Life Is As Usual
Aug. 25th, 2006 11:07 pmWith me working on some projects and procrastinating on others, work being annoying, the muses doing their best to enjoy the last days of August--
-TD: *whimper* I don't want to retire the Jacoolzi again. . . .-
So let's make this a Sims-centric post. :)
-RPD: Let's. Just don't forget to finish up your "Boy Genius" page.-
Almost there -- getting to the big villian reveal.
A Hill Valley day today -- I revisited Goldie Wilson, the future Mayor. First on the agenda was to change that afro. After going through a bunch of styles, I found one we both liked.

Then it was time for breakfast, after which he browsed the paper. No Political job though.

So I had Goldie call up Joe Statler to chat about sports and the local weather. Conversation got off to a rough start, but by the end, Goldie and Joe were friends. Hell, Joe called right back to continue the chat!

After getting Goldie a shower, I decided to go ahead and rent the cheap computer, in hopes of a Politics job being available. Score! Goldie's now a Campaign Worker.

I let him keep the computer long enough to play a brief game of SSX-3, then sent him out to kick his flamingo for more fun. (It's odd, but kicking the flamingo gives a pretty major fun boost. Cheap to boot.)

A TV dinner for lunch, then Goldie got busy practicing his speeches. "If elected, I promise to cut frivolous spending! We will have an adequate budget!"

After getting another Charisma point, I directed him back toward his easel for some fun.

As he painted, Linda McFly passed by. Figuring he should get to know his voters (and set his gender preference), I had him head out. Linda likes to discuss the weather as well, it appears.

I had Goldie check her out -- a winner with two lightning bolts! I smell scandal, considering he's one of the few males around she's NOT supposed to be related to.

-M: O.O-
-M2: You'd seriously have my sister -- get it on -- with the Mayor?-
A brief but torrid affair before he settles down. Could work. :p In the meantime, he'll keep it to jokes.

After saying goodbye to Linda, I had him study cooking like a good bachelor. He studied late into the night, finally getting up to three cooking points and being able to make a nice chef salad instead of the usual crap.

-VD: A chef salad takes three cooking points?-
I know. I'm pretty sure you can make spaghetti with either none or one.
-VD2: o.O Sims are very strange.-
At least he has another option for food. I'll upgrade to a stove once he starts bringing home a salary. Then it was off to bed with him, to dream pleasant dreams.

-M: *headdesk* You know, it's not really THAT implied that my sister is a slut. . . .-
Well, she jugggles boyfriends in the new reality. She's a little over-popular, is all.
-VuM: *curious* Ever think of having her settle down?-
Not really. She remains a free spirit in NonTrilogy, anyway. And Dave gets together with April in that world.
-M: We get it, we're responsible for the grandkids.-
You give Lorraine twins, so she can't complain. :p
-VM: What about in our realities?-
Haven't thought it completely through yet. Dave and Linda aren't really important to ANY reality -- they just seem to get the most face time in the VDCs and NonTrilogy.
I also took the time to do a little development in Eureka -- say hello to the newly community-lotted Trans Poly U!

We have lots for a gym, a park, a hot spot, a shopping plaza, and a library -- I like to keep things a bit minimalist. Might add another hot spot -- maybe a musicial theater like they have in Academie Le Tour. I had some time, so I built the Park (Trans Poly Park). Let's take a look.

Like my pond? I tried to make it look realistic. There's two barbeque areas -- a regular old table set up and a "picnic" place -- some chess games, and lots of benches. And bathrooms of course -- I went with a blue and green theme to match the outdoors. I also eventually added a swingset.

And for information purposes, this is what the Tesla coil looks like in-game. Hopefully my Mad Scientists will be able to put it to good use.
-DW: And it didn't crash your game -- always a good sign.-
Yeah, everything downloaded correctly it looks like. The lizard/plant skin looks beautiful. I look forward to making Marty Klein.
-MF: Klein?-
Son of Dr. Calvin Klein, tragically killed one day by (insert tragedy), leaving behind his last experiment.
-M2: Heh, neat.-
Yeah. I plan to use that to kick off Eureka. Then it's over to Emma Heterobach and Emmett -- Brown or Von Braun?
-RPD: I think you should save Von Braun for Twin Oaks Park. People might get confused.-
Good point. Brown it is.
And now, to finish the "Boy Genius" written page, and to make "holder templates" for "V.D." and "Boy Genius."
-VD+TD: *pokity!*
