And Here Comes The Three-Day Weekend!
Sep. 30th, 2021 11:39 pmMade it through my final day of work, on this sort-of-cloudy, sort-of-chilly day. Autumn has arrived with a vengeance, it must be said. Though this weekend's supposed to be low 70s, so that'll be good. :) Still prefer spring, when the days are getting longer and everything's blooming, but fall's got some good stuff going for it too.
Anyway, let's take a closer look at my day:
Work – Some opening “bullshit with the credit card company” for the morning, but the rest of the afternoon was pretty quiet – more obits, duplicates, that sort of thing. Not too bad a way to end a short week!
Beanbags – Yes – very low 60s today, but not actively trying to rain on us or anything, so we headed out. And after my bad streak of the last few games, I suddenly was on FIRE – I won the first game in three throws with a final twelve! So that was something! :D End scores were W-W-2 for me, 2-2-W for Dad, and poor Mom got 3-3-3 (I swear her long, loose sweater was getting in the way). We’ll see what happens tomorrow!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another day on the bike, and the official start of my watching the Oxventures, with their very first (Mike-less – for whatever reason, he doesn’t join until the second one) adventure! Said adventure is them (human pirate Corazon (Andy), wood elf druid Merilyn (Ellen), warlock tiefling working for Cthulhu Prudence (Jane), and half-orc bard Dob (Luke)) meeting up in the marketplace of a coastal city when one of the local rich men puts up a scroll looking for help in finding his missing son, deciding to work together to solve the mystery, visiting the house, and immediately managing to twig that a rat in the room happens to be said missing son (not that they can convince the father of that, who orders them out). They’re currently investigating another disappearance, where some woman’s husband has probably been turned into a chicken. It’s all good fun so far (everyone is very giggly), and I have FINALLY learned what the hell is the song behind one of the running gags I know about from seeing clips and things – namely, that Dob’s signature song is from the “Venga Boys” and is called the “Vengabus.” It’s supposed to be a lullaby his missing older sister used to sing to him – I knew the joke was that it’s not exactly the perfect tune for a lullaby, but being unfamiliar with the Venga Boys, I had no idea what the song they were referencing was.
IT’S “WE LIKE TO PARTY.” IT’S THE FUCKING SIX FLAGS COMMERCIAL SONG! I had to take a moment when he finally sang a few bars and I was like “OH THAT ONE!” XD And now the damn thing is stuck in my head, as you might imagine. Damn you, Dob! *shakes fist*
2. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again": Check! Despite Radcliffe’s blustering and grumbling about what happened between him and Alice (and to be fair, having an inkwell thrown at you cannot be a pleasant experience), Victor has gotten out of him what happened to Alice’s rabbit – sold to a charity shop! And the name of said shop, so he can check for himself whether or not it’s there. Now I just have to finish up this party scene, and cut to Alice’s actual birthday, so Victor can deliver the goods. :)
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – another two in, two out day –
A) First up was James Turner and another episode of “Every Lot Challenge Challenge!” His self sim is now the proud father of TWINS – turns out putting “On a Ley Line” on as a lot trait worked, even if Jasmin (finally got a good look at her name) was already pregnant! Chi and Donnell, as per the in-game random name generator. He is also now the proud owner of a BUILDABLE rocket ship (turns out the bug that stops you using rockets is buggy itself – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t!), a bigger house (now with wardrobe and a baby “room” off the main bedroom), level 10 Handiness skill (from constantly repairing and upgrading his wind farm), and – very importantly – another promotion! He’s officially a secret agent, and his reward was the removal of the lot trait “Creepy Crawlies!” James was a little sad, as he wanted to turn off “Off The Grid” or “Simple Living,” but I think Semaj and Jasmin will be pleased – Jasmin especially. She was chased by bees a LOT during the final “month” of her pregnancy. XD She’s also constantly sad because the stray cats and dogs that hang out around their lot are aging up and dying there – we’ve already had two dogs get reaped in this episode alone! People in the comments are suggesting “officially adopt one of them to remove those lot traits,” and I’m all for that. James already wants to have more babies to increase the chaos – why not a few pets too? XD Damn, I’m thinking I’m gonna add my own version of this to my eventual “challenge” save – perhaps have my young Doc Sim live there? Hmmm. . .
B) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin and another episode of BitLife! The twist to this episode? Agreeing with everything! Naturally his character was Agree Able, who was born in Indianapolis. And despite being a very agreeable person, his life was honestly depressing – his looks were in the toilet from birth; he made a bunch of friends, and then lost them just as quickly; his very first friend became his lifelong enemy (until he hired a hitman to kill her); he spent most of his life struggling with unemployment, until he FINALLY managed to land a job as a firefighter – and then lost it after taking a plea deal after getting talked into drug trafficking; he suffered from cancer of the rectum most of his life; he kept taking one-night stands and battling gonorrhea as a result; and he eventually moved to Belfast, abandoned his child Undate Able, became a farmer, tried a few drugs, visited a few clubs, forgave his eventual girlfriend her lesbian lover on the side, got briefly into gambling, and finally ended up passing from his cancer, with his friends in the club holding a moment of silence in his honor. Kevin gamely continued on as his son Undate, who was having a decent life until Kevin showed up – then he and his wife started constantly arguing as he was continually cheating on her (plus he got fired from his job); then he tried very unsuccessfully to get into organized crime; then he tried very unsuccessfully to get into politics; THEN he divorced his wife in favor of marrying an elderly lady for HER assets in the hopes that she would die soon; and then HE ended up passing first because, like his father, he kept trying drugs when asked – but unlike his father, he managed to overdose. Kevin tried again with HIS son, Hugh, who it turned out was married to a woman who was constantly cheating on him and having other men’s babies (to the point where the one kid that was biologically his he promptly named MY ONE TRUE SON); had to watch his niece and his adopted son both die at young ages (the latter from drinking window cleaner); dropped some acid with his coworkers because, again, agreeable; and died relatively young from causes I didn’t see. The moral of the story seems to be “set some damn boundaries – agreeing to everything only makes you miserable!”
C) And then just another compilation of What We Do In The Shadows clips, because why not? Poor Guillermo, he puts up with WAY too much from these idiots. . .
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – just a couple of ask replies in Valice Multiverse tonight. Putting up anything for Saturday has to wait until I’ve watched my Wyrd Sisters Podcast tomorrow, as I feel like starting October with the episode on Monstrous Regiment (which does feature a vampire as a main character) is appropriate. :p
Hey, not too bad, right? I was very proud of that "win in three throws" game of beanbags. XD That's how you start a long weekend! And now I just need to decide what I'm doing with tomorrow:
1. Edit some more on "Londerland Bloodlines"
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, listen to the latest Wyrd Sisters Podcast, and watch the latest OXBox list video
3. Play Bloodlines and take on Andrei
4. Get in a workout
5. Work on tumblr queues
*thumbs up* I think that'll be a good use of my time. A very vampirey start to October. :p Night all!
