I attribute that mostly to a) it being President's Day, thus no mail and most of the companies we work with having a day off and b) my chatty coworker still not being in thanks to her long weekend. It was quiet, and I spent most of my time doing roster maintenance and fixing up a few gifts. Nothing too strenuous -- not a bad start to the week. Don't expect it to LAST, but as long as I can make it to Friday. . .

At any rate, got through the day, then came home and covered my to-do list:

1. Keep up on YouTube Subscriptions: Check – pretty easy check too, considering I only had two in the actual Subs thanks to keeping up on everybody yesterday. :) Even got some bonus vids –

A) Got Call Me Kevin with PokerStars VR! This was a video sponsored by the game itself, with Kevin showing off how effectively he can annoy people in a virtual casino environment. XD We had a few hands of blackjack, and two different lobbies of poker – Kevin was a very, er “effective” bluffer. XD Dude was clearly having a lot of fun confusing everyone around him. Aaaand the creators of the game included a special item that you can get with a specific code in-game – a talking Jim Pickens plush! Seriously, it’s got a virtual pull string, and pre-recorded quotes from Kevin! XD Kevin kept giving it to people to play with, and they kept trying to shoot it. XD Which, to be fair, is reasonable when you’re faced with Jim, honestly. . .

B) Then over to GrayStillPlays for a return to Fun With Ragdolls: The Game! Haven’t seen impossible challenges in this one for a while. . . We had three boards today – the laser waffle with evil minions and spiky parkour; the laser rave with extra spiky parkour and more ways to die than you could shake a stick at; and the walk of masochism, which involved no lasers but a fuck-ton of hammers, fans, spinny things, and a conveyor belt in front of the end flag going the wrong way. Gray, as usual, powered his way through all three with a combination of painful determination and a desire to experience as much agony in fifteen YouTube minutes as possible. XD It got to the point where he was genuinely surprised to get one checkpoint in the middle of the second one without dying (it was a long jump to a small block, and he fully expected to get it via ragdoll, not by landing it). Gray’s current video output in a nutshell, frankly. XD

C) Bonus video I found the other day from the Watch Later – Looper talking about some stuff that only adults would notice in Corpse Bride! Things like the Gone With The Wind reference from Alfred; Maggot being a Peter Lorre impersonation; the piano having a “Harryhausen” name plate to reference Ray Harryhausen, the name to know in stop-motion. . . Most of the trivia I already knew, but I did pick up some new tidbits – like Barkis accidentally poisoning himself bringing the final act of Hamlet to mind (Hamlet’s mother accidentally offs herself drinking poisoned wine meant for the title character), or Elder Gutknecht reaching for his swinging lamp referencing a shot from classic vampire movie Nosferatu. Good times!

D) . . .and ah hell, let’s follow it up with a video from the same people about the Disney Princesses, because now I’m intrigued. Some fun trivia in this one, both stuff I knew (the whole “Pocahontas takes so many liberties with the story it should be a crime” business) and stuff I didn’t (apparently when the official Princess line first started, not only were the various princesses color-coded, they also weren’t allowed to make eye contact in group shots! As pointed out, though, this mandate probably has fallen by the wayside in the wake of their iconic crossover scene in Wreck-It Ralph 2). Good bit of fun for twelve minutes!

2. Work some more on “In A World Of His Own”: Check! We’ve gotten through Alice squeeing over Victor’s inner child, Mr. Explorer, and up to the part where he introduces them to the giant blue butterflies mud-puddling by the river! And, of course, he’s made especial friends with one that he’s named Ferdinand. XD Look, it had to be done – this is the part of Forgotten Vows’ Victor’s mind that he’d most likely share with his Secundus counterpart, after all!

3. Get in a workout: Check! Another round on the bike, another round with Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! Caught back up with Grills as he finished killing off the family of Gulpers he’d come across, learning in the process that a) crippling the legs is a good idea for this enemy, as they are SEVERELY hampered by it, and b) using his Lucky Lorenzo physics gun on Legendaries is good fun but does send them flying, forcing him to wander deeper into the wilderness to find them (and then not even get a good drop – a Lucky bit of armor, which Jon finds of limited use as compared to Lucky weapons). Entertaining and educational!

As for the rest of the bit I watched today – well, it was mostly more of Grills hiking through the wilderness, getting gradually more irradiated and sick as he tried to find his way to his objective and killing a fuckton more ghouls (which are pretty tough these days thanks to his high level – he made 64 today!). Notable highlights included:

I. Grills accidentally stumbling across a location you’re apparently not supposed to find until the end of a certain quest (“Whispers in the Dark” – which, er, checking the list of Far Harbor quests, does not appear to actually be a thing. Maybe he meant “Visions in the Fog?” Or maybe I misheard. . .). He went in and poked around, but was unable to actually do much of anything since, you know, he hasn’t done the related quest yet. XD And he got irradiated a bunch too, forcing him to pop a Rad-X and take the hit to his immune system.

II. Grills discovering a cool windmill base, Zephyr Ridge Camp! :D Apparently the place was supposed to be swarming with Trappers, but they’d apparently all fucked off when Grills arrived. Grills blew out one of their spotlights, took a nap in one of their beds to clear out some tiredness, looted their stuff, and then continued on his way. If I can ever get my version of the game working again, I want to do a windmill build – we have windmill generators!

III. Right after leaving Zephyr Ridge, Grills came across a ghoul chem dealer having a nap at a nearby camp. They bartered, but the guy had no medical knowledge or antibiotics, so Grills was forced to put up with his insomnia for a bit more.

IV. Grills, upon checking his map, noticed a curious little island off the coast and decided to swim out there and check it out, as Jon was in an exploratory mood.

And then Jon noticed some Gulpers on the island and decided “okay I’m heading over to this little island instead, thank you very much!” XD His intention was to get Grills to snipe off some of the Gulpers, but the mist made that impossible – instead, he ended up battling ghouls and one other Gulper stuck in a window at a wrecked house at his new destination. Poor guy got jumpscared by one Charred bastard, though not to the extent of swearing like he did with that one Radstag early on.

V. Grills went over to Rayburn Point on the new island to kill the trappers there before trying to complete the Captain’s Dance. This proved to be fairly difficult, as he was running low on ammo and had to dodge the occasional grenade – and when he dropped a save in one of their beds, he picked up Parasites, lovely. *makes face* On the OTHER hand. . .when he finally killed the local Legendary?

He picked up a really nice Martyr’s Polymer Combat Armor Left Arm to replace his current Martyr’s Metal Left Arm. :D Jon was THRILLED by this and declared the whole mess worth it just for that. It’s nice to see him excited by a good Legendary for a change.

Anyway, after all that, he took some antibiotics to take care of his illnesses (he only had two, so he had to use them sparingly), ate and drank, then headed over to the quest marker to throw in some chicken thighs and start the Captain’s Dance! I actually left off here, when the first Mirelurk reared its ugly head – we’ll see how long it takes Grills to complete this and earn his “Captain’s Feast” perk!

(I really need to reverse the order of these -- I do the workout FIRST, and the videos LAST on weekdays. . .) So yeah, not a bad day at all -- just finishing up reading my tumblr dashboard, then it'll be time to answer my comment and hit the sheets. Three more days to get through, with one potentially being snowy. We'll see what happens! Night all!
