crossover_chick: Victor on the ground with one hand up with the text "Nooo! Anything but the fangirls!" (CB: save Victor from the fangirls!)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Not only did I have a fairly fitful night's sleep (with weird dreams where I kept thinking I had to go up into our largely-nonexistent attic for some reason), I woke up this morning and promptly had a case of diarrhea. And that's one of the things that will fail you on the little self-test we have to take before coming into the building, soooo. . . I mean, I ranted yesterday about people and masks, so I'm not going to be a hypocrite when it comes to the test. Called my boss and texted my coworkers to explain, and took the (half-)day off sick. Fortunately, I'm feeling better now -- I think this is like my last sick day, where I had that sour stomach along with the more minor case of "the shits," and I just overstuffed myself on something that proceeded to somewhat disagree with me. (Last time it was an oversized burger wrap with fries; this time, I think it was Mom's pizza -- delicious, but maybe the slices were a bit too large?) Best to stay at home, of course, but I got in a workout a little after 5:30 on the bike without throwing up or ending up totally out of breath, so. . .good sign!

Of course, this being a surprise day off, I had a lot more time than expected to do stuff. I managed to fill the hours, though:

-->Watched a HECK of a lot of YouTube throughout the day -- longest list yet beneath the cut! (Though I should qualify that all of ProZD's stuff was only a minute and a half long at MOST. . .)

A) Had a few ProZD videos to start the day:

1. Tough guy with a knife saying "two can play at that game" is actually a YouTuber telling you how many people can play certain board games

2. A dude has a REALLY good turn in what I guess is a dairy-themed card game, making a super-complex set-up involving cows, bulls, bringing milk to the store, giving his driver a good work ethic, spending "dairy dollars" to buy a cheese factory which he makes do somersaults. . .basically he has decided to destroy his (completely uninterested) competition XD (And, perhaps unsurprisingly, turns out that particular skit was sponsored by Magic: The Gathering Arena, MtG's online card battler.)

3. On the flip side of the above (and sponsored by a different online card battler, Shadowverse), he shows what it's like to be on the other side of that ridiculousness, with a guy with one HP and no cards getting increasingly annoyed by his friend pulling off a weird mega-combo involving angering then cooling down cows. (Said combo MAY have been merely an excuse to punch his friend in the groin by playing the right card and claiming that's part of the rules.)

4. And then, continuing in the theme of the above (and again sponsored by Magic: The Gathering Arena), we have a video about how different people build their decks in this dairy-themed card game (dude one has set up a system where, if he's lucky, he can make a terrible infinite loop of duplicating the same powerful card to destroy his opponent; dude two just enjoys making all his creatures wear giant novelty sunglasses courtesy of "Cool Cow"). XD

5. And then one more 12-second clip in the afternoon about cutscenes that keep your character's ridiculous look when playing, which – my poor Fallout 4 Victor probably applies there. . .

B) A quick look at a Futurama clip about Fry and his 100 cups of coffee (leading to him getting super speed at JUST the right moment to save all his friends and a bunch of other people from a massive fire at a party) – don't watch the show, but I was curious, and it was amusing~

C) A video I've seen in my recommendeds a few times – ranking Disney twist villains from worst to best! It was a fun ride – the creator, CellSpex, detailed why she thought each of these villains worked and/or didn't work (her major complaint seems to be twist villains whose personalities change drastically after the reveal without any real reason for them doing so – a good example would be Hans from Frozen, who she feels goes a little too traditional hammy villain after the infamous almost-kiss scene, contrasting Charles Muntz from Up, who is clearly a man who's been alone too long and is responding to a psychological trigger when he sees/hears the bird, explaining the shift from affable to dangerous). And it's no great surprise her favorites are two of the earliest examples from Pixar – Stinky Pete from Toy Story 2 and Waternoose from Monsters, Inc.

D) More Fun With Shorts – this one "Hailstones & Halibut Bones," which is in fact purple prose about colors (the name comes from the early verses about white, which – okay?). Josh was unimpressed, especially since the version he found is so faded that red is basically the only color still properly showing. XD

E) More building from James Turner – this time he sets out to make a starter home that does still look kind of lived in! He – sort of succeeds. I mean, there's a cute hanging plant, and some magazines on the coffee table? XD It's a nice little house regardless, though – a good starter for someone who wants a decent place for their Sim family to live, instead of just a box.

F) Over to OXBox again, for seven super-weird fighting games – the sequel! Previously, we had a Les Miserables beat-em-up and a construction equipment brawl; now we have stuff like a god beat-em-up (as in ACTUAL GODS PEOPLE WORSHIP – along with a few dark horses; you can LITERALLY MAKE JESUS FIGHT SANTA); a CRAB FIGHTER (and it's PHYSICS-BASED, so that'll be fun); and a WWE game that involves the wrestlers all driving tricked-out cars in a demolition derby of sorts (yes, really). Oh, and a Jurassic Park fighting game where you can make all the dinos fight each other. Everything and anything can be a fighting game, it seems!

