Decently Satisfying Saturday

crossover_chickAs my to-do list for the day should prove:
1. Do the second draft of the gift fic for my tumblr friend's birthday on 7/22: Check! Cleaned up the original draft of Catch Us!Victor and Alice discussing afterlives with their friend Kiya, and it should now be ready to be posted on Tuesday, yay! :) Glad to have that one in the can!
2. Keep up on YouTube Subs and watch the latest Atop The Fourth Wall in my Watch Later: Check! Ahh, it feels good to say that. . . Hell, I even got two extra videos watched on top of the ones I wanted to watch –
A) Actually started with something else in my Watch Later – a quick video from onlyabidoang about eight unusual ways to make money in Sims 4! This is a sequel to a video he did a year ago, looking for ways to make money that didn’t involve getting a traditional job. Stuff like exploiting the fact that a single item put into a dumpster (like a water glass) will fill it and allow you to dive for random items! Or that any trash pile your Sim finds (or makes) after Handiness 3 can be scavenged for upgrade parts – and if you have your Sim throw it away but immediately cancel the interaction, you can reset the trash pile! Or going around killing high-level celebrities and getting super-expensive autographs from their ghosts! Or the favorite of one James Turner, befriending dust bunnies and watching them bring you treasures from the temples of Selvadorada. XD Yeah, basically, lotta ways to exploit the hell out of his game when it comes to cash. XD
B) Speaking of James Turner, over in my subs he uploaded another episode of “3 Brothers!” Today’s episode was largely about renovating the house now that there’s another baby to take care of – James opened up the bottom floor, rearranged the kitchen, gave them a PROPER living room space, converted the former dining area into a new bedroom for Chaz, rearranged the other bedrooms a bit, and generally cleaned up most of the old dirt and water stains because, look, the brothers are actually doing okay for themselves these days. In fact:
Isaiah remains largely out of the spotlight, but as the family’s primary breadwinner (as the only one with a steady job), James has decided he needs to get promoted at last and has him playing lots and lots of chess to up his Logic.
Brodie is actually getting along decently with his new alien infant Trenton (maybe aliens are more immune to the hissing?), and successfully completed a gig at the Pancakes house to bring in a little more cash. Still nothing going on with his aspiration, but what can you do?
Candle has successfully completed another term at Britechester with an A+ average! So now his total GPA is up to an A-, and he has one last term to go before he can officially display his Psychology degree. James also had him quit his barista job to focus on writing again. . .and he got that phone call where, if you’re too eager to get an inheritance, you end up needing to get married within a week’s time. Which is fairly hilarious, because that’s EXACTLY why Ambrose ended up marrying Lilith Vatore, and how we ended up with a house of one vampire, one former vampire, and one alien. Fortunately Candle just met a girl called Miko, but I don’t know how receptive she’ll be to his advances. . .
So yeah, things remain a bit chaotic in this house. Wondering when we’re gonna catch up to the “Rags To Redecoration” episodes going out now. . .
C) Then it was onto the latest AT4W – the Patreon-sponsored review of the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition)! An hour and a half of Linkara explaining why he doesn’t like this movie because, in his own words, he’s kind of a windbag. XD Though his anger with it seems understandable – it’s apparently three hours of a weak plot surrounded by unlikable characters, dull colors, bad music, and the frustration of the few good ideas in it being squandered. Not enough action scenes, these versions of Clark and Bruce are annoying and reasonably terrible people, and – ugh. I’m glad I get to spend less time on this write-up than Linkara spend doing his review! Dude, might want to drop the max length of movies to two and a half hours if you want to stop Patrons dragging you through this.
Oh, and the storyline finally returned, with Linkara summoning his wrestling parody character, Bone Button, to fight his current opponent, Heavy Wrex, in a wrestling match. Bone Button won, and Wrex accepted the loss in the Championship itself but challenged Linkara to actually fight him in a construction contest (because he apparently is a genuine construction worker). *shrug* I’m sorry, but my enthusiasm for this storyline has just gone because of all the delays and breaks. I kind of wish Bone Button had lost to Wrex because then we could be free to just MOVE ON. Ah well, I believe Lewis has promised the whole plot ends this year, so yeah. We’ll see it through.
