crossover_chick: Victor leaning over to look at a blue butterfly in a glass jar (CB: i has a happy thing)
Yeah, there was a bit of a rough beginning with the Chatty Coworker bitching about something (I didn't hear exactly what), but it was largely a low-stress day beyond that. Apart from trying to help one lady log into the website and getting nowhere on an almost twenty-minute call. *facepalm* I was able to eventually just make her gift for her, but damn. I would not be cut out for tech support, that's for sure.

Anyway, made it through the day, made it home in one piece through the snow (it's coming in waves, and light enough that it's not really sticking to the roads -- worst part was having to scrape off the car windows and finding some icy bits making things difficult), and settled in for the weekend! Even got through my little to-do list no problem:

1. Get in a workout: Check! Got on the treadmill today for something a bit more intense, meaning I had plenty of time to catch up with Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! After finding an alternate entrance to Acadia, Grills found Faraday and dropped off his storage drives – with Faraday oddly insistent that there should have been three on the boat, not two. . .hmmm. Grills wasn’t there to argue numbers with him, though – just to get paid, pick up two lots of XP for completing the quest and, by extension, completing the “help these other two characters” quest for Acadia (Far Harbor seems to have a number of quests that are, essentially, “complete these other subquests for people”), and take a long nap on one of the available beds. Yeah, I feel you, Grills.

Fully rested for a change (but getting more and more dehydrated), Grills set out after his sleep to return to Far Harbor to see some of the fruits of his labor – namely, the Mariner’s improved defenses (all the spiky bits!), and the little party that had been laid out for him for completing the Captain’s Dance! Teddy called it a feast, but Jon did note that there were only three plates and no actual food. XD He did get himself a nice Captain’s Hat, though (not that he’ll wear it, as it can’t take ballistic weave) and the “Captain’s Feast” – a nice chunk of what I assume to be Queen Mirelurk meat that can be consumed for a 10% boost in XP for two hours. Not too shabby! Grills was already on the move, though, ready to pick up more quests and do more things for people! And he had three waiting for him right away:

1. The Mariner, who asked him to go clear the Trappers off a foundered ship that could be salvaged to make better walls for the barrier into town; Jon also made it a point to have Grills ask her about why she’s so eager to do it quickly, because apparently Bacon never pried into her business. As it stands, the Mariner has a terminal illness, and before she goes, she wants to make sure the Hull is the best it can be. Awwww – Jon was deeply touched and pledged to see her quest line through to the end as soon as possible.

2. Small Bertha, a child with big ideas for Far Harbor, including finding farmland for the people living on the Island. Seems she’d lost a lot of family to the fog and what comes out of it, and she was willing to pay all she has (14 and a half caps) to get Grills to clear out a suitable location, Echo Lake Lumber. Grills told her he’d do it for free, because apart from the Brotherhood thing he’s a nice guy.

3. Mitch, a guy who kinda looks like a greaser, who needed Grills to go check up on his rather crotchety Uncle Ken, who had set up on his own in the Visitor’s Center of the National Campground, and see if he could get him to come home. Grills said he’d head out and try to get Ken to see sense.

With a bunch of new quests under his belt, Grills then swam over to Longfellow's to FINALLY properly hydrate, and to make a few changes to his gear and whatnot (putting on his new fuzzy Assassin’s Pack bracer; dropping off the Crippling Plasma, since it was almost out of ammo, and heading over to Far Harbor to buy some stuff with screws so he could improve his new Poisoner’s Combat Shotgun a bit). Thus newly kitted out and refreshed, he ended the episode by going to the boat the Mariner wanted him to visit and taking out – well, not all of the Trappers. This is one of those quests where you really only have to take out the “boss” of the area – in this case, a guy named Bilge in power armor. Jon actually went back in to kill a few more to get his criticals back up, but ran when they started throwing grenades. XD Anyway, he turned in the quest to the Mariner, and got a pretty intense question about how she should go when it’s her time. O.o People weren’t kidding when they said this DLC hits you hard. . . Jon had Grills tell her to go with her gut and her heart, then headed back to Longfellow’s to end the episode.

Episode 55 started with Grills taking another snooze because it was five PM anyway and Jon wanted to get ahead of his tiredness. XD He headed back to Far Harbor to try and get the Mariner’s third quest, but she was in “generic dialogue” mode – it wasn’t until he was on his way to try one of the others that she suddenly snapped out of it. XD New defenses up (some nice salvaged bits from the ship), she told him her third idea was to defend against the acid of Mirelurk Queens – namely, by using Mirelurk Carpaces as a kind of shield! Ingenious! So now Grills has to collect a few of those on his journeys, which Jon is happy to do.

