Snowy Rainy Friday
Jan. 20th, 2023 11:49 pmWe had on-and-off snow flurries most of the day, mixed with rain and sleet -- it didn't amount to anything, as the ground was too warm and wet, but it definitely made it feel like winter! I'm just glad the worst of it was while I was at work, and not during my commutes in or out. And tomorrow's supposed to be okay, but the wintery weather returns on Sunday...suppose I should just be grateful we haven't been hit by any major storms yet! We shall see...
At any rate, here is the sum-up of my day --
Work – Another fairly quiet day – one credit card call to update a pledge, and that was about it. Also had to show the new assistant director how we do the GL, but that didn’t involve people calling in. :p Most of the day was spent doing obituaries and duplicates and watching it snow/rain/snow some more out the window. Glad to be home!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – a final night on the bike this week, getting through the following –
A) The end of Episode 18 of James Turner’s High School Years Rags To Riches generational epic! Second half of that episode saw Reginald reach the top of his career and get a raise the very next day; woohoo with Kevin in the shower and then officially become boyfriends with him; and start writing screenplays and research papers to get even more money. Because it is a Rags To Riches, AND Reginald has his eye on the old Bigwallet Emporium for his future clothing store (the renovated factory that the original founder, Lady, turned into an art gallery, and that Kat, the Cats & Dogs/Jungle Adventures-era heir, turned into a museum for her Selvadoradan treasures), meaning he needs LOTS of capital to buy it. Based on what I’ve seen in the thumbnails for future videos, he does get it, but I have no idea how long it takes – I’m not even halfway through the playlist at this point. XD We’ll find out eventually!
B) A video on secrets, Easter Eggs, and other interesting bits of information surrounding The Smiler! This was just a fun trivia video, talking about such things as how more of the inversions were supposed to be hidden in the initial plans for the ride (currently there’s just one hidden roll at the very beginning); how the old satellite dishes from The Smiler’s predecessor, the Black Hole, were repurposed into being part of the Marmaliser in the middle of the ride (they’re on the top); how there’s a floating door to nowhere right in the opening tunnel (the creator, Theme Park Realm, thinks it’s an old maintenance door that USED to open onto a temporary floor while they were building the ride); and how the ride community initially though that the coaster was going to have a spinning tunnel, like a washing machine, in it to account for all the inversions (the park has added an image of a washing machine to the Marmaliser videos to tease everyone for thinking that). XD Good stuff!
C) And a video showing the Smiler in operation in 2020, because I just like videos showing the coaster in action and that was the first one that popped up. It does look like a fun ride. . .maybe one day!
2. Continue writing “The Joker And The Queen:” Check – talk has transitioned from shock at the fact Victor’s a Van Dort to the others discussing their own family lives: Thirteen getting kicked out with her older sister Prudence when she was a young teen for dabbling in the occult; Rita picking up a love of speed from her pit crew father; Oblivion growing up at least kinda rich thanks to his rock star dad; and Air’s parents having her late in life and thus kinda doting on her. Fun to start fleshing these guys out a little more! :) Still gotta do Wickerman and Smiler, of course, though at least with the latter I know a lot more about THEIR family history. XD
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Another two-thirds day, due to Game Night taking up a fair whack of time (played Scrabble Slam and Sorry Revenge card games, with Mom kicking my and Dad’s asses at both) – and as I skipped Gray on Wednesday, I skipped Kevin today. Should have some time tomorrow to catch up! As it stands –
A) First up, the latest from Josh Way – “SKETCHY: Frodo!” A double-shot of Frodo Baggins (as played by Elijah Wood), where Josh first tried to do a somewhat-cartoony portrait of Frodo from a reference photo, decided he didn’t quite like it, then moved onto a full-body shot of Frodo leaving the Shire – only to struggle with the face so much in THAT drawing he ended up going back to his portrait, copy-pasting it onto a lower layer, and then redrawing it on his new full-body drawing. XD Despite all his troubles, though, it came out good, and he admitted to being a LOTR fan, so it seems we’ll be getting more of that content in the future! I’m game!
B) And then it was over to GrayStillPlays and “When you drive through 9,201,222 sawblades,” aka Gray plays Mega Ramp Car Jumping! Another one of those mobile games where you jump a car off a ramp with the intent of hitting a bullseye, and if you don’t hit the bullseye you instead get money for how spectacularly you failed. XD This one started with a ramp featuring such things as multiple spike pits and various grinders, then moved to a water slide through a cityscape under construction, to a rickety mountain horror, to essentially a level from Portal, to flying through a thumbnail hole in the International Space Station, to flying over a series of floating islands, to KIND OF EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE. And cars that ranged from a standard yellow taxi-like sedan, to gold plated monster trucks, helicopters, and tanks, to an off-brand BTTF DeLorean. XD Gray had a lot of fun figuring out the trick of each level, the best car for it (hint – never choose the gold-plated tank, no matter how funny it looks), and how to get the most points (hint – the big portal level has the most distance and thus the most opportunity for flips). Well, I say that, he WAS begging for the torture to end by the final board, but that’s just Gray for “my enclosure has been sufficiently enriched for the day.” XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Uh – N/A, as there’s literally nothing going on on Valice Multiverse, and I’m good on Victor Luvs Alice. *shrug* Okay then! I gotta find more fandom reblog stuff or meme posts for Valice Multiverse for dry periods like this. . .
And that's about it, apart from me answering Moose's messages. Been a fairly low-key day, honestly! *shrug* Fine by me. At any rate, I'm still doing a bit of the social thing, then its off to bed. Tomorrow, YouTube catch up times, more "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland," and I suspect just a bit of building/remodeling in Sims 4 -- while the patch proved to be just a bugfixing patch in preparation for two new Kits (ugh), I did intend to put up my camper build after the next patch while waiting for mods to be updated, and I do want to do a "mean" version for a challenge idea floating around in my head. XD We'll see what happens! For now, night all!
