crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (exhausted)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
On the one hand, I have my Changeling book to read and web to surf. On the other hand, I'm bored and I'm tired. Decisions, decisions. . . .
-OD: You could draw something, you know.-
-DW: Given her recent thoughts, do you really want her to?-
-OD: *tentacles chatter at each other* It's mixed -- the boys don't particularly want to see a warped me. On the other hand, Ael's birthday is coming up.-
Ooo, yes. I've got an idea for that, actually -- I should get to work so it'll be ready on time. Remind me to get going on that this weekend.
-OD: *grin, tentacles nodnod*-
-RPD: No Sims today?-
Not in the mood. Played the Smiths yesterday, though. Melody managed to have a Good Time party with only two guests. And Clayton recovered the Maltese Llama, meaning I have a possible headline for a future villager update. *grin* I love picking right on chance cards.
-RPD: Barty and his flame have to get married too.-
Yeah, I know. I'm a little nervous about that one, though.
-RPD: Why?-
Honeymoon.
-HD: O.O *sloshes tea everywhere* You can't let a Tannen be your first Sim to take a vacation! Quick, send someone else out!-
LoL, take it easy!
-HD: No! I refuse to let a Tannen have that honor!-
Well, Eureka!Emmett is too poor to do much of anything, and TwinOaksPark!Emmett has a baby!
-RPD: . . . You've forgotten you HAVE other neighborhoods, haven't you?-
*pause* I suppose I could send the Hill Valley Browns somewhere. Maybe even test the guest thing and bring Marty along.
-HD: Much better, yes. Do that this weekend.-
Whoa, I've got stuff going on in the neighborhoods that have journals.
-HD: Surely you can find time for this.-
*fidgets* I'm not used to marathon playing. I'm anal. *puts things in slots*
-HD: I'll hit you with a live flamingo, that'll cure it.-
Yeah, I think I could marathon chase you. . . .
-D: Anyway, what about your writing?-
"Shot Through the Heart" is on a temporary pause while I try to figure out the stupid horse situation. Maybe I'll pop the DVD in for that scene this weekend. I'm doing pretty good on "V.D." edits, though -- putting in lots of new dialogue and tweaking the old stuff quite a lot.
-VD: *grin* Glad to hear it.-
Me too -- I kind of lousy back in the day.
-M2: Hey, it's like they say, everyone has a bunch of crap they have to get out of their system before they can start writing the good stuff.-
*snort* True. I also have to send out the next chapter of "The Gift and the Curse" for betaing.
-VD2: What about the drabbles88? Though I'm a little nervous about asking. . . .-
*slightly evil grin* Got a new one:

66. Found
“Come on!”
They’ve fallen behind again. I suppose I can’t blame them – George is working with a severe handicap, and Marty refuses to leave him behind. And since I refuse to leave Marty behind, I’m stuck waiting for them. I wish they’d hurry up, though – the Hedge is a dangerous place, and the more paranoid part of me suspects that our captors may be after us. Or, at least, Marty and George’s captor. I don’t know when my own is going to get back up. Great Scott, did it ever feel good to finally get one over on him. . . .
They finally catch up to me – George is hanging on tightly to Marty’s jacket. I can’t hide a wince at seeing his face. I’ve never liked gore, and the damage that patch of Thorns did to his eyes. . . . Reminds me a lot of my own flesh when Andrew was –
No! Don’t think of that! Think of home, think of Hill Valley! It’s the only way we’re going to get through this mess!
“Doc?” Marty’s voice is high with fright. “Where do we go from here?”
He and George look up to me as the leader. I’ve been here the longest of the three (even by Fae time, which has no logic to it at all), which means I know a lot more of the tricks and traps of Faerie life. The problem is, that also means I have the dimmest memories of home. I’ve been toiling in that basement for so long, working with clockwork and steam, that it’s almost like I’ve never known anything else.
But I must have! I’m mortal, I’m human – or I was, at least. I must – I must remember something. . . . Hill Valley, Riverside Drive, the clock tower, the university – they’re just trite names, soulless places. I need something more solid, more personal. Damn it, Emmett, you recovered your name! Can’t you come up with anything else? Think of your inventions, think of your life’s work, think of the –
the flux capacitor. . . .
No, not that, it was telling Andrew about that that got me into this mess, he thought I was some sort of miracle worker because of my theories on time travel –
Time travel?
Something I haven’t felt in years flickers to life inside me. Hope. If we can get out of here – if I can complete my designs – maybe I can go back in time and fix things. If not for me, then at least for Marty and George. Make sure they have a normal life. Make sure they don’t lose everything, the way I most certainly have.
I grab Marty’s hand, making sure George still has a tight hold on his son. “This way!” I yell, racing off through the brambles of the Hedge, pulling my friends along behind me. Thorns?
What Thorns?

