Better Now
Nov. 24th, 2006 11:51 pmYeah, played some Miniclip stuff and watched some MST3K clips last night. Feeling a hell of a lot calmer.
-D: Glad to hear it. You were really in a mood last night.-
Well, it's just annoying. I bought the new computer mostly so I could play Sims BETTER, not WORSE. Moose suspects it -- going to that blank blue screen (not Blue Screen of Death) has something to do with parties or something. I think it might have something to do with the fact I had to leave the game running for a while on the opening loading screen before I played (Mom and Dad got "Cars" the other night). The fact that it happened with a lot of people might be significant though too.
-TD: Well, let's look at it logically. Has it ever happened before?-
Once -- I was placing stuff on one of my Eureka lots (pretty sure it was Twin Pines Mall), and the screen went blue in the same way for a while (blank blue, with the cursor doing the hourglass thing, like it had just been minimized). That time, however, it only did it once, and I was able to play normally afterwards. And it happened at a community lot I was BUILDING -- no people involved.
-TD: Hmm. That is a puzzler.-
Part of me says that it's the graphics card -- it's JUST UNDER what's supported for Pets. The game looks good, but I dunno. . . .
-RPD: Did it do it today?-
Luckily, no. Got in a full, regular playing session.
-RPD: Thank God. I don't think I could have taken that mood two days in a row.-
Heh, yeah.
Popped in on the Hill Valley Tannen family today -- they actually had a relatively nice Saturday. I cleared up their mood reset, then set Jiff out to do a little of his homework while Biff painted.

Then it was breakfast together before Biff did some more painting and Jiff jammed.

Around ten, I got a walkby -- and it's a girl! Time for Jiff to start living up to his Romance aspiration -- I have him go out and greet this girl with the ugly stockings. It's Meadow Thayer -- I'm pretty sure she's one of Marty's friends.

They get along famously, having a shared interest in money. I'm thinking that she could be Jiff's bleached-blond golddigging girlfriend.

Then she throws a curveball at me by proclaiming one of her wants as "Earn a Cleaning skill point." Jiff, are you romancing a KNOWLEDGE Sim? (Granted, there's the possibility she's Fortune who needs the skill for a job)

Eh, doesn't matter -- she digs the brown hair, and it's not like he's determined to be faithful or anything. They part ways at one bolt attraction.

While this was going on, Biff finishes his craptacular painting. I make him work out, as he'll need Body for his job.

He and Jiff have lunch separately -- and as their table is taken up with dirty dishes, they eat standing up in the living room. :p Never seen that before.

After lunch, Biff looks through the telescope. Tut tut, Biff, such a voyeur.

Uh, Biff? That's a scary face in general, but particularly when you're spying on Doc Brown.

Ooh, what? See something that scared you? Serves you right.

And here comes the scientist himself. He and Biff shove each other, then Doc gives him what-for. We now have two Sims furious at one another -- this should be interesting.

Annoyed, Biff goes for the joy juice.

And gets progressively drunker as Jiff talks to Meadow and best-friends his old friend Ricky. (Seriously, every time he finished one drink, he'd go for another. I was ROFLing.)

He also drunkenly takes a call from his own friend Komei once Jiff finishes.

Eventually, the day ends, and they head to bed. We end with a late night visit from Stinky Skunk! :)

I also popped over to Eureka and did a little more with this version of the Pleasure Paradise. Got some items set up now:

First floor -- mostly a buying area, with the steam/hot tub room I created before. I also added a wall to the "Biff Tannen Museum" to fill in that gap on the second floor -- dunno what to do with it yet.

Second floor -- poker tables and a tacky bar. You'll notice the wallpaper for the second and third floors is the opposite stripes color of the flooring.

Third floor -- pool tables and darts. I plan to add a Electrosphere somewhere too. Also notice I found this wonderful lurid pink in the paint department -- now to get some neon.
-VD2: You are having entirely too much fun with the Pleasure Paradise.-
It's more fun once you know some asshole isn't in charge of it. Barty Tannen won't be able to buy this place. He might visit it often, but. . . .
I also added one more residental lot to downtown -- but take a look at what it did to a neighboring lot's road!

-RPD: O.o-
I know. I'm tempted to move somebody in there, but I don't know how they'd ever get out of the house.
And now, back to work. You boys should be glad, I'm actually fairly productive today.
-HD: Yes, I saw you working diligently on "Marty In Wonderland."-
Yup. It was also a slow day at work, so I was able to get a lot done in the actual "written" writing department. Just gotta follow it up with "Boy Genius" and "V.D." edits and the like. VampDoc, don't let me forget to send the final chapters of "V.D." to Tracey tomorrow.
-VD: Will do. Now write, you.-
I'm off, I'm off.
-DW: And don't forget "Absolute Power!"-
I won't! Really gotta rewatch that bit this weekend, help refresh my memory. . . .
