The day itself wasn't that exciting, as the "work" section of my to-do list will show, but I've definitely kept myself busy this evening, that's for sure --

Work – Quiet return to work – mostly because the person at Fiscal who has to review our reports has been out and won’t be back until tomorrow, so it’s still just hanging around doing whatever roster maintenance we can find (and that’s running out a bit quicker these days because both my coworkers are back in now). I did the morning reports, spent some time catching up on e-mails and doing a QC file for another billing, and then fiddled around with returned mail and obituaries. Not a particularly exciting day, and not improved by my period malaise at all, but I’ve had much worse!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike today, and back to Oxventure Presents: Blades In The Dark – “The Dead of Cornelius Bagshot!” Kasimir and Zillah, in need of a body double for their scheme of faking their client Cornelius’s death by killing another person in his steed, went out in some borrowed fancy person clothes and pearls down one of the local “crime alleys,” talking about how insured the pearls were in loud voices in the hopes of getting jumped by an appropriate-looking thief. Kasimir’s attempt to “hunt” this thief didn’t go well, but fortunately he was able to use his Spider abilities to help with Zillah’s roll, and she got a four – success with a complication! Luke ruled that this meant they were indeed jumped by a thief, but the thief did not resemble Cornelius – he was smaller and much more wiry. The pair decided to make it work, and Zillah just walked up to him, grabbed him by the throat, and choked him out so they could drag him off to the Bagshot estate. That set up the score proper (as Luke ruled “all further planning must be done via the use of flashbacks”), and after going through all the things that could plus or minus dice (bold and daring score, BUT their enemies are DEFINITELY going to be there), Luke rolled the single die for the engagement roll.

And got a one. Yeah. Luke set the scene thusly – Kasimir and Zillah were at the estate with Cornelius, pretending to be auctioneer assistants and helping to herd all the auction invitees through the house and into the communal back garden area to take their seats, when suddenly the thief they’d captured came SPRINTING through the house, having woken up and gotten free of his bonds. Cornelius himself panicked and started shouting about assassins, and it was up to Kasimir and Zillah to fix this mess! Zillah promptly went after the thief, tackling him expertly on the front steps with a 6 to her “grabbing a guy” roll and choking him out again while imploring him NOT to say anything that would make him personally endearing (like his name or if he has any kids). She dragged him into the servant’s entrance, then up into the drawing room where she bound him up PROPERLY this time and stuffed him into one of Cornelius’s suits, bulked up by feathers from the mattress. XD Kasimir, meanwhile, produced two fine pistols from his coat and told the startled guests to just stay calm and head outside so they could have their lovely little auction. A few rough types gave him and Cornelius long looks (notably a shaved man who’d been heading for Cornelius before Kasimir pulled his pistols, and a cloaked woman who told Cornelius he’d better have the cash by the end of this), but everyone did go outside and get seated. Kasimir reassured Cornelius that everything was fine, the sprinting guy was just someone from their gang who had a nervous tummy, and that no one was going to be hurt, they were just going to have this guy LOOK like he died and ring a bell to sell the illusion (lies), all Cornelius had to do was go wait by the front door, no, you cannot have a drink. XD This is when Zillah arrived with the unconscious, Cornelius-ed up thief –

But uh-oh, despite pushing herself, she only rolled a three on her Finesse roll to disguise him, and thus the thief was just shedding feathers EVERYWHERE. Kasimir quickly came up with a plan – silhouette the guy by turning off all the lamps in the house and shining a lantern behind him (after initially getting it backwards), producing a lantern he’d knicked off a whaling boat for that purpose (he promised Zillah that if he’d taken it off one of her relatives, he’d return it, apologize, and buy them a month’s worth of oil, which she deemed fair). Zillah herself used a flashback to construct a frame to hang their unfortunate thief in and do a little light puppeteering (making his hand wave and such), and after wrestling that out from behind the drapes, mounting the thief, fending off a curious estate agent wondering why they weren’t being allowed a proper tour of the house (Kasimir shoving some house blueprints at him and essentially going “if you love auctions so much you run one” at him before slamming the door in his face XD), getting their silhouette set up, and getting Cornelius to throw his voice briefly to sell the illusion, Kasimir set off his bomb, and Cornelius booked it to the front door where the horse and cart were, and Kasimir and Zillah popped downstairs into the basement via a handy coal-chute trap door that Zillah flashbacked in. :p

