Bit Of A Snippy Monday
Nov. 17th, 2025 11:53 pmBy which I mean I was grumpy for a non-zero portion of the day thanks to stuff like my sleep getting interrupted by an early-morning trip to the bathroom and nightmares involving speeding cars and car crashes (not being in one, just witnessing one); it being cold and windy again today; my dad leaving his damn truck in the middle of the damn driveway again, forcing me to pull into the driveway of the nearby park and call Mom to move it; and finding both wet and dirty dishes in the cupboard drawer that I had to rewash. *grumbles* I know at least some of this is PMS (I've been a lot more distracted today too), but still. Could have done without all the annoyances! *shakehead* At least the day was reasonably productive:
Work – It was a fairly “meh” first day back at work this week – not great, but not terrible either:
A) I did the GL, which took like a half-hour because all that was posted on Friday was one money order and one check
B) I went through the failed credit cards, which also took like no time because there was only three of them
C) I went through the daily obituaries out of the paper – again, there were only three of them (plus one “remembering you on the date of your death” notice and a brief article about someone hit by a car), but I managed to stretch working on them out a bit by looking up duplicate names and whatnot
D) I took a handful of phone calls – three from people looking to either do a credit card gift or update their payment method on their pledge, and someone who was trying to set up an interview (not sure how the hell she ended up calling our office, but I eventually got her to HR)
E) I went through the latest QC file for the next Capital Campaign billing coming up
F) And I did a few reversals at the end of the day, moving overpayments into the next campaign year
Nothing particularly exciting, as you can see! But at least I managed to fill the day. We’ll see what happens tomorrow!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike tonight, and back with Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl! Despite the best efforts of the TV remote – I think the batteries are going in it again. But I still got through almost forty minutes of:
A) Gromit coming home, finding Wallace drugged up with Snoozy-Choc, discovering the gnomes were all in the process of building something in the basement, and running to wake his master – only for the gnomes to have totally cleaned everything up by the time he roused Wallace
B) PC Mukherjee and Inspector Mackintosh arriving at the house, accusing Wallace of “theft via gnome,” and seeking to confiscate the gnomes as their evidence – only for them to have vanished from the basement entirely; Mackintosh thus headed off to get his mustache trimmed while Mukherjee confiscated all of Wallace’s inventions
C) Wallace and Gromit having a tough morning, with Gromit being unable to figure out where the hell the gnomes went despite his best efforts and Wallace proving he’d become a little TOO dependent on technology by being unable to figure out how a teapot worked – and then an angry mob of neighbors showed up demanding their stuff back, which didn’t help matters
D) Gromit sneaking into the station to steal back the gnome-tracking device Wallace made to figure out where the gnomes went...and tracking them down to the zoo, where he discovered that they’d made a submarine for Feathers McGraw and were picking him up in it
E) Feathers spotting Gromit spying and trying to get the original Norbot to “take care of him” by sending him crashing down into the lion cage – only for Norbot, having sawed off the ENTIRE branch of the tree Gromit was on, to fall down with him and land on his back, activating his reset function and turning him good again
F) Gromit escaping the lion’s den with Norbot and heading to the new Blue Diamond exhibition to try and catch Feathers as Mackintosh and Mukherjee put the diamond back on display – only for it to be revealed the item in the bag was a turnip all this time, and that the gnomes and Feathers had actually gone to West Wallaby St
G) Gromit heading back home to rescue Wallace, only to get tricked and tied up with his master, and Feathers revealing himself and smashing open their teapot to reveal that, in a desperate gambit all those years ago, he switched the diamond with a turnip while Wallace was on the phone to the police and hid the diamond in the teapot
H) Feathers locking Wallace and Gromit in a closet and then heading off in the (now gnome-powered) van to freedom – only for Norbot, doing chores, to accidentally provide the pair with a leafblower when he put it in the closet, allowing Gromit to use it to propel them all out of the house and give chase
I) Wallace, Gromit, and Norbot chasing down Feathers, forcing him to go down an alley full of banana peels and crash; Feathers promptly switched to using a canal boat to make his getaway, and Wallace, Gromit, and Norbot commandeered Mackintosh’s personal pleasure barge to continue the chase...at hilariously low speed XD
J) Mackintosh and Mukherjee joining the chase on Mukherjee’s bicycle, and Mukherjee spotting Feathers on one of the barges – cue Feathers very rapidly dressing up as a nun to fool Mackintosh when she tried to point him out to her superior
K) Wallace, prompted by Gromit, coming up with a boot-flinging invention to reboot all the other gnomes (who were tossing flowerpots at their boat), and Mukherjee taking advantage of one of the flying boots to get rid of Mackintosh so she could follow her gut and direct her fellow cops to chase the REAL criminal
L) Feathers getting tired of the slow speed chase and jazzing up his barge with some speedboat engines – cue Gromit roping the barges together so they could keep up; Wallace falling off, ending up accidentally water-skiing when Gromit threw him a life ring, then getting flung back onto dry land for a bit, where he ripped a potty tent off an unfortunate camper and before crashing into a giant carton of vegetables – being filled up by none other than the Farmer from Shaun The Sheep; and Feathers managing to cut through the rope holding the two barges together, only for Gromit to make a fantastic leap onto his vessel
