Sum-Up of The Mall Trip
May. 5th, 2016 11:23 pmWeather: Cold, drizzly, and generally miserable. Fortunately I didn't have to be out in it long, and I took my winter gear so I could bundle up. In May. *grumble*
Shopping: I went into this with two main goals -- get the latest issue of the BTTF comic, and get my mother's Mother's Day present. To my delight, I succeeded in both! Newbury's had a copy of the comic in their "independent" bin (it's the Norman Rockwell-inspired cover of Marty at dinner with the Baines in the first movie) -- it's a good read! Marty is proving to be something of an adrenaline junkie after so long without Doc to drag him into crazy adventures; Doc's amnesia is growing rather worrying, especially with what small tidbits keep coming back to him; Jennifer is concentrated awesome and TRIES to be the sane one of the group but the other two are SUCH a bad influence; Needles is coming into his own as an antagonist, even if the comic can't help constantly referencing his actor's role in the Red Hot Chili Peppers. (Guess who his favorite band is.) And there's a hell of a cliffhanger at the end of the issue -- can't wait for the next one! (And the upcoming adaptation of The Game too!)
As for the Mother's Day present -- had a wander around all the major department stores, thought I would have to postpone getting it because what I wanted seemed kind of expensive -- and then I found the perfect version at a good price during one last check of Bed, Bath & Beyond. :D Unfortunately, I did not manage to get a card. So Dad and I are going to handle that either tomorrow or Saturday.
I also got one unplanned purchase -- more BTTF minimates! Newbury's also had a few of the new sets, and I got the 1885 one with Festival Doc & Marty, Clara, and Seamus because I wanted Clara and her telescope. And the "Partners In Time" picture, which made me squee. I'll get pics later.
Playtime: Quiet times at Dave & Buster's -- I basically went around and hit every game I like one, plus a couple of new ones (an arcade version of Luigi's Mansion -- you know, where he fights ghosts? -- a ship shoot-em-up, and a Star Wars fly-around-and-shoot-things game which is basically your own personal IMAX experience -- awesome effects, but it's hard as SHIT to aim!). Lot of fun as always.
Food: Tried out the new carved turkey and bacon at Subway, despite a long line making me wonder if I should just eat at D & B's. The fact that the wait would probably be even longer in the "proper" restaurant and more expensive to boot eventually pushed me toward my usual option. Pretty good, I gotta say!
Even better was my Dairy Queen treat -- a Royal Blizzard. What's that? Well, it's your usual blizzard, except it comes with a special extra "core" of something. I got the Rocky Road Blizzard with a marshmallow core -- yum yum, let me tell you.
Post-Trip:
-->Finished edits on Chapter 4 of "Losing You!" I didn't expect to go straight to the end of the chapter, but then I ended up on a roll and -- yeah. I'll put that and Chapter 3 up tomorrow for your enjoyment!
-->Hopped on Sims 4 and finished up the Portal family by making Wheatley! He's the standard "blond, blue-eyed, kinda looks like Stephen Merchant" model, though I didn't actually look at any pictures of Mr. Merchant. I just went with what felt right. I struggled a bit with his aspiration, but figured he really wants not to be a moron, so I went ahead and made him a Knowledge Sim with the Renaissance Sim aspiration. He's also Outgoing, a Goofball, and Ambitious, as I felt that summed up pretty well. He and Chell are all moved in with Geeker, and I've remodeled the house to give them each a small bedroom. I also updated some of the other furnishings with the extra money they brought in, because hey, why not? So that's all set to go when I next play the household.
-->Got a new pet in Fallout Shelter by successfully fending out 10 mole rat attacks without a death! It's "Cattle Dog," and he improves how many Caps you get in the Wasteland by 14%. He's going to be Steve's dog when he gets back from his latest adventure. More money is always a good thing!
-->Caught up on "Comics Curmudgeon" and "Cake Wrecks," and I'm just about caught up on my main tumblr. Hooray! :D Still need to do queues for the RP ones, but it's still progress.
So yeah, good day! :) Even if the weather could be better. . .well, gotta take what you get. I'm off to continue my adventures in catching up. Night all!
