A Reasonably Chill Saturday
Mar. 13th, 2021 11:02 pmIn, uh, multiple senses -- yeah, temperature hath dropped from yesterday, and it being windy did not help. . .and it's supposed to be even worse tomorrow. Meeeh. . .well, it's mid-March. We were lucky to get two days where it wasn't horrible.
But even with the weather outside not being great, I had a pretty good day. Allow me to present the evidence of my to-do list --
1. Clean my room: Check! Managed to make a good start shortly after eleven, finished up by two-twenty in the afternoon! :) Good to have that taken care of for another couple of weeks!
2. Watch the two Plumbella videos in my Watch Later, plus keep up on YouTube Subs: Check! All four videos were watched, along with a few bonuses I was able to sneak in –
A) Okay, not sure how I was supposed to resist these off-the-list recommendations (especially when they were so short but sweet)–
I. A baby otter (so floof!) accidentally rolling itself off a dock while calling for its mother. Fortunately mom was there to pick it up and cuddle it!
II. A baby panda (also so floof!) hanging onto the food slot of the door of its enclosure and enjoying a swing before the keeper spots it and starts holding the door closed with her foot (prompting panda to instead latch onto her leg) XD So adorable!
B) Then it was onto the Plumbella videos, uploaded this week with matching themes –
I. Objects in the Sims 4 that she hates – complaints included “this gate, these curtains, and this counter do not have the color swatches I want,” “we have TOO MANY BARS – we don’t even have enough different bar stools for them all! And the last thing we need is another KID’S DRAWING TABLE” “this living chair/loveseat/couch set just looks uncomfortable,” “I love an arcade so the arcade machine itself is okay, but where are the smaller versions? Too big, hen, it’s TOO BIG – and same with the telescope that I’m calling a microscope (but the microscope actually has the same problem so I don’t think the audience will hold it against me),” “the existence of the small rodent habitat reminds us My First Pet Stuff exists,” “the existence of this hot tub reminds us the 20th anniversary debacle exists,” “this counter’s handles make it look like a toolbox,” “I personally hate that you have to hire vendors for the food stalls when you place them on community lots.” All reasonable, in my opinion! Especially the arcade ones – in the Before Times, I was a Dave & Buster’s girl, so it annoys me you can’t really do that in The Sims 4 as it currently stands. Hmph.
II. Objects in the Sims 4 that she loves – compliments included “I know this isn’t going to be a popular opinion but Spooky Stuff is my aesthetic so live with it,” “I really like this one tree that’s kind of a clump of birches, it just looks good,” “this awning has character and lots of nice details and colors,” “I just like this kind of copper bath,” “this talky-bubble mirror and cocktail neon light from Moschino Stuff tickle my fancy,” “I have a fondness for canopy beds because of Harry Potter,” “all these wall decorations look good and have nice colors, though this particular big painting is PARTICULARLY awesome and goes so well with any room,” “This bookcase is nice and has slots for stuff,” “if Kits brought any good things to us it’s the Country Kitchen stove,” “these shelves are versatile and have some nice personality,” “Paranormal Stuff brought us a lovely NORMAL-SIZED coffee table and a lovely couch.” XD To be fair, I liked most of the stuff she showed off too – I prefer bookcases that have more books in them, but the shelves were good, and everyone seems to like the Paranormal furniture. And she sold me on the big painting – have to find more uses for it in my own game!
C) Then this evening it was time for Call Me Kevin and some more Bitlife! Where, in direct contrast to most of his other play sessions, he tried to create the Perfect Person. Perfect promptly got the world’s weirdest haircut and spent his school years as the biggest tattletale in the district. XD He got through life mainly by sucking up to people – teachers and supervisors alike. To be fair, he did manage to land a successful career as a business analyst, get married, and have a child (First Person) – but his coworkers never liked him, his cat and dog (named Dog and Cat respectively) died not that long after he got them, he ended up getting divorced from his wife after losing a bunch of money at the blackjack tables (though she claimed it was because of nose-picking), and – in true Kevin fashion – he ended up calling hitmen to kill his ex-wife and son after they stopped wanting to spend time with him. (He also tried to off a coworker he had a running feud with, but she vanished from the game after he had to wait a year after the first man he hired ran off with the money.) And then he died in an airplane crash when Kevin tried to brighten up his golden years with flying lessons. Gotta say, the definition of “perfect” seems to have changed a fair bit. . .
