Oh, right, because the phone wouldn't stop ringing at work. The usual "something went out and people are complaining about gifts crossing with letters" thing. And my coworker's phone stopped working right midway through the day, and I'm trying to juggle calling people back (because of COURSE she's passing all these messages on to me) AND getting pledges on because they really really NEED to go on and uuuugh. *deep sigh* What good is a snow day if it doesn't get you out of work ENTIRELY? Look, I appreciated the time this morning, don't get me wrong, but damn. And we're actually supposed to get MORE snow over the weekend (Saturday morning and Sunday night) -- so, yeah, guess I'm doing my taxes this weekend. Maybe next weekend will be better. . .
It WAS a nice morning, though. I got up a little later, I had some banana bread for breakfast, I listened to some music, and I even watched an episode of "Fact Hunt" -- 5 games that were nearly licensed products -- that is, tie-ins with something else. Apparently DOOM could have been an Aliens game at some point! And some other company nearly made a Godfather game that was set in the future with space mafia! Yes, that weird idea is what lost them the license. XD Wish I could do that every morning, but life forbids, sadly. *sigh*
At least I still have my evenings -- though tonight was taken up in large part by the next chapter of "Fixing You" going up! Chapter 15 on FF.net, and Chapter 15 on AO3. Victor and Alice vs the Colossal Nell! I hope you all find it an interesting fight. I especially enjoyed writing the "Hysteria Mode Victor" scenario at the end. :D Back to work on Chapter 16 tomorrow -- time to guide these two to their final destination. . . (That sounds so ominous -- I promise nobody dies in this story.)
After that, I found time for The Sim Supply's latest episode of his StrangerVille LP with Romeo -- they wrapped things up by getting the stuff necessary to get into the deepest part of the lab, where they encountered the MOTHER PLANT. It's a pretty awesome-looking alien creature, and apparently available in buy-debug! So that's fun to know. :P There's still some stuff to do to save StrangerVille after this point, but that's for James's ACTUAL LP coming up. :) I'm quite looking forward to it -- especially since it stars Holly Alto, whom I assume is the Bigwallet-related one. You know, the girl who ended up being used by both Lady II AND Thorne in their campaign against each other? Getting impregnated by the latter and KILLED (temporarily) by the former? Yeah, I'd move away to the desert myself after all that. XD
I also watched an OXBox video on cheat codes in games -- the famous Konami Code got a mention, of course, along with God Mode, the "explode Lara Croft" cheat (yes, this was apparently a thing), the "enemy rockets" cheat in Goldeneye 007 (when you want to make the game HARDER for yourself), and, naturally, the Sims' money cheats as a whole (featuring the Sim OXBox family, which SimJane is only too happy to trap in a box for "experiments"). Fun stuff, and it's nice to see Jane again (she hasn't been a major part of the list videos lately -- I missed her).
After that, it was catching up on comics and getting my queues sorted -- both VictorLuvsAlice and Valice Multiverse are good, yay. And now it's time for me to empty out the inbox and go to bed. Normal day tomorrow -- but at least it's Friday. Even a weekend doing taxes is still a weekend. And it shouldn't take THAT long -- I'll have all of Sunday to myself if I do this right. *yawn* Night all!

Date: 2019-03-02 02:30 am (UTC)This is the second time you've done this, by the way. The first was the word "terrific" coming from "terror" in The Tale.
I've been getting pulled different directions since getting back, so I get what you're saying. I'm trying to do one thing and then I get an email with another problem and then another and another and everyone wants a piece of me and let me finish one thing dammit! I haven't even started going though the emails I got while away. Last count was 780, though some might not be for me since I'm in certain email groups so I get them even if they don't pertain to me.
I just tell my coworkers that I'm trying to finish [thing] first, then I'll look at their problem. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. :/

Date: 2019-03-02 04:41 am (UTC)Is that so? Neat. And I'm pretty sure I first made the connection between "terrific" and "terror" thanks to Lords and Ladies by Terry Pratchett, when he was describing elves (creepy bastards).
Ooooooh, that is a pain I know well. It's like, there is only ONE of me, can we just -- let me get ON with things? E-mail usually isn't a problem, honestly (780? Eeeep -- even with accounting for stuff you can just dump), but keeping up with EVERYTHING ELSE. . .
I unfortunately don't have that luxury, as most of the people asking me for stuff outrank me. *sigh* I just do what I can each day, honestly.
