Not Much To Say Tuesday
Jun. 2nd, 2026 11:52 pmNot a lot actually happened -- the most interesting event of the day was me coming home and trying to wiggle my car over to the other side of the garage so Mom and Dad could pull straight in when they got home from Dad's appointments (MRI and CAT scan) and a quick shopping trip. Which was a pain in the ass, let me tell you -- very glad my parents have decided I can just park on my usual side of the garage going forward! And that I ended up getting cake for my troubles (Mom made a carrot cake after getting home). But yeah, other than that, it was a fairly quiet day. Though, as my write-up below will prove, I did get SOME stuff done --
Work – It was a very quiet and kind of boring Tuesday at work today, it must be said – my time at the office consisted pretty much entirely of:
A) Doing the morning reports and check deposit, as per usual
B) Confirming that a certain refund was indeed on our database for Fiscal
C) Taking a credit card call from a guy who wanted to pay off his pledge (one of the people who’s original pledge billing was returned, so that was nice)
D) Putting on some freshly-received Easter Collection gifts in the afternoon
E) Helping my coworker with a few questions regarding applying an overpayment from the previous year to a donor’s new pledge (as the donor had previously okayed it when Deb contacted them, we agreed that it should be applied)
F) And, in between all that, doing whatever roster maintenance I could scrounge up by looking at online obituaries...and doing some puzzles I grabbed out of the Saturday paper
Yeah – I know that LOOKS like a decent-sized list, but most of the items didn’t actually take long to do at all, so the majority of my day was looking for roster maintenance to do and working on a crossword. *shrug* Still better than being stressed! We’ll see what happens tomorrow!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike this evening, and back with “My first house build in Paralives!” by James Turner! Tonight’s chunklet saw him –
A) Show off how you can flip doors to change which side they open from – WITHOUT fully rotating the door (that is, which side is consider the inside STAYS the inside, they just change where the handle and hinges are on the outside bit). You can rotate it around so the inside is now the outside, but that’s a separate button
B) Very carefully (with much saving) build a stairwell in the center of the house, with steps leading both down into the sunken level below the “main” level and up to the second level – playtesting it with his self Para revealed that all the doors into each room opened whenever Semaj went into one of them, but otherwise it was perfectly functional
C) Add a step to the front door to stop Semaj temporarily sinking into the floor whenever he entered the house (due to the door being slightly above ground level thanks to all the split level stuff happening)
D) Slap some siding and some bricks on the exterior of the house (using the color wheel to get the color of the bricks juuuust right), then put a roof on it – the roof tools are a little minimal right now (there’s no curving roofs or anything like that), but you can still stretch and squash the basic shapes, and change the pitch of the roof (though that DOES do odd things to the roof textures). James was able to roof the house how he wanted, at any rate – and he was pleased to discover how to extend both sides of the roof at the same time to get proper eaves (hold [SHIFT]), and that the tip of a given roof could be given a different texture and color to the rest of it (if you’re into that sort of thing, which he was)
E) Pick out some lovely shuttered windows for the front of the build and line them up on the wall (admitting that it was very easy to line things up horizontally as the game provided a handy line as a guide, but that lining them up VERTICALLY was more of an issue), recoloring everything with the help of the color wheel again (I gotta say, it IS nice to be able to pick your own colors for everything if you want) – he also put a shutterless window by the front door, because that went better with the aesthetic I suppose
F) Carve a chunk out of some of the terrain at the back to put in a back door leading directly out into the yard on the lowest levels, and add some windows to the back of the house (making full use of the fact that you can stretch and squash windows to your heart’s content to make a tiny window by the door that still lined up with the bigger windows above)
G) Add a deck out the back of the “main” level, with stairs leading down to the “cut-out” door he’d just put in – this proved to be a bit difficult because stairs are a little glitchy right now, and he had some real trouble getting them to attach to the side where he wanted. And don’t even talk about how he tried to put a little step on the OTHER side, only to have the stair put a weird cut-out into the floor of the deck...it all came together in the end, but it took some doing! (And resulted in a very unsafe deck with no fencing around it or railing on the stairs because he couldn’t change the latter to match his attempt at a fence. He’s sure the Paras will be FINE, guys. XD)
H) Show off some of the neat things you can put around the outside of your house – like a stretchable gutter! Some random pipes! A classic TV antenna! And a customizable chimney! Basically, there are plenty of ways to decorate the exterior of your house and your roof, even at this early stage of the game. :)
I) Start figuring out the layout of the house and build the kitchen near the back door to the deck, doing a narrow U-shaped layout using all the “midcentury modern” style of counters and whatnot. It turned out pretty nice, with a tall narrow cabinet by the back door serving as the “pantry,” with the fridge beside it; the oven at the top of the “U” under a bunch of cupboards; and the counters on the other side of the U visible through a big old arch in the wall James built behind them because he liked the look of it – though he ended up hiding the back of the counters with a dresser “side table” as he didn’t like that they were visible.