But oh yes – there was the little matter that Kasimir’s beloved bomb is of inferior make, wasn’t there? And indeed, Luke explained that what Kasimir had thought was a bomb was in fact a FIREWORK, and now Kasimir and Zillah were in the cellar beneath a house set ablaze, with the very-much-NOT-unconscious thief screaming for help and a few of the auction-goers preparing to mount a rescue if they could. Eeep! Well, we’ll see how this all actually bangs out on the morrow – I PRESUME they will somehow pull this off, but I can’t imagine how. . .

2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – I have found a reference video, and Alice has made it into the maze! So far she hasn’t gotten particularly far – just through the first couple of rooms, going from upright to sideways and looping back around on herself a bit. But she’s found the door that she needs to get through to proceed – mostly because she fell through it crawling over it. XD We’ll see how her adventures in the creepiest part of the mansion proceed from there!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Half-check – I remain a day behind on GrayStillPlays, but I couldn’t take TOO long on YouTube, given all the tumblr queuing I had to do (see below). But I did find the time to watch yesterday’s offering – “Testing Cars vs Inverted Ramps in GTA 5!” Another Alex (and Petey!) Torture Board – or, rather, a trio of them, reached via increasingly steep ramps that shot Gray out like a glitchy bullet to their targets. (No, I’m not sure where the “inverted” in the title ever came in.) The first ramp was a blue ramp at 30 degrees, and that led to the Alcohol Wall Ride – a wall ride made from the bottom of giant beer bottles (with a couple of water spouts at the end for flavor – plus a troll teleporter at the side and an invisible wall in case Gray tried to cheat and go over the top), which then led into a beer bottle leapfrog, then a spiral, then past a final spinning bottle into the checkpoint. The second ramp was yellow and 40 degrees, and that led into the Fake Drink Thumbnail Holes Road Hop And Carousel – Gray had to jump from road section to road section in his super car by going through the fake drink (soda cans, slushies, and beer bottles) in each wall of treats, before landing on a carousel of food items that he had to drive through against the spin to reach the checkpoint (and also, midway through, windmills appeared, because of course they did XD). The third ramp was green and 50 degrees, and THAT led into The Loop Transfers – a series of partial loops stacked together like a particularly steep roller coaster track, where Gray had to transfer between each curve by flipping his car over with the dummyproofing on the end (which was REALLY HARD in third person, but he refused to use first person for any significant length of time because then the footage would be worse). And all of that led to the pink 60 degrees ramp, where Gray was allowed to transcend time and space by going so fast he glitched out of the game (and took all the color with him). XD Good stuff as always!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! It took most of the night, with me bouncing back and forth between my two tumblrs, but I have gotten everything that I needed to get done, done –

Victor Luvs Alice – Finished off the text on the final three posts of the big Chill Valicer Save Wedding Update and queued all that up for tomorrow! Also threw in a A:MR fanart reblog and a CB gif set reblog for Thursday and Friday respectively – I think I’ve earned keeping it simple for most of the rest of the week! (I say “most” because I do have a gift fic to queue up for Saturday, but that can wait until tomorrow.)

Valice Multiverse – My friend Brynlee Marie kept me busy today, that’s for sure – I threw two thread replies for our current threads, a reply to the starter she whipped up today for the new thread we planned a little while back (involving a crossover with a favorite manga/anime of hers, Black Butler), and a reblog of a set of her own Not-Incorrect Quotes featuring the Valicer version of her own Valice OC kid Madeline into my queue over there. Plus she sent a few messages regarding her planned revamp of her Malkavian!Maddie character, so I guess I should look out for something involving that in the future!

Whew! Glad I got Moose's messages and such done the other day. . .as it stands, I'm off to bed. We'll see what comes on the morrow -- night all!