D) Then, this evening, I caught up with my Fun With Shorts from the other day – “Cheese Burglar!” This was a muddy old short featuring a mouse named Herman, trying to get a dog and cat guarding the house he’s trying to steal food from to kill each other. Namely, by connecting the dog’s nose to the gas stove and framing the cat via gas mask. But then they overhear him bragging to himself about how he’ll raid the icebox once they’re both dead, fake their deaths, and try to trap him in the fridge. But then he gets stuck in a bottle of booze, everyone gets drunk as they try to get him out, and the short ends with all of them soused and singing together. ...It was a different time, as Josh’s riffs made clear. XD
E) After that was a new upload from Plumbella, on Dream Home Decorator! She decided to try going through the career again with a brand new Sim, Leland, to see if it’s her or the game that is fucking up her gigs. First gig – well, she misread someone’s dislike of pink as a like while renovating her clients’ bedroom, but Leland did a good enough job that he got paid well anyway. The second gig, where she threw her all into renovating Penny Pizzazz’s apartment in a sweet Boho style? No payment, reputation decreased – and this despite Penny liking it. I’m not sure what happened, but it looks like the reveal event glitched out, as Plumbella was complaining Penny never even went inside. So yeah, maybe Plumbella’s not paying enough attention, but the game is not free from sin either! Reasons why I’m holding off on buying it. . .at least Jesse has a nice tan?
F) From Sims 4 to Sims 2, as Kevin returned to Strangetown and his self-Sim for more shenanigans! Shenanigans including being continually promoted and demoted at work (he gets a good chance card where he wins a mime fight; he gets a bad chance card where he explodes a rocket or discovers he has opposite tastes in movies with a coworker and gets demoted); trying and failing to kill Vidcund Curious (he won’t starve, he won’t get set on fire, he won’t drown – no matter what Kevin does, including making him selectable, forcibly adding him to the family, and trapping him in the bathroom, he just WON’T DIE); trying and failing to make friends with the pizza lady (as he burned all his kitchen appliances trying to kill Vidcund – she walks around in a bride’s veil and spends her time poking Kevin every time she sees him); and, at the very end, getting abducted by aliens (Kevin realizing to his horror his Sim-self is going to return pregnant). This is chaos and I want more. XD
G) And finally, we ended with GrayStillPlays and Brain Puzzles! Another one of those random mobile games where you erase things, draw things, look through things with a magnifying glass – only this one is, somehow, EVEN WEIRDER THAN THE NORM. I mean, you have your average “look through this woman’s clothes on a hunt for her glasses” puzzle to start out with, but then you’re doing stuff like drawing wieners to drop your pocket change back into your piggy bank (okay, maybe that’s just Gray), finding the man in the showers by erasing the doors and discovering aliens and monsters, and SHOOTING NEEDLES INTO A WOMAN’S BACK FOR SOME REASON. Gray was absolutely BAFFLED by the end of his run through the game, and I don’t blame him! The hell?
3. Play Sims 4 and start a new building project: Check – thought watching Linkara would mean I had to scrap this, but a combination of iffy weather making us not play beanbags today (kept threatening to rain) and me skipping my workout (see below) meant I got in roughly an hour before suppertime. My goal was to roughly recreate the facade of a house I’ve seen on a nearby road a few times on trips – it has an interesting shape and a nice turret, so I wanted to give it a go. Took me longer than I wanted to find any PICTURE of it I could use, but I eventually got there and did the exterior. It’s looking okay so far, though I’m still fiddling with the internal layout. Need to figure out where the hell the bathrooms go and all that. But it’s something to work on when I’m not finishing up Newcrest Adventures!
4. Work on tumblr queues: Check – I got starter posts for this week’s Newcrest Adventure update drafted, with pictures and a quick bit of text. That’ll make setting up this week’s queues easier!
5. OPTIONAL: Get in a workout: No check because of what I thought might happen – my parents recaulked and sealed the bathtub in an effort to plug up all the little holes causing the leaks, and the caulk needs time to dry, which it can’t get if we’re using the tub to take showers. So there was no doing anything that makes me super sweaty today, as the best bathing I’m getting is wiping myself down from the sink! We’ll get that covered at a later date.
And I found my dad a nice e-card for Father's Day, so that's off my list as well, so to speak. Yeah, pretty nice, chill Saturday so far. No luck finding a new car as of yet, but. . .well. Maybe once we actually have the money in hand, things will turn around.
As it stands, I do have a DW comment to answer, and a RP tumblr to keep checking, so off I go for the night. Tomorrow's to-do:
1. Work some more on the HypnoKink Notes Document
2. Watch at least one of the OXBox RE8 episodes in my Watch Later, Jon's FO4 YOLO episode, and whatever I can of YouTube Subs
3. Play more Portal Reloaded
4. Continue working on tumblr queues