*nods* Very good progress, it must be said! I left off with him decorating the kitchen – painting the walls, adding various appliances and bits of clutter, and putting some curtains up on the resized window. Tomorrow, we’ll see how he plans out the rest of the house, and if the darn thing is even livable! (And if his “undo” button ever starts working – that’s his main complaint this video, that that thing has glitched out and thus he can’t easily undo things. *nods* Hopefully mine will work when I first do some building in this game, but we’ll see...
2. Continue writing Chapter 1 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Hollywood’s Deluded Depths”: Check – today’s little-over-a-page covered –
A) Victor and Alice’s tender moment post-drawing-swap being interrupted by the cab pulling up to the curb – and Alice noticing that they’d parked in front of a convenience store instead of Abrams Golden Age Jewelry; upon questioning their driver, he explained that he couldn’t actually park in front of the jewelry store because it would take some VERY complicated turning he was pretty sure the pair wouldn’t want to be in the car for. He assured her that the store was just up the street, though, and Alice was willing to accept that. She thus handed the sketches back to Victor to keep safe in his sketchbook while she handled the fare – Victor started to ask if she needed any cash from him, but she assured him that the ‘allowance’ that he’d given her last night would probably be enough. Cue Victor getting embarrassed and trying to explain that, now that she knew he could afford it, he’d wanted to give her something – Alice told him it was fine and that she appreciated it. And the clothes he’d bought her too (looking down at her new blouse and skirt), as she finally felt presentable. Which Cheshire told her was very good, as she would need to present herself very soon…
B) Alice paying the cabbie, followed by her and Victor grabbing their suitcases and settling themselves on the curb as he drove away. Alice noted that their first order of business should be to secure lodgings, and that if they just started walking, she was sure they’d find a place soon enough –
And then a dude in big old sunglasses walked up to them, confirmed Alice was “Liddell,” and informed her that, since he’d never seen her here before, that meant Isaac hadn’t either, and thus Isaac’s was her next stop. Alice explained to him that she’d intended to go to Isaac’s straight away, but her cabbie hadn’t been able to make it all the way there, then confirmed with him that it was just up the street – the dude said at the very end, and that she should consider herself invited before walking off. ...you know, he’s really not very good at his job. XD
C) And Alice then telling Victor that, since apparently she was expected to meet with Isaac post-haste, hotel-hunting would be up to him...before inquiring if any of her usual cast of Wonderlanders had directions for her. Cue Cheshire telling her that “the subject of a Madonna song” was just up the road, and she could probably see the sign from here. Cue Alice indeed spotting the glowing neon of the Luckee Star motel, and asking Victor if he wanted to scout that out while she talked to Isaac. Victor was game, and said that he hoped Isaac didn’t give Alice too much trouble – Alice admitted she was sure he would, but she was used to that by now. She just hoped he knew where Gary was, and didn’t make her jump through too many hoops to get it –
And then admitted that, by saying that out loud, she’d probably jinxed herself. XD I ended on Victor crossing his fingers that she hadn’t, and Alice doing the same – tomorrow, Victor gets dropped off at the hotel, and Alice heads to Isaac’s! Where she will learn that yes, she did indeed jinx herself. :p
3. Watch something on YouTube: No check – while I technically had the time this evening thanks to the Workout Video Write-Up not taking ages for a change, I spent said time leaving a comment on the latest chapter of my friend Nebby’s fanfic “MediEvil Resurrection II!” Wanted to make sure I got it done tonight if I could, and I’m happy to say I succeeded. :)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Just one check – there was nothing happening on Valice Multiverse tonight, so I didn’t have to worry about that one. And as for Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – well, since it’s the beginning of Pride Month, I went with a Pride theme for the next three days –
A) A reblog of my post of gender and sexuality headcanons for Victor Van Dort, Alice Liddell, Victoria Everglot, Emily Cartwell-Merrimack, Christopher White, Richard Hatter, Preston Garvey, Piper Wright, Smiler Alton, Lizzie Liddell, Sam “Bonejangles” Thatcher, Doc Brown, Marty McFly, Clara Clayton, and Jennifer Parker for Wednesday
B) A reblog of my final post featuring the Polyheart OT3 House (that house I did shaped like a heart with a variant of the polyamory flag on the roof, which ended up being turned into a house for my Valicer OT3, complete with heart-shaped pool and heart-shaped greenhouse outside), and all the last little bits and pieces I added to it, for Thursday
C) And a reblog of luxiomahariel’s “sunrise progress flag” thread (with regular version and pixel version, plus an explanation of why there’s a lavender stripe in the flag when ace-aussie-asshole was like “there’s a secret third thing to go with the restored “sex” and “magic” stripes?” – turns out it’s for diversity), which I found on polyamorousmood’s blog and really liked, for Friday
So that’s nice, I think. :) Still gotta come up with a Song Saturday, but we can worry about that tomorrow!
*nods* And there you have it. And now I have to head to bed, as I am tired. *yawns* Night all!
