You can blame Helloween -- one of his latest videos was him playing the Resident Evil 7: Biohazard demo (which does not look like an RE game at ALL, from what I know about the series), and I decided to look it up on the site, and -- yeah. Throw in me having to go out with Mom once she got back from her bike ride with Dad to grab Father's Day gifts (plus Issue #8 of IDW's regular BTTF series, which fortunately remains pretty awesome), and it hasn't been the most productive of days. I did catch up with Helloween's RE stuff (the demo and another set of RE5 co-op with Rufert, including so much button mashing by poor Helloween), and I did start writing Chapter 4 of "In The Land of the Dead," so that's something, I suppose.

. . .Yes, I said "writing." You know how I went back to "Losing You" and decided, "Yeah, you know what? Victor's first meeting with Dr. Wilson should really be an actual chapter, instead of just something thrown out in a wad of exposition?" Something similar happened when I came to the next chapter of "In The Land of the Dead." In the current version of the story, there's a major timeskip from the first anniversary of the family's death to shortly before the twelfth (when Lizzie meets Bonejangles). I've always felt it was a touch abrupt, but I also didn't think it would do the story any favors to show too much of the intervening time, as the focus is supposed to be the adventures Lizzie and Bonejangles are having during the time period of "Finding You/Forgetting You" (plus their falling for each other). But while I was skimming over the previous Chapter 4, I came across another exposition dump detailing an off-screen visit to Rutledge.

Yeah, THAT'S getting its own chapter now. It's set around their second anniversary of death (November 12th, in fact, because you will pry my BTTF in-jokes from my cold, dead hands) and has the family venturing into the building hoping to find someone with some information on how Alice is doing. My thought is that Lizzie's going to be menaced by a dead orderly, take him down with some old equipment, then run and have a cry somewhere before meeting a patient who's able to give them a small update (not a particularly good one, of course, but still). This'll satisfy my need to show a bit more of Lizzie and her parents before the timeskip, make them look more active in seeking out info on Alice, and generally fix my old problem of having stuff that is arguably plot-important happen off-screen. Though I find it interesting both this new chapter and the previous one have to deal with Rutledge or its staff. . . I guess I'm just eager to flesh out the madhouse? *shrug* Got me.

Anyway, I'm gonna go ahead and take advantage of my last no-strings-attached night off to look up more awesome moments on TV Tropes. Pictures have arrived on iPad and computer, though, so I'll post those all up tomorrow! Sort of a "triumphant return from vacation-mode thing," I think. In the meantime, though, g'night! :)
