My Boring Life, Let Me Show You It
Feb. 23rd, 2008 11:00 pmDidn't get to go home early yesterday -- damn you for petering out, snow. Luckily, a random rereading of some old Narbonic storylines pretty much killed my annoyance.
-TD: You'd think it would put you in the mood for "Boy Genius." Write, woman!-
If it makes you feel any better, I'm almost to the point of saying, "screw it" and posting.
-TD: Good. You go do that.-
-D: Seriously, Victoria, you ought to write something.-
Fine, I'll write about Andrew Sparks.
-D: . . . You LOVE doing that, don't you?-
:p I've been meaning to add his description for a while now. And it gives RPD something to lord over me.
-RPD: Fair enough. Still planning to add Fred to the roster?-
Indeed. What are the Wizened soliders called again?
-VuM: Wizened? Aren't those the short ones?-
They don't HAVE to be short. Fred can be one of the weirdly tall ones. Hell, it would give me an excuse to get him talking to the main cast -- everyone thinks Doc is a Wizened, while everyone refuses to believe Fred is. The solider kith is the only one I could use for him anyway, given his mental illness.
-RPD: What about George? You've got a choice now between Darkling Antiquarian and Wizened Author.-
Yeeps, I know. And I have gone rather Darkling-happy -- Victor's a Gravewright, and my own Allysin is a Mirrorskin. My problem is, he's only there for an afternoon, which ain't much time to change him.
-RPD: Eh, I'm sure you'll think of something. *jokingly* After you get the next book.-
I like Changeling! Though I do need to read more of "Winter Masques." Damn distracting life.
Anyway, been hanging out on the web for most of today. Not much interesting happening there, sadly. I also played some Alice -- I'm up to Checkmate in Red, shortly before I'm to battle the Red King. Then HATTER TIME! *squee*
-HD: *frowns* You're getting far too excited. The Richard of the games looks nothing like his fan interpetation.-
Creepy confession time -- Game!Richard is starting to look good to me too.
-HD: *chokes on tea* What?!-
Come on, it's really not all that bad a base to work off of.
-OD: *tentacles chatter* This is the straitjacket thing, isn't it?-
Ha ha. I should have never said anything about that.
-M2: Yeah, you shouldn't have. We really didn't need to know.-
Incidentally, I found a neat little easter egg. In the Pale Realm -- Castling level, you enter the White Castle after the Queen is captured and end up at one point on a balcony overlooking the main floor. There's four pictures, two on each side wall. I noticed with some surprise that there's a picture of Alice on the right wall, and went to investigate the other. To my delight, it was one of the Tenniel illustrations for the original book! Said illustration being the part where the Card royalty are arguing about excuting the floating head of the Cheshire Cat. On the other wall is a picture of a guy I assume is Lewis Carroll himself, and the Mad Hatter illustration. Cool, huh?
-DW: An amazing attention to detail, at any rate.-
Yeah, I know. The graphics aren't really that great compared to some of the stuff you can see today, but I still feel like pausing during the quiet spots to look at the scenery.
We're also watching some of the old "Outer Limits" over supper these days. So far? Ye GODS, it's a stupid show. I especially like the Xanthis Misfits, where everyone was freaking out over these little ant aliens with cartoony faces. There's slews of bad acting, bad writing, bad everything. Makes me long for the goodness of "Twilight Zone."
-VD: Well, it was the 60s.-
Come on, you can't expect me to believe even people in the 60s thought this was great. Campy, maybe--
-VD2: You seem to forget that the 60s were a time of great experimentation with drugs.-
. . . Nope, I can't see the Xanthis Misfits being scary even on a bender.
-D: I'm sure they must improve over time.-
We can only hope -- we've still got two episodes to go. And if they don't -- we can just keep snarking, I guess.
Okay, off to write and read and all that good stuff.
