Preoccupied With 1955: Day Twelve
Nov. 16th, 2005 10:04 pmNovember 16th, 1955: After spending the 15th apparently building the time circuit vacuum tube setup, Doc and Marty are ready to send Marty back to 1885. They're at the Potachee Drive-In for the send off. Doc is doing a last-minute check of the car while Marty tries on his clothes. They all fit except for the boots. They're also all extremely tacky -- a pink fringed shirt with atomic symbols on the shoulders, bright red pants, the works. Marty asks if they're authentic, Doc replies with yes, "Haven't you ever seen a Western?"
"Yeah I have Doc. And Clint Eastwood never wore anything like this." Nevertheless, Marty wears the stuff, and promises to put on the boots once he arrives.
Marty complains that it'll be a hell of a long walk back to Hill Valley from the area of the drive in. Doc tells him that it's the safest plan. They can't send him to a spot that was geographically unknown, or into a populated area. Marty will have plenty of run-off space near the drive-in, and a convienent cave to hide the DeLorean in.
Doc and Marty load up the DeLorean -- Marty's ill-fitting boots, fresh gas in the tank, the walkie-talkies complete with new batteries, and Marty's hoverboard. Doc switches the time circuits on and sets the display for September 2nd, 1885. Marty will have five days to find Doc85 and make sure he survives. Doc then tells Marty that all he has to do is accelerate toward the screen to 88 miles per hour. Marty protests that he'll crash into the Indians underneath the screen. Doc tells Marty he's not thinking 4th dimensionally -- once he hits 88, those Indians won't even be there. Marty is skeptical (as he probably should be ;)). Doc wishes him luck. "See you in the future."
"You mean the past."
"Exactly!"
Marty gets in the DeLorean with everything. Doc sends him off, shooting off his gun. Marty drives off, with Doc waving and calling "Vaya Con Dios!" after him. And shortly before hitting the screen, at around 10:00 A.M., Marty departs November 1955 for September 1885.
And thus end the Backie Days.
revison_doc update -- irony strikes the Robinsons when the day after I have Gypsy and Jihoon develop crushes on each other, the game provides me with Amar as her coworker -- and makes him a three-bolt match.
-D: Figures, huh?-
Yeah. Well, nothing to be done -- if Jihoon does turn out to be Romance, I have the perfect backup. He seems good for now, and she'll get her first kiss from him anyway. :)
-VD: That works. :)-
-TD: When is our Simself going to give birth? It's -- disturbing -- to see him pregnant.-
I think it's cute! But don't worry, the torture ends this weekend. Both Emily and Emmett will deliver their little ones. I'm really hoping for a girl from Emily -- I want her to have Harriet so I can make Jamie. :p
-VD2: Any gender preferences for us?-
I would like a son, but a daughter would be fine too. Jules or Julia.
-DW: Works for us.-
-OD: What, no Martina?-
That's saved for your second kid with Gypsy, if it turns out to be a girl.
-OD: And if it's a son?-
Not sure yet. I would like to relate back to Marty though.
-H: Why not me?-
Does Holly have a male form? All I can think of is "Hollister," and that sounds like a last name.
-H: Might make a decent middle.-
Good point, it'll be the alien kid's middle name.
-H: Goodie. :D-
Hehehe.
Ended up watching Harry Potter tonight. The new one comes out this Friday, so we're watching the first three over again.
-TD: You know, I'm curious as to how I didn't end up a wizard. I did come in during a bout of Harry mania for you, didn't I? I mean, didn't you create the Weasley Sims around that time?-
Yes, but I KNEW Harry. "Girl Genius" trumped it. Besides, "magic-science" fits you better than plain old magic.
-D: Technically, you could have ended up as a Jedi as well, she was slightly into Star Wars around then -- JediDoc.-
-TD: I would have liked that.-
Well, I think it did affect him -- why else would his favorite movie(s) be Star Wars?
-E: She's got a point.-
-OD: Gonna work on "Warsies Again" soon?-
I'll try -- though I'll probably be using the second sketch I did.
-OD: *tentacles chitter* Fine with us, so long as you draw. *poke*-
:p
