Focused Cold Saturday

crossover_chickYeah, the day started at 57 F and just got COLDER as the day went on. I have brought out my big purple blanket again because I think I might actually need it tonight. It is kind of frightening, the extremes we're ping-ponging between lately! Please, weather, I would like a happy medium. . .
However, the cold, icky, cloudy day WAS good for getting through my chosen to-do list, at least:
Cleaning: Covered the cleaning in pretty good time today – started at 10:41 AM with the dusting, and finished with the vacumming at about 1:11 PM, right before lunch (admittedly because we just had leftover pizza from yesterday and Mom was just keeping it warm in the oven until I was ready). Laundry (sheets and bathrobe) got mixed in with the stuff Mom was already doing – added it to the pile around 10:51 AM, got the last of it back at – well, I got it at 6:30 PM, right before my shower, but I suspect it was ready before then. XD Still, all done for another two weeks, yaaay.
Writing: Ended up going with the personal comfort fic that I was working on before over more “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland” – it’s what I was feeling! I, uh, won’t go into detail because what I wrote was straight-up raunchy (to say the LEAST), but let’s just say that Victor’s finished his marmalization process and is now being a good boy for his Mistress and his Owner. :p They’re all having a very good time, and will continue to have a good time for the foreseeable future.
YouTube: Got through my OXBox RE4 Remake Marathon, w000! With a break in between the first two episodes and the last two episodes for Merge Dragons, a shower, and dinner, of course. I ended late enough that I had to skip GrayStillPlays for the day, but hopefully I can catch up on that tomorrow. . .in the meantime, here’s the four episodes from my Watch Later that I enjoyed today –
A) “Resident Evil 4 Remake: CASTLE GIFT SHOP | Let's Play Resident Evil 4 Chapter 7” – the first episode of the castle, with Leon and Ashley meeting Ramon Salazar and having to shoot loads of his henchmonks and navigate their way through his fiddly as hell castle to try and meet Luis in the courtyard for plaga suppressant, only for Ashley to get taken over by Saddler and try to knife Luis before putting the blade to her own neck and walking backwards just long enough for a gate to slam down between them. Ooof. Also featured Mike still shipping Leon and Luis when Luis somehow got access to Leon’s special earpiece; everyone making jokes about the merchant shop at the very beginning being the Castle Gift Shop; Mike being baffled about the idea of storing guns in a typewriter (aka the typewriters you save at also allow you to store weapons you aren’t currently using); Andy exploding a monk trying to kidnap Ashley at point-blank range with a cannon in the outdoor section; weird camera angles on Salazar, really highlighting his new “Margaret Thatcher” look; Leon swinging across chandeliers like a boss in the pursuit of doors and treasure; Andy trying desperately to keep a positive attitude while shooting loads of monks trying to kidnap Ashley at various points; the gang realizing where the castle’s wealth comes from – apparently they struck oil in the water fountains; and oh yes, a bunch of the floors in the outdoor areas being completely transparent, meaning you could see through them at the textures below, which everyone found amusing if extremely disorienting. XD Good stuff, as per usual!
B) “Resident Evil 4 Remake: SPIDER SCORPIONS NOO | Let's Play Resident Evil 4 Chapter 8” – the second episode of the castle, with Leon having to search for Ashley after she ran off after getting Saddler-controlled for a bit, shooting his way through a perfect choke point of evil monks (and nuns! Some of the enemies in this version ARE explicitly female!), having an unpleasant reunion with one Ada Wong (in which he tried VERY HARD to stab her lots with a knife), doing puzzles with doors marked with suns and moons, and having to find another cannon with which to shoot an El Gigante which was armored against such things as knives being stuck into its back and dogs, before finally finding a crying Ashley and giving her a pep talk about how it’s okay that she sliced him up, he knows it wasn’t her, but she can’t run from her problems and they’ll figure out a way through this together, yay. Also featured Andy telling the Merchant that he could probably start calling Leon by name. . .only to realize later that oh, yeah, I don’t know YOUR name either; Andy making perfect use of that perfect choke point of monks and nuns while trying to get a crimson lantern for a puzzle – only to discover later he could have dropped a chandelier on the lot; the gang talking over part of Leon and Ada’s conversation at the beginning (when he said it was a hell of a greeting after six years, her pulling a gun on him) and thus being very confused when she said that if they ran into each other later, she’d give him that “greeting” he was hoping for; the discovery of the horrible “spider scorpion” plagas which skitter along walls VERY unpleasantly and take control of other enemies by crawling on their backs (none of the OXBox crew was a fan); everyone teasing Leon for being a himbo when he commented that “now he got it” when he looped back around to the start of the “sun/moon doors and their switches” section after having to dodge all the shit being thrown at him by the armored El Gigante; poor Leon getting HAMMERED by the El Gigante’s hits while trying to fight the regular enemies swinging morningstars and axes at him from behind shields and getting lots of pity herbs from the game; Andy ALMOST shooting one enemy off of a perch (unfortunately the corpse didn’t flop down far enough, to everyone’s disappointment) and ACTUALLY kicking another off the castle walls (Mike immediately declared it his favorite kill XD); and everyone calling Leon a Brave Strong Boy for everything he has to put up with. Which, to be fair, is a good description of him – poor Leon DOES go through a lot! He needs all the hugs. As does Ashley.
