An Average Tuesday
Nov. 18th, 2025 11:43 pmJust -- not much to say about it that isn't in the daily write-up, soooo:
Work – It was a very quiet day at work today – after doing the usual morning reports, I spent a little time checking the “pledge overpayments and outright gifts to the wrong campaign year” report (some guy sent in twenty bucks more than he owes, which isn’t too bad at least), then spent pretty much the entire rest of the day on the obituaries and related roster maintenance tasks. With one interruption around lunchtime when one of the people I e-mailed about failed credit card payments yesterday called in to do a catch-up payment on his pledge AND set up a new recurring gift. *nods* Nothing too exciting, but it is nice to see people actually responding to my attempts to let them know something’s gone wrong with their pledge. We’ll see what Wednesday brings (other than another useless call with the credit card people).
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with Aardman movies on Netflix! Well, after I got Mom’s help in replacing the batteries in the remote for the downstairs TV because it was acting up again. :P Anyway, I pedaled my way through –
A) The end of Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl! Featuring:
I. Gromit successfully getting onto Feathers’s barge, and the two struggling over the diamond (show in flashes as they went through a mostly-pitch-black tunnel)
II. The pair finding themselves on a big narrow flume-like bridge over a huge drop as Wallace crashed back into his and Gromit’s barge, and PC Mukherjee got the gate closed so Feathers couldn’t escape over the Yorkshire border...only for Feathers to drift the boat so it was precariously balanced sideways on the edge of the bridge – with Gromit hanging off the end
III. Gromit revealing that he had the bag with the diamond, and Feathers making it clear that he should hand it over, or he’d tip the barge – Wallace told him to do as the penguin asked, not wanting to live without his best pal, and Gromit threw Feathers the bag...only for the rotten bird to then hop off the other end and drift down onto a train passing underneath with the help of an umbrella, leaving Gromit to die anyway
IV. Gromit desperately running up the falling barge, and Wallace JUST missing his paw as he fell...only for Norbot and his buddies to form a smart gnome chain and save him as the barge dropped into the chasm and exploded
V. Mackintosh catching up with everyone and demanding Wallace’s arrest, only for Mukherjee to show him that Feathers was the real mastermind, and was unfortunately escaping into Lancashire with the diamond...only for Feathers to pull, to his own shock, a turnip out of the bag instead, because Gromit pulled a switcheroo on him with all the vegetables Wallace brought with him when he came crashing back down. Cue Feathers sitting down on his escape train in numb defeat, Gromit handing the diamond over to the coppers, and Mackintosh clearing Wallace of all charges
VI. And a happy ending featuring Mukherjee taking over Mackintosh’s role and preparing to track down Feathers; Mackintosh enjoying retirement on his barge (at least, when he’s not chasing down watery speeders); and Wallace and Gromit sitting in the garden (which the Norbots are restoring to something Gromit likes) enjoying tea from their repaired teapot together, and Wallace giving Gromit a big old pat on the head. :) Yay~
B) The beginning of Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget! Because why not, I’ve only seen THAT one once at the beginning of the year too. I got through:
I. The opening with Rocky recounting the highlights of the first movie to his and Ginger’s egg, and Ginger telling him that they’d gotten their paradise and it was time to put the past behind them (aka put away all the stuff about the Tweedy chicken farm and Rocky’s time in the circus)
II. Said egg hatching into their daughter Molly, and said daughter growing up into a VERY feisty little pullet who is very curious about the land outside their little island, to Ginger’s growing concern – and she can only be distracted by Rocky showing her how to make popcorn for so long
III. Ginger seeing evidence of a new chicken farm being built somewhere on the opposite road, and calling a meeting of the older chickens, to tell them that they have to do something important – hide. The other chickens are all extremely relieved she’s not telling them to go storming in XD
IV. Molly learning of Rocky’s “lone free ranger” past when she finds his poster and convinces him to tell her about it, then spotting one of the chicken farm trucks going by on the road and wanting to go where it’s going as the chicken in a bucket on the side looks like it’s having loads of fun; cue her and Ginger getting into an argument about how she’s not old enough to leave the island, and how she has everything she could want at home...except, according to Molly, her freedom
V. And Ginger waking up from a nightmare about Mrs. Tweedy – to find that Ginger’s broken out in the middle of the night and made for the mainland
Good stuff! Tomorrow we pick up with – I THINK Molly meeting her new chicken friend Frizzle and the pair heading to the wonderful Fun-Land Farm, where things are not all as they seem...
2. Work on Christmas Gift Fic: Half-check, because I didn’t actually write anything – I was too busy answering all of Moose’s messages so they didn’t sit in my DW inbox for any longer – but I did send messages to all the people I generally write Christmas Gift Fics for on tumblr asking for ideas, and got replies from Nattie and Nebby talking about stuff they’d like to see, so I have a couple more prompts in hand at least! Which is always good. (And if you’re wondering why I’m soliciting them so early – a) I want to have them done in time for Christmas, and it’s good to leave some wiggle room for days when I’m feeling blah or uninspired, especially since b) I have to write TEN of these suckers. Eleven if I decide to try and get Moose’s birthday fic done early. It pains me to acknowledge Christmas before Thanksgiving, but it’s just practical in this case.)
3. Watch something on FreeTube/Invidious: No check – as per the above, I spent most of my night working on getting Moose’s messages sorted. I’ll see about catching up with the latest OXtra list video tomorrow!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: N/A – Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) is obviously done for the week, and there was nothing over on Valice Multiverse again. Which worked out because, again, needed to answer Moose’s messages already!
Yeah, uh, not my most productive day, but I finished the one thing I set out to do, so -- yay there, I guess! And now I should really get to bed so I'm not up half the night again. Night all!
