Update On Computer Situation

crossover_chickYesterday, I had a desktop PC and a laptop PC.
Today, I have a laptop PC and a box of parts.
Yeah, the Old POS finally breathed its last. The computer guy told us that it was an issue with the motherboard and that it wasn't worth fixing. He gave us a box full of the good parts and the old case, charged us $30 bucks for his time, and off we went.
So, yes, this is a one-computer room once again. I've just spent some time getting Chester set up the Old POS was. I have all of my bookmarks (well, those I cared about/actually remembered) and LJ Login accounts, I have MSN Messenger (for Hotmail Alerts) and AIM, I have all my stories, pictures, and music. Just have to install some more software (camera, WordPerfect, possibly the MP3 player but I think that's plug & play, American McGee's Alice) and I guess I"m set.
Gonna be an adjustment period though for sure. I mean, I like my laptop, but I'm used to being on the desktop at this time of night. Also, have to fiddle with the sound, because Chester's speakers kinda suck. Still, this could have turned out a lot worse than it did. Dad's going to see if he can use my old power supply in another computer, and since NaNo meant the only story I was working on was "Secundus. . . ." (The Old POS did power on this morning, so I was able to save my work from yesterday -- whew!)

Thanks. I might decide to get a new desktop later, but for now I think I'll stick with just Chester. Thank God for flash drives, that's all I can say. . .
