Somewhat Distractable Saturday

Been a bit of a day where I get hung up on visiting TV Tropes and reading old stories and stuff like that -- but given this is the midpoint of a very long weekend, I think I can allow myself a day like that. :p Besides, I did complete everything on the good old to-do list:
1. Watch the final part of "Marvel Meets The Eye" from Linkara and keep up on YouTube Subs: Check! And even fit in some bonus videos –
A) Actually started with a surprise quickie from Plumbella – some mods she found from one PandaSama that give Sims 4 toddlers more toys and stuff they can interact with! A tiny basketball hoop, a napping bed, a ROCKING HORSE – and staggered bunk beds with stairs they actually climb! :D She also had a kid’s play-kitchen and a scaled-down bicycle for children. How cool is that? It is equally awesome and sad that the modders for this game make it so much better. . .
B) Then, post-my own Simming, it was time to finish off “Marvel Meets The Eye” with the final three-parter! Which you think would have been shorter, with Linkara covering only two follow-up series (Generation 2 and Regeneration One), but given how densely plotted the latter was. . .yeah, I think it ended up being the LONGEST of the bunch. A lot happening in the wake of the “four-issue mini-series” – new “Generation 2” transformers created by “budding” threatening all of Earth; a new war machine starship that is all spikes; Spike Witwicky the human ending up as the new Circuit-Breaker probably because of IDW, who did Regeneration One, not being able to legally use her; the discovery of a horrible dark force trying to infect the very multiverse; Starscream getting superpowered TWICE MORE (though admittedly once was him having old powers as the Underbase revived); Soundwave using the power of minor irritation to help weaken the Cybertronians for a new Decepitcon attack; Rodimus Prime summoning up alternate versions of himself to fight the said dark force going after the multiverse; and Grimlock actually having a very solid character arc involving saving his DinoBot friends and atoning for the mistakes of the past. Most of it just flew right by me, but at least I can always enjoy Linkara enjoying something! . . .That being said, I am going to enjoy going back to single-part episodes now. ^^;
C) Then after supper, it was time for Call Me Kevin and Minecraft! Modded Minecraft, that is – with a mod that makes stuff explode. It’s supposed to be anything that’s dropped on the ground for three seconds, but in practice, Kevin found that a lot of stuff exploded just from being near him. Mainly, the wildlife. Getting wool to make a bed and thus set your respawn point gets a lot harder when you have to sprint to shear the sheep before it blows up! Not to mention collecting fresh meat. . . Kevin ended up making a basement house to try and protect himself from the dangers of the outside world – and then promptly fell into a giant cave and died. XD Fortunately after making his bed, at least. He did manage to figure out how to weaponize throwing around blocks of stuff as time bombs against hostile mobs, but the poor guy was basically just running around pretty damn stressed for most of the episode. And this is on top of real life back pain and a foot injury forcing him to use a cane. As you might imagine, many “old man” jokes were made today. XD
D) Speaking of masochism, we had more GrayStillPlays GTA V stunt races today! Today’s was a board full of troll obstacles – not long, but a lack of checkpoints meant a LOT of pain for poor Gray. Damn thing practically starts with a fake choice with secret hidden boosts on BOTH paths, then goes through a couple of wall rides from hell with obstacles to dodge, a mega-ultra-fan made from assets layered over each other, a ride through the sea where you have to go fast enough to yeet over an obstacle, another painful wall ride to yeet yourself through a small hole, the world’s worst “flip yourself over” ramps, a bunch of benches you have to go over backwards, and finally a final jump that has to be done at JUST the right speed and angle so you hit the finish line. I think this is the new “Satan’s Best” in the Gray line-up!
E) And, just because I had the time and the inclination, rewatched the Red Plumbob comparison of vampires across the Sims series. Still amazed that Sims 4 did that occult so well – shame it proved to be a rather high bar to clear when it came to all their other occults!
2. Write some more on "Londerland Bloodlines": Check – got it done before lunch! Alice has successfully used Auspex to spot a foe, then Obfuscate to help her sneak-attack him. Jack’s quite impressed with the power level of this brand-new fledgling. :p Hey, video game logic, of course Alice has to be extra badass. :D Though in-universe, I explain this as her just having a natural talent for being a supernatural creature, but that won’t come up until MUCH later in the game’s timeline. . .
3. Play Sims 4 and do the Valice Wedding in the Chill Save: Check, though, again, we had a side order of “have to re-rename the files that stupid OneDrive renamed in its syncing bullshit” to get the save to actually SHOW UP. . .then again, should just be glad that solved the issue and I didn’t lose the save entirely. As it stands, got that sorted, got into the save, and got that version of Victor and Alice married! It was a lovely ceremony – mostly. This Alice is starting to pick up Newcrest’s Alice habit of randomly yelling at or insulting Victor. *grumbles* What the hell is up with that? Okay, yes, she’s erratic, but seriously? Good thing I caught both early and forced her to apologize. . . Even with that, though, it was a very successful wedding – and Victor’s inheritance came through to the tune of I believe a nice healthy 10K! This was more than enough to pay for the wedding (and a few extras, like a snack at the park and a mixologist), and also more than enough for me to start some house renovations!
Which, uh, ended up taking a lot longer than anticipated. I forgot how much I got into this sort of thing. *facepalm* Especially since I decided I wanted to change up the layout a bit. . . I think I’ve got something I like now, but it will a) require a bit of playtesting, and b) require me to fill out some more of the open space with furniture and rugs and whatnot. Trying not to spend ALL their money in one go, but I think I can help them afford a nicer dining table and chairs, and some entry hallway stuff now!
4. Keep up on various comments and messages: Actually, looking at when I usually answer most of my comments and such, this is currently in-progress. :p But I did answer another FF.net PM earlier! (Someone bouncing around their ideas for an “X-Men Mutants” Valice AU, which as you might imagine is relevant to my interests.) And one of the DW comments in my inbox – just have to do the other one and I’m all set!
So yeah, despite various distractions, pretty solid day. :p And it's currently quiet on the old tumblr front, so I'm going to finish off that last comment and then maybe let myself have a few more distractions before heading to bed. :p But first, Sunday to-do list:
1. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions and watch Jon's Fallout 4 YOLO video
2. Free Writing Day -- write whatever I feel like
3. Play Alice: Madness Returns and complete Cardbridge (my favorite level!)
4. Get in a workout
5. Prep for tumblr queues
This all feels reasonable for Easter. :p Night all!

