A quick driver update download, and I was good to go with Sims 2! Hurrah!
It looks pretty cool thus far. I liked the intro video, and the new "nonsense loaders" -- the phrases that go across the bottom of the screen. "Chlorinating Car Pool" :P And the 3-D stuff looks interesting -- I have to fiddle with my graphics options so the stuff looks its best. I did the tutorials, and I'm looking forward to fiddling with a few houses later. Also creating Sims.
-D: I suppose I'm the first on that list.-
Well, actually, I tested out "Create A Sim" last night, after going to the premade hoods and seeing their stories and their families. (I feel right at home in StrangeTown -- especially since there's a lot "88 Road to Nowhere!") My very first sim was supposed to be of me (I even called her by my preferred alter-ego name, J. C. Jones), but then I got distracted.
-J: Distracted? You mean by just playing around with the options?-
Sort of. I was looking at the beginning hair/face styles -- and one of them had this gorgeous hunk of red hair. The instant I saw her in that, I knew who she had to be.
Gypsy.
She looked pretty good for my first ever Sim2. I found some clothes I thought she looked good in, fiddled around with a star sign, all that. She didn't make it to a final cut, though -- last night's sims were test sims.
-VD: Too bad.-
I'll probably remake her today, along with Josephine and Mysteria.
I also took a shot at a Doc Sim last night. Couldn't find quite what I was looking for (although one of the elder shirts fit Doc PERFECTLY). I made a semi-elder Doc with a long hairstyle, and a guy I thought might be like Doc as a teen, with a scattered blond hairstyle. Noses are my big problem.
-M: Oh boy, I wonder what I'll look like.-
*holds up BTTF storybook* I've got comparison pics here so I can make better versions of you guys, and start on Jennifer and Clara. *ponders* Actually, I think I'll switch this for my "offical trilogy" book -- that has actual pics of Clara, along with better quality pics in general.
-D: Good idea. I'm surprised you're making Clara.-
You're not getting off easy, I'm making myself and the Doc's Girls too (although I really don't know much about how Gina looks like. Hmm). I'll probably create a custom neighborhood for you guys.
-VD2: I suppose the other Sims are on a Vacation?-
You could say that. I won't forget them -- they have their perks as well. Not the least being they never age (except for kids with Age of Instant).

Welcome to Our World....
Date: 2004-09-25 03:23 am (UTC)Seriously though, it's great news that you've got it up and running and didn't even have to buy a new graphics card or anything.
I've been mucking around with BTTF Sims too, except since I'm a sucker for life stories, I've made George and Lorraine, then deaged them to tots- which is kind of creepy. But it's going OK, although I really want to do the Family Tree thing, but it's bit hard figuring it all out.
This game is seriously fun! :O)