C) “Resident Evil 4 Remake: NIGHTY NIGHT KNIGHTS | Let's Play Resident Evil 4 Chapter 9” – the third episode of the castle, featuring Leon and Ashley getting news from Luis that he needed rescuing from the ballroom and having to get three heads to mount on a chimera statue to open the path (facing nasty enemies and silly puzzles along the way), then Leon getting stuck in a cage and getting to be cutscene awesome while the trio played the Requisite Ashley Section of her going around and finding the way to unlock Leon from the cage while dealing with horrible plaga-infested suits of armor – before getting kidnapped by yet another big old monster to end the chapter, meeeh. Also featured Mike and Jane getting more Leon/Luis action with Luis asking “Prince Charming” to come and rescue him; Andy loathing the hedge maze section, its weird flag-based lock system, and its muppet dog enemies (some with extra tentacles); Mike delivering Crow News (he found that video of a crow snowboarding down a roof on a jam jar lid); the gang getting excited for a fast-travel cart and comparing it to the Haunted Mansion ride at Disney; Andy being bad at that one section where the floor drops down and you have to kill a load of monks if you don’t kill the lever guy in time (first time, he didn’t kill lever guy in time, and apparently Leon got his HEAD bitten off by an enemy, in a bit that was promptly edited by Producer Jon; second time, he DID kill lever guy in time, but then accidentally jumped down while hunting blue medallions and couldn’t get back to Ashley in time to prevent her being kidnapped; third time was the charm, complete with a cool cinematic kill on lever guy); Leon saying the episode’s title after murdering a bunch of plaga armors with Ashley’s help, and everyone being charmed at the cheesiness; the gang encountering a puzzle to unlock the chimera’s snake head that required a woman to sit at a certain place setting at a dining room table and a man to sit at another, and deliberately having Ashley sit in the man’s place and Leon in the woman’s to test if the chairs could detect gendered butts (they could not, and the puzzle was solved); everyone marveling over how cool Cutscene Leon was (with Andy trying to take the credit); and Andy getting lost in the library multiple times trying to get Ashley past the horrible one-hit-kill plaga armors to put a crest in the right place to open the door to get to Leon (to be fair, I would not do any better in his position). Poor Ashley – all she had in her section was a knight-freezing blue light lantern, and even THEN she had to leave it behind to solve the puzzle that GOT her the crest in the first place, relying solely on her dodging and running skills. Which we know aren’t the best, as she keeps getting kidnapped. Though she only died twice, so they’re not THAT bad, I guess. :p
D) “Resident Evil 4 Remake: TALK ABOUT STICKING THE LANDING | Let's Play Resident Evil 4 Chapter 10” – and finally, the fourth episode in the castle, in which Ada is actually useful for five seconds and gives Leon a hint as to where Ashley is being taken (the throne room), Leon has to battle his way there through a ballroom fully infested with lots of horrible fly-creatures and another room with two of those horrible Wolverine-clawed monsters attracted to sound – only to arrive too late to stop the cultists forcing Ashley to drink the black water, and then Leon gets thrown down a horrible death pit and then has to stumble around in the castle’s laboratory basement waiting for the world’s slowest lift while avoiding and occasionally freezing the Legally Distinct From A Xenomorph plagas creature. Oh, and when he finally got in the elevator, he had one of his plagas visions that revealed his old mentor Krauser was with the bad guys. At least Luis was there at the end! Also featured Mike making a horrible joke about how he says there’s “something big going down in the throne room” whenever he uses the bathroom (Andy and Jane were so ashamed XD); Andy attempting to snipe the golden knight from the masoleum right in the eye, only for the game not to let him; Andy registering his distinct distaste for the horrible fly monsters and saying Salazar was right to seal off the ballroom and leave it to them; Andy being clawed regularly by the horrible blind Wolverine monsters as he attempted to deal with the scrubs, and being forced to use his nice heavy grenade when his knife broke from too many stabbings in the back; everyone being impressed with Leon’s intense upper body strength when he was able to save himself from the drop into the bottomless pit by grabbing onto a chain and basically sliding down it almost to the end; everyone groaning at the Leon’s “sticking the land” quip, made about a dead body stuck on a pike in his way; Andy being utterly shocked that the Merchant had set up shop in a sewer (“what kind of foot traffic are you getting here??”); Andy getting constantly tail-whipped by the Legally Distinct From A Xenomorph because he kept stopping to open chests; everyone complaining about the world’s slowest lift; and everyone being very glad to see Luis and his roguish grin at the end. A delightful ending to the marathon!
So yeah, that was good -- and while I didn't do anything on tumblr besides keep up with my dashboard, I did take some time tonight to make sure I got all my pictures for the next Chill Valicer Save update sorted! 65 pictures, so, about standard length. XD Tomorrow, we'll catch up with GrayStillPlays and watch Jon's latest; play a little Fallout 4 and see about finishing off East Boston Prep, with the appropriate updates to the Playthrough Progression; get my drafting for this week's tumblr updates started; and start "Knight Shift," the next Oxventure, with my workouts. Sounds like a plan, anyway -- night all!
