86. Mad
“Marty. Marty, time to wake up.”
Marty opened his eyes a sliver. Emmett Brown was peering down at him, grinning. “What time is it?” he mumbled.
“7:30 A.M. precisely. I need your assistance with my lightning generator -- the gears require oiling.”
“7 -- can’t I sleep in just once?” Marty complained, pulling the covers over his head.
“I let you sleep in!” Emmett protested, yanking them back down. “I was all for waking you at 7 sharp, but Emily convinced me that you needed the rest. Well, that and we caught Maxim attempting to make a sandwich out of one of my Telsa coils.”
“I was up until midnight last night helping you with the static field generator. I’m not getting up until 9 A.M., at least.” Marty rolled over and closed his eyes.
“Marty, I -- Marty? Marty!”
Marty ignored his friend, attempting to remember where he had been in his dream. Emmett huffed. “Well then. Seems I’m going to need a little mechanical assistance. I’ll be right back.”
“Take your time,” Marty mumbled. Oh, yeah, I was in the bedroom with Miss Canton, offering her a drink. . . .
He had just succeeded in getting Miss Canton to take her top off when a new noise interrupted his sleep. CLICK -- CLICK -- CLICK -- CLICK -- What now?
Schwoof!
Marty started as the temperature suddenly dropped. He opened his eyes to see a large mechanical hand drop his blanket and start forward again. “Oh hell,” Marty mumbled, turning over to bury his face in the pillow.
CLICK -- CLICK -- CLICK -- CLICK -- Schwoof! This time the hand grabbed the sheets. Marty clung to his pillow. No! I’m not getting up! Not for any reason!
CLICK -- CLICK -- CLICK -- CLICK
Hang on, why is it resetting? There’s nothing left to grab --
Fwump!

“EMMETT!!”
Emmett entered, smirking. “Oh yes, I knew--”
He stopped as he saw Marty dangling by his boxers from the hand. “Oh! Well, that wasn’t supposed to happen. It was only supposed to make two passes. I figured the temperature change would do the rest.”
“Why the hell hasn’t it put me down yet?” Marty demanded.
“Probably a simple arithmetic error in the difference engine. I most likely accidentally programmed in three passes, but only two drops. Simple adjustment.” Emmett grabbed a screwdriver and began working. “I am sorry, I built this rather quickly. . . .
Just get me down, Madboy.”
Sheesh, you are cranky!” Emmett twisted something. “There. I’ve finished the third loop, so--
The hand abruptly let go, sending Marty face-first into the pile of blankets. Emmett beamed. “Perfect! Now get up and get dressed! We have a lot of work to do!”
Marty got up slowly, wrapping the blanket around himself. “You will pay for this, Emmett,” he snarled. “You will pay. I swear.”
“Consider it my revenge for dumping that bucket of ice water on me the last time I started sleep-Sparking. Up and at ‘em, minion.” Emmett left.
Marty shook his head. “Sparks. Next time, I’m hiding his Jules Verne book.”

Okay, now back to the BTTF Online RPG I'm playing Doc, against a group of "special needs terrorists." (Read the topic to figure out what it means.)
-VD2: O.o I'm not sure I want to know.-
Oh, come on, it's funny.
-DW: Vicky, that "Emma Heterobach" bunny is back with reinforcements.-
I know, I know!
-VD: So are you doing it?-
Highly tempted. If anything, it would be a second thing on Sundays, after the usual [livejournal.com profile] revison_doc stuff. I refuse to give up a day for that, no matter how quiet things are at the moment.
-M: Yeah, there really isn't much happening at the moment, is there?-
Nope, so far playing sessions have been relatively short. But there is change in the air:
-->Doc is getting very close to properly opening DocBots -- that is, to letting customers in
-->The Morte twins are due for a birthday
-->Sarah's funeral will be very soon
-->The Shaw twins are close to leaving for college
-->The FurKin will soon be off on their double date
-->Marty's going to rush the Greek House soon and move into there
-->April and Dave need to start their relationship
In fact, I think I'll start on that last one today. Nothing like a good crush to create interest.
-VuM: Yeah, our Daves always end up in a workaholic rut, thanks to you.-
Yeah, but it's a very financially succesful rut.
-VuM: Good point.-
