crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

Spent most of it on spreadsheets, but we managed to keep the annoying phone calls and whatnot to a minimum, and even if I had a late lunch, it was still a quiet one, so I'll take it. I've had much worse ends to the week!

I also did well on the Standard To-Do List, even though it's been a bit of a distractable night (I fully blame two of the webcomics I read having multiple links back to previous comics and me getting caught up in small archive binges) --

1. Get in a workout: Check! Back on the bike after another game of beanbag toss with the family (we each won a game today! Dad took the first, Mom took the second, and I took the third with a six just when I needed it), and back to Jon’s original look at the Vault-Tec DLC with Bacon! Caught up with her as she got some Martyr’s gear off the Legendary Deathclaw Matriarch she’d just slaughtered – unnecessary since she already had a better piece back home, but gave Jon a chance to talk about how it works (basically, you should only ever have one piece, as the effects don’t stack – because if they’d did, you’d have lots of slow time all the time). Bacon then proceeded to clear out a few more shortcuts between the various caves, seeing how everything linked up and how the building area expanded as she added control boards to workshops. She cleaned out the radscorpions hiding behind another shortcut wall (her chainsaw got a lot of use), then cut up some more mole rats and grenaded a few ghouls as she found the North-Eastern Sector control board. Once that was installed, Jon felt that they’d explored enough for the time being, and sent her to meet up with Barstow and interview the candidates for the vault.

They were a – motley bunch, that’s for sure. Settler the first was primarily interested in food and not at all interested in Barstow’s inquiry into what makes a good government; settler the second made it pretty clear he was considering stealing stuff from the vault (and also that he wouldn’t jump to salvage any malfunctioning reactors), though he backed down when Bacon told him “don’t rip us off” in a threatening tone. And then, of course, there was lovely Clem, who was waaaay too eager to help in any way he could – though he didn’t appreciate Bacon muttering about how he was dumb. Barstow liked him quite a lot, though, seeing the perfect test subject, and had Bacon outfit him with a Vault 88 suit and Pip-Boy – Jon happily raided the chest for all the Pip-Boys, though I think his enthusiasm was a little dampened when he found they were just “miscellaneous” and not “junk” (and thus not scrappable).

Test subject acquired, Barstow told Bacon about the power cycle experiment – apparently Vault-Tec views exercise as a societal ill, because people spend too much time making themselves healthy instead of contributing to the good of the community. Bacon and Jon both argued this was absurd, as healthy citizens need less medical care – Barstow returned that healthy people also live longer and thus are a drain on the vault’s resources longer. Vault-Tec was staffed by such lovely people. . .anyway, that brought us back to the beginning of Episode 1 –

And also to the beginning of Episode 3! Jon took a moment to answer some viewer comments – namely, explaining how vault-based power works (wall-based conduits that just conduct reactor power through the walls themselves as long as they’re all connected by Vault-Tec pieces, demonstrated with a light he’d put up on one of the pre-built walls), and defending the placement of his Vault 89 door (people were telling him that it was backwards, but Jon showed off the ACTUAL Vault 88 door opening and pointed out that, just like in his homemade vault, the door was pulled INSIDE on a little track) – then reported his findings to Barstow. She wasn’t impressed until she saw how eager Buffout addiction made Clem to cycle. With that experiment finished, she tasked Bacon with retrieving some chemical research from Hallucingen – a piece of piss with a) fast travel and b) the place already cleared out – yeah, Bacon went there earlier for that Goodneighbor drug dealer. Next time, we shall see the soda experiment! Wonder what parameters Jon will choose there, since I already know all the “Ted” experiments were done by Grills. . .

2. Work some more on “In A World Of His Own”: Check – after a little banter about a possible move to Sandford, where Victoria and Christopher live, Victor’s penchant for beautiful worlds, and going to see the Insane Children in the Skool, the pair have spotted the Artist on the shore of the lake – and a storm rolling in from the other side. Now it’s time to paddle for cover! If they can row well enough, of course. . .

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check! Three in, three out --

A) Started with Fun With Shorts and a new entry into the Lone Ranger Cartoon Series – “Circus of Death!” About the Ranger and Tonto stopping a circus full of thieves. As usual, it was completely goofy fun (what else can you say about a robbery that involves a fire-breather standing on the stilt-walker’s shoulders while the strongman carries away the safe?), though the actual film quality was shockingly poor. This one clearly hadn’t been stored or cared for properly! Ah well, it was still a good time. :)

B) Then we moved onto Kevin, with more Skyrim – or, rather, Enderal: Forgotten Stories, a total conversion mod for the game! This one puts you in a whole new fantasy realm, in the role of someone with some sort of dark past (a convenient nightmare explaining that your entire family is dead by fire and it might be your fault) and a possibly grim future (you have an “arcane fever,” and while that means you’re apparently turning into a wizard, given the other wizard we learn about apparently turned very murdery when his beloved was killed. . .). The game sort of has three intros – the nightmare sequence, a tutorial on combat and whatnot on a ship, and then the actual beginning when you wash up on the shore of a strange land – but it’s pretty engaging, and Kevin was down to go solve mysteries and dig up graves for loot! All as “Shrek’s Friend,” because he found a race that was half-swamp creature and he naturally went to town. XD It’s good stuff and I wouldn’t mind seeing more of it!

C) And then it was time for GrayStillPlays and more Minecraft fuckery – the lucky blocks grow on trees now! And they are even more “lucky” thanks to Gray continually messing with zeroes. Lucky to the point of catapulting him ten million feet into the air and spawning random giant glass cubes full of ocean. XD Though they also spawn lots of good enchanted gear, tools, and weapons – including THE BUSH, which not only slaughters everything in one hit, but multiples all the drops by sixty-four. Gray had a lot of fun with THAT, let me tell you. As per usual, he destroyed an unfortunate village with his lucky block experiments; planted a YEET farm (this time of trees); got knocked around a lot by his own hubris; and defeated the Ender Dragon in the most ridiculous way possible – spamming TWO HUNDRED lucky blocks before fighting his way to a good spot to snipe the now-totally-glitched-out dragon with his magic bow. :D Also, he has merch now, and I am SORELY tempted by the “We don’t need physics where we’re going” hoodie. XD

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – Valice Multiverse queue is sorted (one ask, a couple of reblogs), and I put a couple more things in my drafts for Victor Luvs Alice, so I’m feeling good.

So yeah, not too shabby. I just have to answer my other DW comment, then head over to the Friday Night Writing thing. Let's go over the Saturday to-do list:

1. Clean my room, as per the fortnight rule

2. Keep up on YouTube Subs and watch that Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins video in the Watch Later

3. Write some more on "Londerland Bloodlines"

4. Play Sims 4 and finish out the McFlys' week in Newcrest Adventures

5. OPTIONAL -- bake my muffins (can be moved to Sunday depending on time/my mood)

Seems legit! Let's do this. Night all!