D) Then it was onto GrayStillPlays for a bit of Happy Wheels! Breaking with tradition by not starting with a bottle flip with an baffling amount of places to land a bottle, but we still had fun. How about a hyper-fast log run that sends you hurtling into death? A spike fall with a false landing and an invisible floor leading back to the ACTUAL spike fall? An obstacle course with like three different ways to go and who knows how many different ways to die? A pogo laser dodge with free harpoons where you least expect them? A watermelon run with fake watermelons? A bottle run that not only has multiple parts, but a loop-de-loop into fans? Or another obstacle course where Gray somehow SURVIVED entering a box with ten million heat-seeking bombs? XD Because he’s GrayStillPlays, bitch! Though even he’s shocked by some of the stuff he manages to survive. XD
E) Then, just because it was still relatively early in the night, I decided to go look for something else to watch, and remembered – hey, I haven’t caught up on LGR’s Sim stuff for a while! So I went looking at that playlist – just one new video, his review of Snowy Escape. General opinion – he likes the aesthetics, but thinks a good portion of the gameplay stuff (excluding lifestyles) isn’t different or engaging enough, and considers the whole thing more of a game pack masquerading as an expansion. Dude, exactly why I waited to get that one on sale.
3. Play some Sims 4 (thinking Spookfest in Newcrest Adventures): Check! Went back to the McFlys of Newcrest to celebrate Spookfest, aka Sim Halloween. I had Marty host a non-goaled-but-the-game-treats-these-like-Bronze-rated-events-now Spooky party with Candy Behr, Eric, and Emmett coming over, and everyone wore costumes, carved pumpkins, ate spooky cookies, and talked about their love of the holiday. There was even a bit of themeing with the costumes – after Marty autonomously put himself in a Darth Vader outfit, I had Jennifer dress up as Princess Leia and Douglas as Yoda! Marlene, being a child, had to choose the only other “official” child option, which was "sausage." Even Eric came as an astronaut, and Emmett as what I think was the space smuggler! (Candy was a witch, which must have made Marlene feel less left out). It was a fun time, and my Sims all thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. :D And next time I play them – Mt. Komorebi time!
4. Continue the HypnoSnippets Organization Project: Check! Did that after supper – got everything out of the general “AU Snippets” document and properly sorted in the new one! So now all my little hypnosis/mind-control based stuff has its own place to live, yay~ At the very least, this’ll make it easier to find my favorites when I’m in a bad mood and want to indulge my kink!
Yaaay, four for four! Always makes me feel good. :P And we got chocolate pudding pie for dessert because it's actually Pie Day weekend this weekend (3/14 -- Dad got the date wrong last weekend) -- kind of fell apart in the serving, but still tasty. XD
Not too much else to say, really -- currently very quiet on tumblr, so I'm mainly messing around looking at cool Sims 4 mods that I'm probably not going to install because who knows what the next patch will break. *sigh* The trials of being someone who usually only games on weekends. . .and is now a little worried about modding thanks to whatever mess I've gotten myself into with Fallout 4. Although I suppose I should be thankful to that game for driving me to replay A:MR just in time for the game's tenth anniversary. . .
Anyway! Let's set up the to-do list for Sunday, then I'll clear out my final DW comment:
1. Keep up on YouTube Subscriptions and Jon's latest FO4 YOLO episode
2. Play Alice: Madness Returns and see about finishing the Deluded Depths chapter
3. Write something now that I've done all my organizing
4. Get in a workout
Seems reasonable! Remember to set your clocks forward, everyone! Night all!