G) Time for more Call Me Kevin and his Sims 4 knitting factory! XD And in a delightful and wonderful addition to the family, default from Tomodachi Life has jumped the game barrier just like Turg and joined the world! She's – promptly been locked in the knitting basement, of course, but thanks to a custom "neutral" trait, she is basically permanently "Fine." And this included when Turg, poor bastard, tried to woo her. He gave her a rose, stared at her while she knitted, took her on a date to a fancy restaurant (which, uh, only serves water and cake because it's one of Jim's old places), and even accidentally aged himself up for her! And yet, her heart remains cold, neutral stone. . .she ate the cake, though. :p Also, Jim's triplets have aged up, and one of them has managed to turn invisible. O.o Lost to the void, much like poor Carol Alto. . .not that Jim gives a crap, of course, but still.

H) And then it was GrayStillPlays time, with:

1. More Henry Stickman Collection: Completing the Mission! Gray had to see all the other possible endings with dear old Ellie, and they included such amazing moments as the pair attaching wings to a rope to fly themselves out of danger; Henry using a "corruptick" to LITERALLY CORRUPT the game in an attempt to stop Ellie getting captured; and Henry and Ellie staging an awesome dance party to make their way through a crowd of enemies. Gray was especially tickled by that last one. XD

2. More Happy Wheels! With "Tom Hardy" and family braving the usual onslaught of terrible harpoon runs (this time with heat-seeking mines! Gray had to try SO MANY TIMES to finish that one), and Spearman, Demon Santa, and Mega Karen stopping them from getting ice cream sandwiches. Also there was a tank rampage. Have I mentioned this is probably the game most meant for Gray on the planet yet?

-->Played some Fallout 4 -- threw in "Settlers of the Commonwealth" today, and went back to one of my "traveling with Piper" saves to pick up a few of the settlers it adds. Simpler mod than I expected -- I thought the new people had a bit more dialogue -- but it's still nice to have some new recruitables to put in my settlements. :) Spent quite a bit of my time upgrading a couple of the settlements I sent them to in order to fit enough beds and such for everyone. Have discovered it is VERY HARD to try and fix up any of the destroyed buildings in a settlement and turn it into a liveable space. >.< I mean, seriously, the walls are either floating, or they won't go flush against the destroyed wall (except when they do), or they won't line up correctly. . .ugh. I gave up in Tenpines Bluff, just moved the mattress Kim (one of the new settlers) would sleep on to the main cabin, then set up the destroyed area with some of the instruments from THAT new mod and a few chairs, so it can be a performance area. *shrugs* Gotta keep the settlers happy! So that's another mod off the list. . . I actually picked up one new smaller one too, "More Grind-Free Game Settings" -- it's technically the second mod of a pair, but they can be used separately. The first one includes some stuff I don't want (namely, I like the lockpicking and hacking minigames), but this second one has stuff like stopping companions going after Radstags (stop shooting the animals) and having quest markers appear from farther away -- stuff I actually find USEFUL. So I'll pop that in next, then move back to my earliest saves for stuff like "Tales of the Commonwealth" (and all its patches) and "We Are The Minutemen."

-->ALSO played Sims 4 -- yup, this is what happens when I'm awake in the morning! I have enough time to binge YouTube AND play both my current games! XD I finished off a few tweaks to the new McTest/Notamoron household, then actually played the family -- Chell, Wheatley, and Geeker had a very nice New Year's Eve at the new place. Knox Greenman from the new EP stopped by (Wheatley instantly made friends with him, as he does now), Geeker maxed video gaming skill and Wheatley maxed charisma (ALSO finally completing his "Friend of the World" aspiration, yaaay), and Geeker had his boyfriend Dario over to have a snowball fight with Chell and Wheatley, then watch the New Year's countdown. :) Good times, good times. . .

-->Wrote some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- Alice managed to get into Carson's files and find out where McGee was hiding, and she and Mercurio visited Devil's Brand Tattoo Parlor. No one there, but they did find a bunch of pictures of hands and feet, and an ad to model for some guy named Gimble. . .Alice has made the call, and soon enough she'll be taking on the asshole in his creepy murder basement. :D

-->And after all that, I'm currently doing my queue for Valice Multiverse, and gonna answer my DW comment in a bit.

So yeah, busy day! But a nice one. I wish I could have stayed home for a reason other than "mild stomach issues," but I'll take it. And now I've got the weekend proper looming! Dunno if I'll manage another double game Saturday, but I think I can at play least one of them (thinking Sims 4), along with catching up on my Atop the Fourth Wall episode (currently the only thing in my Watch Later, yay). Oh, yes, and I have to get up Chapter 11 of "Secundus 2" as well. Feels weird knowing there's only two chapters after this one. . .but then again, it's always a little weird when I finish a big story I've been working on for a while. And managing to complete "Secundus 2" will feel like a win against this whole stupid year and how it's been going.

In the meantime, though, RP stuff. Night all!