Date: 2021-04-05 07:17 am (UTC)And yeah, Screamer... Dear PRIMUS, Screamer, why can't you keep your mitts off the superpowering artifacts. Although, what I've seen of the one time he got said mitts on the Matrix is borderline hilarious, because it involved a lot of ol' Screampuff whining about how it kept forcing him to be good and he didn't want to be good.
Hadn't heard about Spike ending up Circuit-Breaker, I only knew about the Josie Beller version. (That girl's gonna need a lot of therapy.) But then I didn't get to read ANY of the IDW comics except for getting, I think, one issue of where they did character profiles. Someday I need to track this stuff down. When I'm not periodic and (I think) running a fever again.

Date: 2021-04-06 02:55 am (UTC)They're apparently magnetically attracted to him or something. And yes, that was in this episode (part of him becoming the ship they were on) -- he was EXTREMELY whiny about it, to Linkara's amusement. XD
Technically his name is Circuit-SMASHER -- shenanigans lead to him and Fort Max (his Headmaster Transformer buddy) getting badly injured, and Spike needing the same techniques she used to heal herself to survive. (And yes, she really does.) Ended up understandably bitter about the whole thing. And I see -- one day! (Being off the red curse and healthy does help in these instances.)

Date: 2021-04-13 10:15 am (UTC)Starscream is often extremely whiny. I think that's what got him the fandom nickname "screampuff". It's not because he isn't dangerous.
Name change probably for copyright reasons. And... I could kind of wish they didn't go there, because while it almost sounds interesting, it also sounds like they reused the idea One Too Many Times. I can give it a bit of leeway tho because, lets face it, humans trying to get involved in battles involving much stronger robots tend to result in the (somewhat derogatory slur, really) nickname of "squishies" for obvious reasons. (My Wilybots try not to use the term around human allies, now that they have them, but they DO still use it from years of habit.)
But as for it feeling a little overused (tho maybe not), other than Josie, Spike's own son Daniel in the G1 US Cartoon Season 3 ended up an extremely underage Headmaster in Arcee's head because it also doubled as life support after he was injured. (I know it's a kid's show, but.. urgh. So many of these timelines have child soldier issues.)

Date: 2021-04-14 03:23 am (UTC)Yes, I did notice that about his characterization. Actually just saw a post on tumblr that said he'd be a real threat if he ever got his shit together, but as he never does have his shit together, we're all fine. :p
Indeed -- I mean, it IS technically a entirely different character, but. . . And I can see where you're coming from -- severe injuries like these are only to be expected in a dangerous battle, yeah, but given it's SO close to the original's design and backstory. . .plus, Spike was already a Headmaster, so this does feel a bit like overkill. (And is that so? Oh yikes. D: They don't, don't they? Gotta love that fucked-up writing.)
