Another Not Much To Say Wednesday
Feb. 26th, 2025 11:50 pmWell, okay, the write-up is a little longer today, but I don't have much to ADD to it is what I mean, sooo --
Work – Slightly busier day at work, just because we had more calls from people looking to update stuff, or get copies of their tax letters, or check on their balances on old pledges, or set up new ones. But it never got too annoying, and I did end up spending most of the day finishing off my old roster maintenance and starting some new stuff. Worst part of the day was fighting a bunch of traffic on the ride home. *shrug* I’ll take it. We’ll see if the “relatively quiet” streak continues tomorrow!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with “Yoga tour in Tiny Town Challenge! - Part 22” by James Turner! And two major things of note happened in this particular chunk –
A) Camillo doing the “yoga tour” of the title, as James searched around the various worlds for the best places to do yoga where everyone would have enough room (the major problem while doing it indoors) but nobody would freeze to death (currently the major problem while doing it outdoors because, well, winter)! Willow Creek proved a little too chilly for everyone’s liking, but Sulani and Tartosa provided decent temperatures and lovely views for classes. Oasis Springs worked too, though Camillo kept insisting on holding his classes on the road, where everyone would be hit by the not-really-existing cars. XD James also tried doing some indoor yoga classes in Copperdale, hitting up ThrifTea and the school’s big old auditorium, but the first didn’t have QUITE enough room for all the participants, and the second didn’t have any wandering Sims – Camillo had to drag along all his half-siblings and nephew to do a class with him. And even then, Sonny couldn’t join because of pathing issues. *sigh* Seems like if you’re doing yoga classes, you definitely want to be out in the world somewhere so Sims can just place their mats wherever they want without yelling about how they can’t get someplace! Shame that this means students risk dying in winter, but oh well. :P
B) James discovering that For Rent is even buggier than he could have imagined when he attempted to do some early updates to Camillo’s palace (namely to fix the weird “glitch through the platforms on the side” issue with the front stairs) – only to discover that the game would NOT let him build on the lot. Like, at all. In fact, he couldn’t build anywhere on the lot, not even in the common areas, so long as he was in Camillo’s apartment. James tried off-screen multiple ways to fix it (including the old “move everybody out, disable For Rent, re-enable For Rent, reset all the apartments, move everybody back in” song and dance), but the problem refused to be conquered. Forcing James to eventually go, “Okay, fine, let me try moving Camillo in with another family, removing his apartment from the lot entirely, and then using money cheats to set their combined funds to the right amount to build in the new ‘shared area’ from THERE.” And even that didn’t work on the first go, as James discovered Silas’s apartment had the exact same problem when he tried moving Camillo in with him! Fortunately, when he tried moving Camillo in with Sonny and Judith, he was finally allowed to build. Now, admittedly, James is using a cheat to allow this lot to have eight apartments when the upper limit is normally six, but he’s never had this problem in any of the other episodes, so… *sigh* Reasons why I refuse to touch For Rent, people! It is NOT worth the trouble!
Anyway – left it off about thirteen minutes from the end, with James FINALLY getting to update Camillo’s pad a little bit (redoing the walls a bit to make the interior spaces bigger so he can fix the floor plan). Tomorrow, we’ll finish off with whatever other tweaks he wants to make, and then move onto the second episode of Camillo’s finale! Hopefully Camillo will be able to move BACK into his own house by then – we shall see!
2. Continue working on “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded”: Check plus, as I got two bits of writing done today :D –
A) First, I got another page on “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded,” with the VITD trio invading Bumby’s office and starting to search! And while Victor hasn’t found much yet in Bumby’s desk, Alice has discovered the man’s secret kitty stored away in a hollowed book and promptly taken it for herself. And also broken his spare set of glasses. Because fuck him. XD I left off with Alice asking Smiler if they’d found anything interesting – tomorrow, Smiler reveals that they found their potential escape route! Because those windows on the side wall face the alley where they originally came in, after all…
B) And second, I got my first Multiamory March prompt – First Kiss(es), featuring the Valicer Severance AU trio – edited! So now my short story about why that Victor kissed that Alice during their “picnic” in the lunch room, and how he’s very glad he did because it got him a first kiss with Alice AND Smiler, should be all ready to go for Saturday! Just gotta get it in the queue, which is another kettle of fish...
