Another Busy Monday
Feb. 10th, 2020 11:09 pmLots more phone calls -- I took three more or less right in a row just as the day started, and we all racked up a lot of messages to try and take care of as the day went on. People looking for stuff, or questioning stuff they'd received, or just generally confused about something. We did our best to handle them all, and to get back in the mail some returns. I suppose it was a pretty productive day, and not TOO stressful, so. . .I'd rank it a B.
Speaking of ranking things, that was kind of the theme of YouTube tonight -- specifically, ranking Sims things:
-->James Turner did a video on ranking (some of) his Sims LPs (with a focus on the ones he's done in Sims 4) -- he really likes his "Rags To Riches EXTREME," and the "Seasons" entry in the Bigwallet canon (which, yeah, clearly he was having loads of fun with that one). He only put one thing in F tier (a "Bigwallet Bakery" LP that was done via livestreams that he just doesn't think is that entertaining), but a fair amount of stuff ended up in C and D (notably, he didn't consider the stuff involving vampires or spellcasters to be much good -- not horrible, but not his best work. Kind of a shame -- while maybe "Rags To Witches" wasn't too great, I quite liked the "off the rails" nature of the Vampires LP XD).
-->Plumbella did a video ranking a selection of "iconic" Sims townies throughout the franchise. She considers Agnes Crumplebottom, Bell and Mortimer Goth, Bonehilda, the burglar, and the Grim Reaper all the best, and Angela Pleasant and Eliza Pancakes the worst. None of these are surprises if you've seen her videos. :p
Additionally, I also watched Plumbella play some of the Urbz: Sims In The City and get completely confused as to how anything worked, and also get wrapped up in the "ferret wrassling" industry, which is apparently a reference to mink farming, so -- there's that! Always interesting to see what the games (particularly the spin-offs) could get away with in the early 2000s! (Fun fact: Both Urbz and Sims 2 came out in 2004, the same year as Vampire: the Masquerade -- Bloodlines. I am occasionally tempted to work in a mention of at least the latter game into "Londerland Bloodlines" as a result.)
Other accomplishments of the night:
-->Getting my credit card bill paid off and getting in a workout, aka some Proper Adulting
-->Writing some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- we're most of the way through the initial Knox conversation, with a few tweaks as Alice already knows what ghouls are and thus was able to guess that he is one. He's going to point her toward Vandal, so we can meet that creepmeister, then it's off to get some painkillers to Mercurio and figure out what we have to do to advance the actual plot. :P Slowly but surely!
-->Helped my parents start on the new puzzle (for longer than I intended, but that's typical with this activity) -- it's a 2,000 piece ocean scene, so it's HUGE. We had to move it to a new table, and it still only just barely fits. I suspect this one is going to take a LOT longer than the previous one. XD
-->Got my Wednesday Newcrest Adventures post prepped -- all pictures with captions and in the right order! I'll get the rest of the text sorted tomorrow. Hopefully it won't take TOO long -- it is a five-and-a-half part update, though. . .
And I answered a couple of messages from other sites earlier, so now it's time to clean out the couple remaining comments in the inbox and head to bed. Three more days of work to get through, after all. Really gotta finish up that ship meme tomorrow too. . . Night all!