And that is where I left it! Tomorrow, we finish things off with the big climatic showdown – and maybe I’ll start the other Netflix Aardman offering on there, Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget. Why not, right? :P
2. Work on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – got another page of Chapter 6 edited, featuring:
A) Alice leaving Pisha’s lair via the ceiling vent that leads back to the entrance of the hospital, muttering to herself about how this is NOT what she expected to encounter when she left her apartment and how she doesn’t want to send “Mr. Haunted LA” to Pisha to get minced – Cheshire informed her that wasn’t her only option and suggested she seek the counsel of the wizard-king first
B) Alice exiting the vent into the waiting room, commenting on how she’d wished she’d gotten “Mr. Haunted LA’s” actual name, as that would have made it much easier for her to track him down – only for Hatter to point out the business card he dropped on his way out
C) And Alice picking up and reading said business card – and going “What the absolutely fucking fuck” because, of course, the guy she’s looking for, Simon Milligan, lives in her apartment building. XD Cue her going on about ridiculous it is that everyone she needs to track down for whatever quest she’s currently working on seems to live in the same complex as her, and demanding to know if there are ANY Skyeline residents who haven’t yet become one of her persons of interest. Or died horribly, because they seem to do that a lot too. (“Whoever’s living on the floor immediately below you” Carpenter provided – because yes, Apartment 3 is the only apartment that you don’t HAVE to go in during the course of normal gameplay. You can sneak in and rob it if you want, sure, but it’s not related to any quests. Meaning the resident, Georgia Welch, is completely safe from all the nonsense and in fact does not actually have an NPC in the game. Given what VTMB can be like, she should consider herself lucky not to have a proper presence in it, honestly!)
Poor Alice – you’d think she’d be more grateful to live in such a convenient universe, but instead it only annoys her. XD Anyway, I left off with her preparing to head to Strauss’s to talk to him about Pisha and her eating habits. We’ll see what he has to say on the top of Nagaraja next time! (Though, given I just reached a mid-chapter break point, might be time to pivot to starting on all the gift fic I’ll be writing for the Christmas season...better start asking people what they want! Gigs, Moose, if you have any requests, let me know!)
3. Watch something on FreeTube/Invidious: Check – I got on FreeTube very late due to a combination of it taking a bit longer than anticipated to do both my writing, above, and my Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) queue, below – but fortunately I had a nice short video from OXBox waiting in my Subs – “GTA 6 Delayed AGAIN | We React to Internet Reactions!” Yes, much like the Paralives team recently announced that they were delaying the Early Access release of the game from December 8th, 2025, to May 26th, 2026 (apparently they need to add more life simulation to it, meeeh), Rockstar recently announced that GTA VI, set to come out in May of 2026, just got pushed back to November 19th, 2026. And the internet reacted completely normally to this announcement, as you might expect. XD Andy, Mike, and Jane took turns reading out the best reactions they could find, ranging from:
A) “I remember a interview or something where the lead guy said yes its most definitely coming out on the day we announced. Now its delayed??” – read by Andy, who really stressed how hurt this person was that they couldn’t trust the “lead guy” XD
B) “Me and my lil brother are already waiting for GTA VI. If the information is true, it’s beyond tolerance.” – read by Jane, who found the “beyond tolerance” thing both funny and excellent phrasing, and indicated she’d like to add it to her own vocabulary
C) “As someone with a newborn: Thank you. This gives me more time to sleep train my baby.” – read by Mike (appropriately, as he’s the father in the group), who found it very amusing that apparently Mum or Dad was going to be too busy GTA VI before to bother XD (“This is going to help your development, baby,” as per Jane!)
D) “Im so lucky I barely even crave this games release” – read by Andy, prompting Mike to start pretending to be the poster claiming not to want the game while scratching at himself compulsively XD (they think you doth protest too much, poster!)
E) “I feel like Rose in that Titanic scene.” – read by Jane, causing some confusion among the group before they realized the poster meant the bit at the beginning with her as an old lady, talking about how long it had been since she was on the boat, not any of the other more famous bits. None of them could remember exactly what she said in that scene, either – as someone relatively familiar with the meme, I’m pretty she says “It’s been eighty-four years…” But don’t quote me on that.
Good stuff! XD I do like them reacting to things on the internet. Good way to spend the time until GTA VI finally comes out, I suppose. :P
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – got my big nine-day-long queue for Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) sorted today! Starting with tomorrow’s 200-word RPG post, and running through the eight days of Valicer+ Polyship Week 2025! :D So now I don’t have to do anything with that at all this week, hooray~ Which means I can finally answer your messages tomorrow, Moose! Sorry for the delay!
And with that, I have to head to bed. Hopefully tomorrow will be less cranky for me, but we'll see. Night all!
