SLUUUUUUUSH
Nov. 16th, 2018 11:40 pmOnly it was SNOOOOW this morning, as the weather didn't turn toward rain until around the time I left for work. We actually got six inches, and most of the schools up here had a delay. Fortunately the roads were pretty good and I got into and out of work without a lot of hassle. Snow is mostly gone now, dissolved away by rain and later sunshine. I am very glad RI did not apparently get slammed like some of the lower New England states -- I feel for all the people in New Jersey and New York who got trapped either at their work or school or in their cars. *wince* And that was from a comparatively minor storm. I hate to think what might happen if we get something worse. . .
Anyway, ended up having a quiet day at work (mostly just maintenance stuff -- me catching up on a bunch of merges and the like). I like that for a Friday. Left me plenty of mental energy to deal with starting Chapter 10 of "Fixing You" tonight. Basically setting up the whole "Alice realizes Victor desperately needs some help with whatever mental demons he's struggling with" business before temporarily pushing that to the side for fun adventures in Wonderland. The payoff comes in Chapter 11. :p Chapter draft is about 24 pages, and I don't see that changing anytime soon -- on the other hand, that means it fits super-well with the main "visiting the Land of the Dead" chapter, so yay, inadvertent balance. :p
After writing, it was time for two very different videos on YouTube -- a largely inoffensive short about the inner workings of an airport with "Fun With Shorts" (Airplane! gags were made), and a HOLY HELL WHAT IS GOING ON set of Call of Cthulhu from Helloween. Pierce's sanity is -- not doing well, let's say? And neither is Helloween's -- there was some VERY EFFECTIVE spookiness in this set. Creepy puzzle hallucinations, things lurking in the dark, basements straight out of Silent Hill, scenery that changed the moment you looked away. . .this game has its flaws, but when it works, WHOOO boy. I am on an emotional rollercoaster between this and Vampyr. Good stuff.
And then it was time to catch up with websites, and do my queues. Got ValiceMultiverse sorted, but I still need to do VictorLuvsAlice. Plus empty out my inbox, answer a few messages, probably do some writing stuff with a friend. . .and I've got a time limit as I DO have a dentist appointment tomorrow -- around midday, but I still don't want to oversleep. So yeah, better get on all of that. Why does everything take longer than I think it will. . . *shakes head* Night all!