-TD: That's -- surprisingly hopeful.-
-VDM: Still pretty dark, but yeah, more upbeat than we expected.-
Well, I did have an idea for a darker Doc piece for the "Fixed" prompt, but I went with this instead. This is an "inspired by another universe" piece -- my pal [livejournal.com profile] geno0823 is writing a BTTF/nWoD crossover story, with Marty, Doc, and George getting involved with Fae based off of Changeling: The Lost. You can read the first chapter here. I know a bit about how the plot's going to go (actually helped Geno get over a roadbump), so naturally my brain's been racing off with my own variation on the idea. There shouldn't be any major spoilers, as I'm sure my version of events is way different from Geno's.
-TD: What IS happening here?-
The gang's escaping from their fairy captors -- Doc knocked his out, and the guy who gets Marty and George is distracted, so they made a break for it. They're currently stumbling along in the Hedge, the thorny, scary realm between Earth and Arcadia.
-HD: You went with Richard-style clockwork Doc, didn't you?-
I like steampunk and I like Richard!
-VD2: Just be thankful she didn't write the long "Doc is captured" story yet.-
Nah, I've been seeing too much funny recently to really get into the proper mindset. In my idea of events, Doc is captured by a Fae posing as a graduate student of his -- Doc gets friendly with the kid and ends up sharing a bit of his ideas about time travel. "Andrew" is so impressed, he kidnaps Doc so he can build stuff for him. He doesn't like the idea of Doc needing to sleep and rest and eat and stuff, so he's forcing the poor guy to build replacement parts for himself. The clockwork thing seems to be par for the course for Faerie -- remember the guy I mentioned from the play demo that reminded me of Richard?
-DW: Geno, please post the next chapter soon -- the more she focuses on your version, the less we have to deal with hers.-
*swats him gently*

GODDAMNIT, WHY WON'T MY MAGAZINES STAY UP?!
*fixes fallen BTTF comic* I swear, I have more trouble with these things. . . . I'm just glad I finally figured out where to place the fan. I was dying without it on, but the breeze kept playing dominoes with the darn comics.
-HD: I think I have some glue here--
Eek! No, don't hurt my comics! *two more fall over* On second thought --
-D: Go read your scary book.-

DUDE, I love it.
George is hanging on tightly to Marty’s jacket. I can’t hide a wince at seeing his face. I’ve never liked gore, and the damage that patch of Thorns did to his eyes...
Eeee. I like this. Wait, did I tell you about enucleated fairy George before? Or did you read my mind?

Traumatizing your muses aside, do feel free to make up your own little bits...I love that people are making up backstory for my story, it saves me having to do it myself (and damn, it's just cool). I should have the new chapter up by tonight.

Hehe, yay! :D

You mentioned it in your original outline -- George comes back squirrelly and blinded. In my mind, I decided he stumbled into a particularly nasty patch of the Hedge during the escape and -- well. . . .

LOL, I see. Making me do your dirty work, eh? :p Seriously, I'm glad you like, and I'm looking forward to seeing the new stuff.
