crossover_chick: Victor leaning over to look at a blue butterfly in a glass jar (CB: i has a happy thing)
Yes, 16 years ago today Corpse Bride was released! How freaking weird is that. . .I did a bit of celebrating today -- wore my Victor necklace my mom made me a few years back, then my CB shirt to play beanbags; read a few favorite fanfics on my lunch break; and watched a review -- see below, along with how the rest of my day went:

Work – Some more excitement today, in the form of calling people about a reception and doing a fuck-ton of reversals. Most of the rest of the day was spent doing duplicates and deceased, though, and I expect tomorrow will be mostly the same. *shrug* It’s a living.

Beanbags – Well, despite some late-game sprinkles, we actually did get in three rounds – and Mom improved her game to W-3-3! Unfortunately, my game worsened to 3-2-2, while Dad got 2-W-W. *grumbles* Hopefully I do better on Saturday!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – and we had a twofer today! As it is Corpse Bride’s sixteenth anniversary today, I did a slightly longer (and very sweaty) bike ride to fit in both the end of Episode 32 of Jon’s Original FO4 Playthrough AND a review I found of CB by a guy called Steve! So, in order –

I. End of Episode 32 is pretty simple – after killing the now-hostile Danse and being surprised that he was a synth (Past!Jon mentioning he’d have to play through the Brotherhood storyline at some point to figure out what’s going on there – takes him til the third series (I think), but he does it), Miss Jon checked in with Preston about the artillery, then – not having any other quests from the Minutemen for the moment – went back to the Institute, where Father greeted her warmly, thanked her for helping recruit Wallace, and asked her to record a speech to the Commonwealth at large telling them that The Institute is real, doing science, and does not want them interfering in their science. Miss Jon chose the friendlier options (Shaun seemed puzzled by the idea of being polite to the surface dwellers), and the episode ended with Miss Jon preparing a trip to Diamond City to find the radio station and secretly install a few components to allow the Institute to hijack the signal. Given Past!Jon has developed a surprisingly high opinion of the Institute thanks to the “Pinned” quest (for some reason feeling like they treat surface dwellers right if they give them a chance – you, uh, remember that they DO make some replacer synths, right Past!Jon?), I’m honestly expecting the first series to be an Institute ending, of all things. Which I guess DOES make sense, simply because I know from experience that Grills Bears (Survival Playthrough) takes the Brotherhood path, and from hearing about it in other videos that Bacon (No Guns Playthrough) is Railroad. Which – suddenly Finalley (YOLO Playthrough, in progress) apparently going for the Minutemen ending ALSO makes sense, because it might be the only ending Jon hasn’t done in a public playthrough before! Interesting. . . (Granted, I don’t know HOW many FO4 playthroughs he’s done on the channel, but I’m reasonably certain Bacon tackled the DLCs as they came out – she definitely did Vault-Tec, I watched that one – and of course I saw Minnie’s low-level Nuka-World run, which was a specific challenge. So yeah! Finalley might be our Minutemen girl.)

II. “Steve Reviews: Corpse Bride” – I don’t know much about Steve, but apparently he reviews things, and on the 17th he reviewed Corpse Bride, which popped up in my Recommendeds, so yeah. It was a decent review – he summed up the plot pretty well, covered all the main points, said that he liked that Victoria wasn’t made a total bitch so that the choice between Emily or Victoria wasn’t so clear-cut but admitted he rooted for Emily just because she got more screen time, that he liked “Remains of the Day” and “The Wedding Song” but didn’t enjoy “Tears To Shed,” and that he felt that Victor and Victoria could have been more developed but it’s still overall a good movie and the stop-motion is amazing. However, he did make some weird factual errors. One – him thinking Emily and Barkis actually got married – I can just about excuse on the basis of “he might have thought Emily got killed on her wedding day, instead of just before she was to elope with Barkis.” The other. . .

Dude. How the hell do you not know Helena Bonham Carter voices Emily? He said she voiced Victoria, after making a joke about Victoria being voiced by Emma Watson (as opposed to Emily Watson), apparently on the basis of thinking she was the main female lead. Which – look, he makes a “credits roll” joke in the review, you’d think he would have spotted it then. *sigh* On the plus side, I went into the comments section, and he WAS informed he’d made the error and admitted he needed more sleep, so good, I don’t have to be the one to tell him. I instead left a comment letting him know that Helena WAS actually originally going to voice Victoria, and asked to be Emily instead as she felt she’d played plenty of other Victoria-type characters and wanted something different. *shrug* Hopefully someone is entertained by the trivia!

2. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again": Check! Got myself a good starting page on Chapter 5, which is a switch to Victor’s POV as he plays the wallflower at a party his parents have forced him to go to and thinks about how much more he’d enjoy the experience if his new friend was there. He himself is surprised at how little time it’s taken him to consider Alice one of his closest companions, but hey – she seems to get him, so what else can he say? :)

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – EXTREMELY easy today, as the only one who uploaded was Kevin. Though I did get to YouTube late, between a) watching the first episode of Season 12 of Taskmaster (yay :D), and b) needing to get my writing done, so that’s actually for the best. Still managed to get in a couple other videos too –

A) Watched Plumbella’s latest – yes, she’s back, despite anxiety, personal traumas, and a nasty cold – about the new “Season of Selves” for The Sims 4 and the update that put all the new colors on objects. I believe I have at least hinted before that I was actually very annoyed by this update as it contained one (1) bugfix for a game that is starting to rival a Bethesda title for instability, but seeing Plumbella get all excited about the new colors has made me soften a bit. We’re both still annoyed that kits are still a thing, though. *sigh*

B) And then we had Call Me Kevin and Series Makers (or possibly Series Makers Tycoon if you believe the little info box below the video). This is a game all about breaking into the medium of streaming series! Though Kevin seemed to think he was writing movies. . .at any rate, you make up a title, choose theme and audience, do some marketing if you can, and then see what’s a hit and what’s a miss! Kevin tried to rip off more famous franchises at first (a misspelled version of The Simpsons, just straight up Fortnite and Harry Potter), but after getting annoyed with a particular reviewer, Jochen, who couldn’t even spell "disaster" when panning Kevin’s properties, he pivoted to doing series about how much he hated the guy. Which Jochen loved and ended up making him lots of money. Kevin quickly pivoted into doing more videos along those lines and doing just plain old clickbaity titles (like saying something was “staring” Vin Diesel), which – well, did decently enough. Especially when he started researching new themes and actually doing marketing. Hell, one he just entitled “sorry.” was probably his biggest money-maker because he just spammed it at university auditoriums. XD He finally made enough to move out of his parents’ basement into a proper studio, briefly hired a director, then spent some time making some rather meh products while riding the ragged edge of bankruptcy before firing the director and stirring up the pot by making “my last film.” Which fortunately made enough money for him to consider the game won. XD I think you should stick to making music in BitLife, Kevin.

C) And then, just for fun, a best-of What We Do In The Shadows Season 1 compilation, because I’ve kind of gotten into this series by osmosis and these clips are indeed very funny. XD

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Just three ask replies to put on Valice Multiverse, nothing major. :) Arguably took me more time to go through the tags on Victor Luvs Alice.

Not too bad -- though I am running late again, which seems to be a bit of a theme today. So let's wrap this up and head to bed. One more day of work to get through! Night all!