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – another double feature in the Subs today –
A) First up, we had Josh Way and “The Room Next Door Movie Review!” Josh’s thoughts on this film about a woman with inoperable cancer who ropes in an old friend of hers to help her plan the end of her life on her terms, and what happens as they rekindle their friendship and put together what is technically a crime. Said thoughts were that this is an excellent movie, that handles its very heavy subject matter beautifully and with a surprisingly light touch – it’s a sad movie, but it’s not one that crushes you under that sadness, basically. Though Josh did warn that it might take you a bit to get used to how people talk in this movie – the director and screenwriter, Pedro Almodóvar, is a Spanish man, and this is his very first English-language movie, so things are a touch clunky (though Josh also admitted that it might just be a conceit of the film being very much a melodrama). But it’s very good even with that, so if you’re in the mood for a movie about death and life that isn’t too much, this might be for you.
B) And second up, we had GrayStillPlays and “Ramp Cars vs Trains in GTA 5!” The horrible custom ramp cars returned for another Point-Based Torture Board, with the Yeeting Dump Truck (now with sawblade wheels!), the OG Ramp Car, the Sprunk Speedster, the Most Fragile Ramp Car, and The Worst One To Drive (because the back wheels either lift off the ground or the front ramp gets caught on stuff) taking on three challenges for our pleasure:
I. Threading The Train, where they had to get through various thumbnail holes in trains, ramping the cars in their way, before shoving aside an explosive train car to make it to the win in under 20 seconds – the only one who could make it through all the gaps under the time limit was the OG Ramp Car, as everyone else either kept getting stuck or was that little bit too slow. Or both. Both is good. :p
II. Protecting The Jeep, where they had to race down a train track, avoiding various piles of debris, the Jeep stranded on the tracks, and the weebmill by the side of the platform, then ramp a train coming at the Jeep so it flew up into the air like gently bobbing balloons and didn’t obliterate the car. Because if it DID obliterate the car, it also obliterated Gray’s bridge to the checkpoint. Oh, and this too was timed, so he had to do it all in under 50 seconds. XD In this case, most of the cars just straight up exploded before they could reach the end, with the only one capable of ramping the train without taking massive amounts of damage being the Sprunk Speedster. Guess that massive physics-janking billboard attached to the front is good for something after all!
III. And Tightroping The Train, where they had to ramp up onto and drive along the top of a train, ramping smart cars all the way, before jumping onto a final tanker and flying off that to the win – the Sprunk Speedster and the OG Ramp went head to head here, and the OG Ramp won! Mostly by virtue of only bouncing all over the place when it landed like sixty percent of the time instead of ninety-five. XD And even then it ended up bouncing off the final car and corkscrewing through the win. So yeah, if you’re going up against a train, you probably want the original flavor ramp car and not one of Alex’s monstrosities. (Though if you want FUN, you definitely want the Yeeting Dump Truck. That thing can LAUNCH stuff. XD)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Checkish – I just had Victor Luvs Alice to worry about today, but I got to it a bit late. Meaning that, while I was able to start setting up a Song Saturday post in my queue (featuring “Eminence Front” by The Who, a song I associate with the Valicer Severance AU because I first heard it in the Severance Season 2 teaser), I wasn’t able to finish it. Plus I still need to queue up my first Multiamory March prompt too...hopefully I can get those two things done tomorrow! We shall see...
And yeah, that's about it! And as I have been staying up too late a lot this week, I'm heading to bed. *nods* Night all!