With that done, he proceeded over to the closest of his quests – the Visitor’s Center and Uncle Ken! Ken was a crotchety sort indeed, though he did appreciate Mitch sending Grills over to make sure he was okay – less so of Grills apparently attracting Trappers to his location. Grills was granted access to the workbench to set up some defenses – Jon went with some heavy machine gun turrets near one entrance, and walls over another to try and set up a chokepoint. Things seemed to be going okay at first. . .and then Uncle Ken ran into one of Grills’s molotovs, got himself killed, and failed the quest. Which, Jon might have tried to run with if that hadn’t also failed the BIGGER “do all these subquests” quest. . .

So yeah, reload (and a quick save in Ken’s bed beforehand) time! This time things went better, with Grills and Ken managing to kill all the Trappers (including one Legendary, who again had shit gear on him). Grills threw on the red dress to convince Ken to return to Mitch, and then plotted a route to his next objective – Echo Lake Lumber! Killing a Fog Crawler along the way, because yeah. At least it wasn’t a Legendary. . .I’ll catch up with him when he starts killing the ghouls infesting that place!

2. Work some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! Got through Nines’s objection to LaCroix trying to execute Alice – she’s gotten a chance to prove herself, yay. Now she just has to get up off the floor and get through the tutorial. XD Once LaCroix finally has her untied, of course, poor girl. . .

3. Keep up on YouTube Subscriptions: Check – time to catch up on Call Me Kevin! We had:

I. Super Seducer 3, which is – which is cringe incarnate. It’s a game supposedly about seducing women, but it’s just – oh my God. Okay, so, I am willing to forgive some things, like the typos, on the basis of I don’t think English is any of these people’s first language. But it’s like – some of the shit that comes out of this guy’s MOUTH! Yes, fine, Kevin was deliberately choosing bad options for the funsies, but not even the GOOD options are comfortable! The guy has one of his potential “conquests” (picked up in a supermarket, and convinced to come home with him after making a joke about The Human Centipede) openly say that she thinks cooking is the woman’s place and that if she had her way he’d be playing on his Playstation! It’s like – gah! Only saving grace was Kevin was wincing just as much as the rest of us at just how bad this game was. You could see in his eyes that he wanted out. And the best part?

The creator apparently offered Kevin a part in the game on Twitter!! Kevin turned him down because, despite his desire to murder Sims, he still has a soul. Just – woooow. “Misogyny Central,” this game should be called. I feel unclean.

II. Fortunately tonight Kevin went back to the classics – Bitlife! Again, deliberately making terrible choices, but at least now it’ll be funny instead of “yikes.” And funny it was, as he played “I Am Wrong” and tried to pick the absolute worst choice in every situation. I Am Wrong spent most of his lives (Kevin ended up redoing him after an early death) depressed and anxious, only cheering up when the people (and animals) around him died. His first go-round in life, he ended up in juvie for a year for assaulting a classmate when he was like six; was rejected to study dance at university, then rejected from every branch of the military before FINALLY somehow snagging a job as a Cat Behavior Consultant; dated a very off-the-mental-rails 70-year-old; lost most of his money in a casino; and spent the rest on three boats which he enjoyed sailing around very much before dying to a clown assaulting him (he was trying to stop said clown from littering). Second time, he got a multitude of STDs from a one-night stand with Default – but also managed to have a baby with her, “THIS IS Wrong;” self-medicated for everything with prayer and smoothies; once again got a gambling addiction; was incarcerated for trying to steal a car; briefly tried crack cocaine; then died peacefully at the age of 62. Kevin took over THIS IS for the final few minutes and had her turn into a jailbird – starting with killing her husband, then repeatedly escaping only to do stuff like try to emigrate illegally to Germany, agree to take mysterious packages to Israel, and calling the police on a different crime. XD She eventually died by electric chair, poor girl. Now this is comedy!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Got my Song Saturday on Victor Luvs Alice sorted (“Willow” by Taylor Swift – I’ve been hearing it on the radio and feel it fits my Forgotten Vows Valice pair very nicely), and queued up a few asks on Valice Multiverse! Yay being ready to go with these!

So yeah, in a pretty good position for starting my long weekend. :) Still gotta answer my DW comment, but I have plenty of time for that for a change. :p Before I go do whatever it is I'm gonna do, let's set up the to-do list for the weekend:

1. Clear out the Plumbella and onlyabidoang videos in my Watch Later, plus keep up on YouTube Subscriptions

2. Write up the gift fic for a tumblr friend's upcoming birthday

3. Update MC Command Center and play Sims 4 (choice of save file)

. . .actually, yeah, that's about it, as I'm taking tomorrow as my "break day" from working out. *shrug* I'm sure that all will keep me busy enough, honestly. Hopefully I can fit in watching Linkara's latest too, but I wanted to leave some wiggle room for James uploading. . .we'll see how it goes tomorrow! Night all!
