Finally, Harry Potter!
Dec. 12th, 2005 10:31 pmMy impressions of the film:
A) Terrific special effects. I especially liked the Portkey traveling and the Pensieve (which, except for it being ATTACHED to the wall, looked basically how I imagined it :D)
B) Although on that note -- if you could give us the BEGINNING of the Quidditch World Cup match, why couldn't you give us at least a bit of the ACTUAL match?
C) Beauxbatons appeared to have become the school for magical cheerleaders, Durmstrang the school for magical gymnasts. Showoffs, the lot.
D) Not sure why Mad-Eye Moody's eye had to be strap-on, or why he had a different prosthetic leg. But otherwise, good job with him
E) TERRIFIC Twins action, from the age line to the Yule Ball practice to basically everything. Twins Rock.
F) NEVILLE. IS. BISH. And he turned in one hell of an acting performance. I'm really glad to see they're giving him a fairly large role now -- anybody's who's ready the books will know that he's becoming pretty damn important (that little bombshell with the prophecy should convince anyone of that). Favorite moments included:
-Cruciatus -- well, I didn't exactly LIKE this moment, but Matthew Lewis really played the scene well
-Gillyweed -- yay for semi-scientific Neville, and of course "Oh my God, I've killed Harry Potter!"
-Neville's Waltz -- so cute in his dress robes, and such a lovely dancer :)
G) However, I can never forgive Mike Newell and whoever helped him cast the new parts. Reason?
I thought the guy who played Barty Crouch Jr. was kind of cute too.
*hate*
H) Bouncing Malferret forced into minion's pants is love. Seriously, great scene. :D
I) Suggested line change that would have actually tied things closer to the whole "Barty Crouch vs. Junior" storyline and prevented that pesky "Sirius first escapee from Azkaban" problem: "Send an owl to Azkaban, have them check the the prison graveyard. I think they'll find there's a body there that's not what it's supposed to be."
All in all, enjoyed the movie, looking forward to the next one.
-TD: My only problem is, there's going to be a few plot holes. Like with Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes -- Harry never gave the twins the money.-
True, true. I'm just really hoping they don't end up cutting the "Twins Escape From Umbridge" scene. There would be hell to pay for that.
-D: The kids are sprouting like weeds, aren't they?-
Yeah -- gotta get a move on with these movies.
The batteries in both my watches have basically died. *pout* Gotta get new ones and all that.
-VD: That's why we keep a drawer full of spare batteries in the lab.-
-VD2: Always be prepared.-
Yeah, like any of you would ever let a watch run down. Anyway, I'll have Dad help me get the backs off so I can get battery numbers and all that. I want my watches running again. I don't like having the time not available.
-Docs: We understand completely.-
:) Well, that'll have to wait until tomorrow. Right now, I have to go nighty-night.
