Not much to report, so let's get straight to the write-up:

Work – Fairly quiet Monday to start the week, I’m happy to say – I did the GL, I took a few credit card calls, I did some roster maintenance, and I fixed a few issues (including some more credit card nonsense that one of the bosses found). We’ll see what happens the rest of the week!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, finishing off the GrayStillPlays compilation “100 ways to become a criminal!” Which involved getting through the rest of Sneak Thief (where Gray’s speedy thief stole the world’s last floppy disk and various radioactive chemicals while hitting all comers with a steel chair and a fish), Jail Story (where Gray’s criminal got an arcade cabinet in his cell, won hundreds at the world’s worst shell game, and ended up killing the entire prison population to get to one guy), and a jail-themed story in Episode (with “Floridia McGatorman” having to find the right way to break out of prison for jaywalking with a hairbrush – as this was Episode, a famously bugfuck bonkers game, this involved digging a tunnel into a hidden tomb of the ancients and then sacrificing a buddy to get away from the guard – after offering her the hairbrush didn’t work). Good stuff – though seeing that last one makes me want an Episode compilation, because that jail story was one of the TAMER entries. That shit got WEIRD, trust me.

2. Continue working on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – got almost two pages done on this today, with Alice fetching Jennifer out of her elevator hidey-hole (having scrubbed up from all her zombie and Bishop Vic murder first, of course); learning that Jumbles had scarpered while she was busy clearing out the last of the plaguebearers (with Wonderland warning her that he would likely return, with a shadow-manipulating vampire friend – Alice was once again jealous of this admittedly-awesome power); delivering Jennifer to the CDC (and graciously enduring a goodbye hug from the scared teen); and heading over to Strauss’s to report on her success while wondering why she keeps running into people with literary last names (because I couldn’t resist making Jennifer a Harker :P What, I originally wrote this bit after reading a bunch of posts from people enjoying “Dracula Daily” on tumblr!). Very productive indeed! Tomorrow, she’ll officially report to Strauss about the dissolution of the plague cult – and, because she’s Alice, snarkily point out that its headquarters was right on Strauss’s doorstep. Because seriously, dude, step outside one of these nights. XD

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – had a double feature over here today –

A) First up, we had the latest from Josh Way – “The Monkey Movie Review!” Josh’s thoughts on the new horror comedy to hit theaters, featuring an evil toy monkey who brings death and destruction whenever he bangs his drum. If you are like me, you probably thought “wait, like the one in that MST3K episode on Merlin’s Shop Of Mystical Wonders?” XD And sort of – apparently, despite the similar premises, they had different inspirations. :P But Josh was very much a fan of this movie, saying that it was genuinely laugh-out-loud funny – GORY, yes, but a serious horror movie this very much ain’t. It just wants you to come on the deadly, deadly ride and have fun. It has the potential to be divisive, sure – apparently one moviegoer at the same screening Josh was at tried to rally everyone to get their money back afterwards – but if you like dark comedies and don’t mind blood and guts, you might want to check it out!

B) And second up, we had the latest from GrayStillPlays – “Every time I crash my wheels get bigger!” A fun little Torture Board in GTA V, this one saw Gray completing challenges such as making a series of jumps with stuff flying through them (such as floating balloons, falling poops from a “Darth Vader On The Toilet” sign, and a windmill with a helicopter flying around the blades); traversing a thinning road of LEGO speedbumps with “!” signs all over them (which had to be completed in 33 seconds); powering across a section of submerged road while avoiding all the various Jetskiers about (which had to be completed in 19 seconds); and surviving a trip into oncoming traffic while dodging various weebmill blades and a vehicle rain. The twist? Gray started out with a little go-kart dealie with the smallest tires in the game, and every time he crashed – well, see the title. XD Specifically, every time he crashed, his current car was deleted, and when he respawned, he got a new custom car with bigger tires to deal with. The tires on offer ranged from hilariously small to ridiculously large (the biggest set was about twice as tall as Gray), and once Gray reached the largest, the set just started looping so he could try all tires against all terrain. Because we have to be “scientific” about this, you know. :p So, which tires served him the best?

Well – the tiny tires gave it their all (the car with the second-smallest tires was the first to complete the LEGO speedbumps, in fact – just not in time), but Gray quickly found out that bigger was better in this challenge. Specifically, the second-biggest and third-biggest tires were pretty much the best at everything, having pretty much just the right combination of control and bounce. Plus a lot of surface area for things to hit, because if stuff hit the tires, it didn’t count as a crash. That little factoid came in QUITE in handy during that final run, let me tell you! But yes, if you’re going to be taking on your own bizarre GTA challenges anytime soon, maybe get some bigger tires fitted to your car. Shoulder height should do. :p

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Substitution check – I just had Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) to worry about today, and while I didn’t do anything with the queue, I did just straight-up reblog a couple of things –

A) A post featuring a speech from J.B. Pritzker, the Dem governor of Illinois, talking about his experiences with Trump (and how trying to please him does not actually get you anything, as he found when he tried striking a deal with the guy for ventilators during the height of the pandemic and getting BIPAP machines instead); his experiences with those asshole Nazis who, in 1978, wanted to march in Skokie, Illinois – the town with the most Holocaust survivors in the world at that time (and how it prompted the people to start building a Holocaust Memorial museum there – and how, when the Nazis did try to march in Chicago instead, they were VASTLY outnumbered by counter-protesters and the whole thing fizzled in minutes); and how he’s getting really worried about some of the shit he’s seeing with Trump and his party, and how it reminds him of how the Nazis came to power in Germany in the first place (and how he does NOT intend to bend the knee and let this guy sow division and hate, and he hopes his state does the same). Good stuff – I’ve seen it pop up on my dash a couple of times, and I figured it was about time I reblogged it too.

B) And a post (well, technically, a couple of posts) about how, even if being in fandom spaces when you’re older is a bit surreal, you should never EVER give up what you love just because you’re an “adult” now and you feel like you should get “serious.” Because life is too short, and you should enjoy what you love unapologetically and authentically, and not worry if you’re too old. Because being in fandom has no upper age limit. As someone who recently turned 38 and is still enthusiastically writing fanfics, this resonated with me. As you might expect. :p

Aaand that's about it! My day in a nutshell. *shrug* And now I should really go to bed so I can concentrate on getting some sleep. We'll see if tomorrow is any more interesting -- night all!
