you want fire and cold damage, definitely go for Fiend, let me tell you!)

III. good multiclassing options (as expected, Warlock pairs well with Bard, given they’re both Charisma-based spellcasters – AND leveling up Bard enough to get the “Song of Rest” feature means you get an extra short rest to fill up those pact magic slots, nice)

IV. and how good Eldritch Blast is (seriously, a decent amount of the video was dedicated to explaining how Eldritch Blast works, how it levels up as you level up, and what “Eldritch Invocations” you want to take to make it even better)

*nods* All very useful info! Could have gone into a bit more detail in some places, I feel, but overall, a good overview of the class that makes me feel a bit more prepared to use it in my game in the future. :) (For both Smiler AND Wyll, actually – gonna make good use of all those fire spells the Fiend subclass grants him for the latter!)

B) “Baldur's Gate 3 - Complete Background & Skills Breakdown” by Slandered Gaming! An overview of all the backgrounds your Tav can have – which determine what skills they are proficient in (and thus increases the bonuses those skills grant a die roll) and what gives them “inspiration” (the resource you spend to reroll bad die rolls in checks) – plus all the skills in the game, going over what activities they’re relevant for and how useful they are overall. I watched this because partly because I was curious as to what the various backgrounds granted your character, as I’d never gone over all of them –

And partly because I’d just heard in the previous video that “Guild Artisan” was a good background to take for a Warlock because it gave you a Persuasion Proficiency. AKA something Tav!Smiler very much needed. And after watching the video and hearing what “Guild Artisan” got inspiration for – namely, repairing certain items and tinkering with alchemy...yup, gave Smiler the wrong background too! *facepalm* To be fair, I don’t think “Entertainer” is a BAD background for them – they do like entertaining people, and a lot of the inspirational activities suit them really well! Just “Guild Artisan” might suit them just as well, possibly better with that Persuasion Proficiency. *shakehead* It’s really a good thing I had that random thought about my Hypothetical CaFae Latte Crossover Smiler being compared to a D&D Warlock, huh?

2. Continue editing “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded”: Check – I got to this later than I wanted (thanks PMS/period brain), but I did get to it! Today’s edits covered Alice feeling guilty again about not noticing what Bumby was doing to the children sooner, only for Smiler to remind her “yeah, Bumby was trying to wipe YOUR brain too, remember?”; Alice attempting to sum up what she, Smiler, and Victor have been doing the past few days to Matt and Carol, only to realize “no, this is going to take longer than expected” and Matt and Carol offering to put them up for the Names so they could explain at their leisure; and – at the end of this particular chunklet – Victor realizing that they need to somehow contact Elder Gutknecht back at his house so he doesn’t get worried and wonder where they went. Tomorrow, brain willing, we will finish editing this, and see about getting it up sometime on Saturday!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – nothing new in the Subs today, so I had free reign to catch up on the Josh Way video I missed yesterday: “Fun With Shorts: Fit As a Fiddle!” A goofy old short from the 60s that was mainly about a classroom full of children watching their OWN shorts – the first being a recording a speech from JFK about how physical fitness is important, and the second being a dude showing them various exercises they could do (including modified push-ups for the girls) while touting how important it was to exercise various muscles. And yes, exercise is important, but seriously, this was so stiff and terrible it was ripe for the riffing. And Josh gave us some good ones – from JFK hoping this “keeping kids physically fit” stuff will distract from his personal issues, to comparing the narrator of the second short to Droopy Dog, to going “Did you hear that girls?! Get him!” about the modified push-ups. XD Great stuff as always – I do enjoy when he gets his snark on!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: N/A tonight – I didn’t have anything to do on either Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – queue sorted – or Valice Multiverse – no activity. And given how distracted my brain is, that’s probably for the best. We’ll see if things are different tomorrow!

Other: Despite it being noticeably colder today, we did play beanbags this afternoon thanks to me getting home on time and not completely stressed out – and I’m pleased to report I won the first game! :) So that was nice. Dad took the next two, though, and Mom, despite giving her all, only got up to second on the third game. Meaning the final scores were me W-2-3; Dad 2-W-W; and Mom 3-3-2. Maybe she’ll do better the next time we play!

There, finally got that done. Time to wrap things up and hit the sheets. Just gotta get through Friday now, and I'll be all set for the weekend -- I hope anyway. It's Alice's birthday on Sunday, and I want to make sure I mark the occasion properly, period or no period. *shakehead* I'll worry about that later -- night all!
